En plena naturaleza, cerca de la población con todos los servicios, se necesita vehículo, muy tranquilo. El equipamiento interior sencillo pero acorde con el precio, las camas cómodas, el cuarto de baño más que aceptable. Muy buen trato de los propietarios atentos en todo momento. La zona exterior muy amplia y la piscina muy limpia con buenas amacas.

Perfect base to explore Tuscany

We had a fantastic holiday at I Gelsi. Enza and Paolo are wonderful hosts, helping with travel plans and reservations. The pool area is beautiful and great to relax around. The beds are very comfortable a super kitchen area.

Sehr freundliche Gastgeber, top-Pool, gemütlich eingerichtetes kleines Apartment mit allem Nötigsten. Auch bei großer Hitze angenehm. Gut, dass es Moskitogitter vor den Fenstern gibt.

Home Away from Home

Enza & Paolo were wonderful hosts! They were very welcoming, knowledgeable and so helpful. We arrived later in the day and the fridge was stocked with the essentials for breakfast the next morning & a bottle of wine to enjoy. The place was comfortable and clean and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The location couldn't be beat to explore Tuscany. We stayed in Venice, Florence and the Amalfi Coast and this was by far our favourite place! If we ever make it back to Italy we will definitely stay with them again! I highly recommend!

Heerlijk vakantie gehad. Prima appartement en zeer klantvriendelijke eigenaren

Het appartement is zeer rustig gelegen en eenvoudig ingericht maar met prima bedden. Uitstekend geschikt voor de zomer aangezien het binnen koel blijft door de dikke stenen muren. Buiten is het heerlijk toeven op het schaduwrijke terras en bij het prachtig gelegen zwembad met magnifiek uitzicht. De eigenaren zijn bijzonder vriendelijk en welwillend. Kortom, wij kunnen het iedereen aanraden!

A Peaceful Retreat

Enza and Paolo were such gracious hosts and did everything they could to make us comfortable for our stay. They were also flexible with our travel plan; I had booked us one day short by accident and Enza was able to accomodate us. We were at I Iglesi at the perfect time, I think. The weather was not too hot yet and the mosquitos were just begining to emerge. We had rainy days and sunny days and mist in the mornings while having coffee on the veranda. Just perfect! We were able to wash clothes while there and had a fold out dryer to dry them in the apartment. We also enjoyed nice meals prepared at 'home' after a long day touring around the city, while our children swam in the pool. The train station was easily accessible in town and the fast train to Florence (Fierenze) took about 20 minutes. We have no criticism and would absolutely stay with Enza and Paolo again. Ciao!

The apartment was suitable for a family of four. With the kids sharing the upstairs attic.

The property is beautiful. It is a little out of town so nice and quiet. The facilities are well maintained. The kitchen is quite small but we managed to cook every night as well as made use of the outdoor BBQ. The hosts Enza and Paolo are lovely with lots of local information to share. The house was well positioned to explore Tuscany. We took day trips into Chianti, San gimiano and over to the little hamlets around Loro Ciuffena.

Beautiful home and hosts, wish we could have stayed longer

Paolo and Enza were amazing hosts. We stayed four nights and our teenagers enjoyed the pool every afternoon. The flat was just as seen in the pictures and was very clean. They were very welcoming and social as were the other guests. We had a lovely time. Can't recommend it enough. We had our own outdoor dining and reclining area as well which was lovely. The twist and turn drive up to the farm was truly memorable as well. A lovely region and a lovely town. Quick hourly trains from town to Firenze as well (30 minutes) made it a great base for touristing as well. It was very hot this June in Italy so knowing we had a swimming pool waiting after standing in line at the Accademia was wonderful. Highly recommended, zero complaints.

A fabulous place to stay with great owners

We have recently returned from a 6 night stay at Il Forno with our two daughters and had a great time. The apartment is one of four alongside the owner's property, set in a rural location in the hills. The apartment was very clean, well equipped and maintained and exceeded our expectations. There was an outside area with dining table and chairs and a couple of deckchairs for al fresco dining and relaxing. There is the use of a shared pool (again this was beautifully maintained) which offers fabulous views over the opposite hills and is a great place to relax. A welcome pack of bread, milk, jam, tea bags, butter and a bottle of wine was provided on arrival, saving an immediate dash to the local supermarket.The owners, Enza and Paolo, were very welcoming and went out of their way to ensure our stay was enjoyable - they are also a wealth of information on the surrounding area being able to provide suggestions for visits. If you don't want to drive into Florence, there is a regular train service from the nearby town into Florence, taking around 25 minutes. The apartment is well located to take advantage of the many beautiful towns and villages Tuscany has to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have no hesitation in recommending this property, in fact we hope to be able to return ourselves in the future.

Enza is an Italian born midwife who returned to Florence from the United Kingdom in the late 1980s. Her husband Paolo is a Florentine photographer and together they live in one wing of the main house with their two children enjoying a traditional Italian family lifestyle.


During Summer Enza takes advantage of the home grown produce to create preserves and sauces and of course, in Autumn, everyone helps with producing Olive Oil from the groves surrounding their house.

In 1998 Paolo and Enza Carlini fell in love with a large farmhouse set on 14 acres of land, in a beautiful position above the 13th century town of Figline Valdarno with stunning views of the Tuscan countryside.

They slowly and carefully restored the house preserving the original character and charm, deciding to name the property after the numerous Mulberry trees that surround the house. The grounds offer privacy and plenty of opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the italian countryside with enjoyable walks through fields and wooded copse. However you are still only 10 minutes from the centre of Figline, and it's charming Piazza, modern amenities and frequent rail service to both Florence and Rome.

Though peaceful and rural, I Gelsi is within easy reach of many of the Medieval towns and cities of Tuscany and makes a superb base for touring this wonderful region.

I Gelsi boasts a large infinity pool which is positioned so that the wonderful view of the surrounding countryside can be enjoyed in sunshine from early in the morning to sunset.

A substantial brick built, rustic barbecue, located away from the apartments to prevent smoke nuisance, is available for everyone to use and perhaps try out "Bistecca alla Fiorentina".
