We chose this home because of the location to the nearby finger lakes wineries and Watkins Glen State Park. The rooms fit 27 guests comfortably (sharing rooms; twin trundle beds pop-up). For parking, there is only room for 10 cars, as stated in the description. I misunderstood thinking we could park additional cars in the lawn. The front lawn is down a bank, only accessible with AWD vehicles. Some of our guests had AWD so it wasn't an issue if someone manages the parking. The kitchen had a lot of storage room in the pantry for groceries, and the 3 fridges (one outside, one on the ground floor) really came in handy for food and beverages. The dining room and wrap around porch overlooks the lake, beautiful sunrise and sunsets. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need. We used the island in the kitchen for staging the catered dinners we picked up from Watkins Glen restaurants, less than 1/2 hour away. From the comments we knew to bring bottled drinking water in lieu of the well water. There are neighbors on both sides, so we tried to keep the outside music turned down, and only had music inside after 10pm. Overall, everyone enjoyed their stay, and we would rent this again. Our host was responsive to all communication.

Property suited our needs for a large family gathering. Lots of space, beds etc. owner warned of sulfur water so we managed with bottled water and it was fine. Comfy gathering spots on big porches and inside. Hot water for showers for that many people is a problem even when you do your best to spread them out. The only cleanliness issue is the neighbor lady walks her dogs on the property many times a day. Dog poop in the yard makes it hard to play family games or even walk. Owner probably didn’t know it until now. He should tell her not to now.

Very clean, rustic house with a beautiful view of the lake. We had to be creative with parking to fit all of our vehicles, but we were able to make it work.

Lot’s of Space

This is a very large older home. Our family lived the kitchen, wrap around porch and large dining room.We were unable to swim in the lake except by boat out in the center. The sulfur water was a bit strong and there were bees in the attic and ants in the kitchen. Nothing you would not see in an older house.

We had a great time!

The property had a lot of space and room for everyone to have their space to sleep. And the lake was beautiful. We wish the living room was set up differently so there could be more communal areas for everyone to hangout. The big issue was that areas were not accessible as the listing said. It said that the lake front was accessible but there was no way we could get a wheelchair down there. We had issues in the house as well and were planning on using the wheelchair outside to get the downstairs bedrooms, but that was not possible. We also didn’t know that there would be well water. We definitely would’ve brought more water if we had known. Luckily there is a Dollar General down the street.

Amazing!

Gorgeous property! The house was exactly like the listing and was perfect for our retreat! Owner was very accommodating for parking and made sure we got into the house alright. Everything was very clean, just make sure you bring bottled water as it’s well water. Will definitely be recommending for future use !

Excellent location, home and stay

This property is everything it has been represented and more. We were a family group of 27 and everyone had a comfortable bed to sleep in. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed. We brought paper plates for ease of use but ended up using everything that was already there. The grounds are beautiful. We enjoyed a week of fabulous sunsets and set up a badminton net on the lawn. The water implements were good as well. We used the kayaks and other available boats. I loved the bed covers and the decorations. I bought a water cooler and had water delivered. 10 5 gallon jugs sufficed. Thank you for a wonderful family vacation. There were plenty of activities locally to satisfy old and young.

Annual Family & Friends Lakehouse Vacation

The house is wonderful for a large group. Kitchen fully equipped to serve a crowd and we were all able to sit together for meals. Beautiful wrap around porch and lots of yard space. The only downside is the lake - unfortunately no one was able to swim du to the condition of the lake (hab). It seems that this is an ongoing issue with the lake.

Great reunion for 26 family members

The house was spacious and comfortable. Everyone loved the lake access, the large backyard and the huge porch. The owner was great and respinded immediately to iur questions. Comfy bes and enough bathrooms. One caution, thiugh--drivers really FLY on the road in front so small children and pets should be kept under careful animals

Family Getaway

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Three siblings with our children and grandchildren for a total of 18 plus a one year old and a one month old. Everyone was able to spread out and have their own space if they chose. Also, plenty of areas to gather as a group…eat, chat, fish, and play games. Quite a few stairs and steep walk to the water could be difficult for some. We brought water bottles and jugs of water due to the well water. The sulfur smell did not bother us at all…it was very faint at times. Golf, ice cream, and pickleball were close by! We also went into Hammondsport, Watkins Glen, and Penn Yan.

