Family Home With Big Yard On The Hill, Short Walk To Downtown And Lake Mansfield

Spread out in this spacious family home. The first floor has an easy flow from room to room and includes a sunny eat-in-kitchen with sit-down table and breakfast bar where family and friends have plenty of room to gather while meals are being prepared, a living room with TV/DVD player and basic cable, a dining room that seats 8+ and has a piano, and a family room with a cozy wrap-around couch. There is a half bathroom on the first floor. Enter the first floor through a large mud room with washer and dryer from the back side of the house or the comfortable front porch where you can grill on the gas grill and eat outdoors on the outdoor table that seats 8. From the dining room you can head up the stairs to the four bedrooms which share a full bathroom with a double sink. Two bedrooms have king beds, one bedroom has two full beds and one has one full bed. Each bedroom has three large windows to let in the sun and provides views of the lovely Castle Hill neighborhood. Several windows offer mountain views over the neighbors' roof tops. The house features large front, side and back yards for an in town property - great for relaxing in the lawn furniture or playing outdoors. The large paved driveway provides plenty of parking or a great place for kids to bounce a ball or ride bikes. Excellent high speed Internet available through WiFI. Window AC for bedrooms. Both bathrooms have been recently updated.

This location is one of the best in the southern Berkshires for a summer rental - just a few blocks from down town or Lake Mansfield and convenient drive to Stockbridge, Tanglewood, the Norman Rockwell Museum and other area attractions.

Amazing stay in Great Barrington!

Jessica's house is wonderful! It's spacious and very well-designed. We had everything we needed and the location was perfect for us -- a short walk to the lake and Main Street. It felt like a home away from home. We look forward to coming back next summer! I should also mention that Jessica was very quick to respond to any questions we had and a pleasure to communicate with.

The property owner, Jess, was great to work with. She was quick to respond to my questions and was very accommodating to them. Great Barrington

An older home with all the amenities we needed. Comfortable beds. A fun location for kids as there is a very organized ā€œwall of toysā€. A great neighborhood and close to downtown Great Barrington and Lake Mansfield for walks and swimming. I had one question about the internet and the owner got back to me immediately.

Perfect Vacation

We spent a great two weeks in this extremely comfortable family home in August 2024. It had a fenced in yard that was perfect for our dog Willow.. it was located in close proximity to Lake Mansfield and Great Barrington. The house was fully equipped and had AC throughout the house. Jess was easy to contact and promptly addressed all of our questions/concerns..

We truly enjoyed our stay. Great library for kids, plenty of crafts, and games. Reliable internet. Gas stove and plenty of kitchen supplies. Accommodating host. Walking distance to the lake and Main street. Perfect location to explore Berkshires.

My wife and I we enjoyed staying in such a comfortable, well stocked house. It is a pleasure to be able to walk into town. When a minor medical problem arouse that made us change some of our plans, Jessica was very considerate and accommodating - Thanks so much!

Fantastic location and great property!

My kids loved biking to the lake every day and I loved being able to walk to town for dinner. The house was very comfortable and perfect size. We enjoyed our stay!

If you have kids, stay here!

I knew this house was going to be ā€˜kid friendlyā€™ but I never could have dreamed how much so. We have 4 kids, 7 and under, they all found toys to play with and books to read. It was awesome to know when we werenā€™t out exploring the beautiful Berkshires the kids (and us!) could relax at the house and not worry about what the kids could get into next. The booking was easy and the house was in a great location and well stocked. We are dreaming of going back soon! Thanks for such a great stay!

Lovely Home in Great Barrington

My friends and I stayed at this home for two weeks. The house is located in a lovely neighborhood within walking distance to the lovely "downtown" area of Great Barrington. We found the house to be very clean, comfortable, and spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed and the sofas in the living rooms were very comfortable. The mattresses and pillows were excellent. Those with children will find many toys and games. There was plenty of parking and lovely grounds. I would definitely stay there again.

Great for kids

Great four bedroom house for travelers with children. Large playroom in the living room has plenty of toys to keep young ones occupied, kitchen is well equipped and easy to use, reasonably close walk to Lake Mansfield and downtown GB, and gas grill/eat-in screen porch was equally helpful for cooking and hosting dinners. Hosts were responsive and price was quite reasonable for the area.

Excellent summer rental!

My family spent a week at this house this summer - it was perfect! When we first entered the house we knew it was going to be a good week - the house was filled with games, toys and books for children and adults of all ages. My young sons were in heaven! They also loved playing soccer on the lawn and basketball on the driveway. The screened-in porch was perfect for grilling in any weather and the well-stocked kitchen had plenty of seating for all guests. The AC and ceiling fans in the bedrooms made sleeping comfortable, and we appreciated the half-bath on the first floor. The owners were VERY responsive, and were able to help with anything we needed. Finally, it's a short walk to Mansfield lake and to the town of Great Barrington, so there's always something to do! Overall, we'd highly recommend this rental!!

An excellent place for a vacation!

This is a spacious, comfortable home with all necessities provided. Ms. Speer-Holmes sent detailed instructions about where everything was, which made the place easy to use. She was gracious and answered the few questions I had quickly. The location, on the Hill in Great Barrington a short walk away from both downtown and Lake Mansfield, couldn't have been better. Anyone looking for a family-sized house in this part of the world will find this an excellent choice.

Nice house and great location

Great location. Short walk to great barrington and Lake Manfield. House has well appointed kitchen and lots of room. Screened porch was a bonus. There was an occasional spider or two, but that could be expected given the rustic locale. Owner was kind, but was a little hard to reach at times. Overall a very good experience.

Great Home Within Easy Walking of Downtown

Terrific home and easy walking distance into town with great dining and shops. We had enough space to invite guests and to barbeque. Our hosts we're terrific and helped out whenever we needed. We hope to return next year.

Wonderful home in quiet neighborhood with super-helpful owner

Our experience with this home was wonderful. Communicating with the owner was a breeze: she answered our questions in a timely and helpful manner. She went above and beyond getting the house ready for us, the first renters of the season. New air conditioners were purchased and installed prior to our arrival in addition to a brand new grill. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to use the grill. We did cook two amazing dinners at home in the tidy kitchen, with cheery begonias in the window. Plenty of pots, pans and kitchen essentials were easy to find. My friends and I spent most of our time at home in the comfortable living room but there is plenty of space for a whole family to spread out on the first floor with dining room and play room for the kids. The first floor common rooms were comfortable but basically a blank slate. This would be nice if we were staying the whole summer and brought our own decor, but for a short-term stay felt a little empty. We also enjoyed hanging out on the front screened porch while we ate our lunch or enjoyed a glass of wine. Upstairs, there are four large bedrooms with six comfortable beds and soft linens. Closets and dressers were completely empty and a large family or group could easily move right in for the whole season. The full bath on the second floor has a double sink and is well ventilated. It was not a problem sharing this common space with others. Both bathrooms have new fixtures and were very clean. All sinks had hand soap provided and there was shower gel in the tub: much appreciated. The windows throughout the house are new, open and close easily, and keep the house very comfortable. We ventured into Great Barrington several times, once on foot. It's an easy walk to Main Street via the stairs under the train tracks. Great shopping and restaurants in both directions. It's another easy walk up to Lake Mansfield and the adjacent trail through the woods, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Mainly we used the house as a home base to explore the Berkshires. We went to Tanglewood for a concert, hiked at Olivia's Overlook, shopped in Lenox, MA and Hudson, NY, had lunch and visited friends in West Stockbridge and even visited a overnight camp in case our kids want to come back for a summer without us! This home was perfectly located for all our needs and I would definitely consider staying at this house again with my whole family. Even the dog enjoyed it: great yard and the area stores are very dog-friendly.