Nice, large home

We loved our family weekend here, host was great to work with. Large home with huge side & front porch, many bedrooms, large kitchen and dining areas. Only negative was sulfur/well smell when running water, even when flushing toilet, it was too strong for us so we shut bathroom doors and used all our own water.

Cousin weekend

Our first cousin weekend was a great success. The dragonfly inn made it as easy as can be for us all to have a lot of fun with everything we need on hand. Great location on the lake. For our next stay we would like to be there for a few more days when it’s a little warmer out. Beautiful place. Host was grea. very responsive and accommodating

Sibling Vacation at Dragonfly Inn

We are four siblings who have taken a week vacation together with our families at large houses, preferably near water for about 30 years. This year was Dragonfly. The house was great, with enough beds that those who could make it, could have stayed the whole week of they wanted. There were also plenty of bathrooms (4) though one on the second floor apparently was supposed to serve11 people. The outdoor porch space was wonderful and well used, and the two indoor living rooms were also wonderful and well used. The six year old loved the games out on one side of the porch, challenging everyone else. The general area around the house also supplied lots of activities for us to enjoy. e.g. among other activities, we did the gorge walk in Watkins Glen; some of us went to the Corning Museum, some of us went to Seneca Falls to visit the women's rights museum. We all enjoyed many ice cream shops in surrounding towns. We even found some mini-golf. Our only disappointment was Lake Waneta. There was a dock that some people used for sunning, but really the lake was not swimmable. taking a kayak out to middle of the lake to jump out and swim, then climb back in was not a realistic option for us. Even getting into the kayaks in the weedy water near the dock was difficult, but doable and many of us did go out for kayak rides. We went to Keuka State Park to swim. Also bought LOTS of drinking water, as tap water had sulfur odor. Overall we had a wonderful week.

Great Family Getaway Spot!

We stayed here for a week long family getaway; there was more than enough room for all of us (from the grandparents down to the toddler) and we all easily found something to do. Some memorable highlights included sitting out on the wraparound porch morning, noon, and night, kayaking on the lake, catching fish, taking the rowboat out for a couple of spins, and even swimming off the dock. Even with the seaweed mats down, there was a TON of seaweed around the dock and we spent some time clearing it away before we got in the water. The yard is a definite slope down to the water, but we knew that going in. If you plan on sitting outside at night, be liberal with the bug spray! Bedrooms were good sizes with plenty of room. We all assumed we’d be fine to drink the water as we all grew up with well water but trust me when I say that you want to bring your own water - the well does smell extremely sulfuric and, even though the water is fine to drink, it stinks. We really enjoyed our stay here although we did think it a little rude that the cleaning lady showed up an hour early and started cleaning while we were still loading up our cars. That felt a bit unnecessary. But, overall, a great location and a nice spot to spend the week.

Perfect for a large group

We loved our stay at the Dragonfly Inn. The house is huge, the deep porch is fabulous, the small boats got heavy use, and there is so much to do in the area.

Great Week

When we got to the cottage, we notice that the owner redid the kitchen and bathroom. Everything was clean when we got there. Only thing that might be better is steps to the water. Great Week. Will do again.

My husband Gary and I live near Buffalo, NY and own a floor covering store in Lockport NY. Nancy grew up 12 miles north of Penn Yan and is familiar with life in the Finger Lakes. We started renting a cottage on Waneta Lake in 1992 and by 2000, we were ready to buy a place of our own, and you'll find us there most weekends during the summer down the lake from the Dragonfly Inn.

We have an acre of lawn to give you buffer space from other houses as well room for volley ball, and pick up football or soccer games. The very large wrap around porch lends shade from the sun and protection from the wind and rain and provides space for your entire group to lounge on one side. The spacious home provides a variety of active and relaxed areas for the diverse interests of a large group.
