The Space:

Plaza Suite is the ideal basecamp to explore Old San Juan history, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. The suite has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, a modern and simple kitchen, and a balcony overlooking the plaza. The unit is on the 2nd floor and the building has an elevator and stairs.



You will love the combination of old-world colonial structural design and amenities such as air conditioning throughout the villa, wifi, TV, and modern yet simple decor.



The location is ideal for those looking to be close to the action in Old San Juan, next to restaurants, a plaza, and all that you need to see in this beautiful historic city. The suite comfortably sleeps 2 adults in the bedroom's king bed. The master bedroom has a beautiful balcony that overlooks the plaza, great for people watching and relaxing.



PLEASE NOTE: SOME TILES MIGHT HAVE MARKS ON THEM. THIS IS AN OLD BUILDING AND THUS, SOME OF THE ORIGINAL TILES MIGHT HAVE SOME BLEMISHES AND/OR IMPERFECTIONS ON THEM. 



IMPORTANT: THIS APARTMENT OVERLOOKS THE STREET - GUESTS WILL HEAR STREET NOISE AT NIGHT FROM FRIDAY TO SATURDAY AND THAT IS PART OF THE CHARM!





LIVING AREAS



As soon as you enter the Plaza Suite you are welcomed by an open concept layout encompassing the kitchen, dining room, and living room.  The high ceilings are an iconic design feature of the colonial architecture Old San Juan is famous for.



There is a 4 person dining table directly beside the kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a stovetop, microwave, fridge, and stocked with everything you would need for an extended stay.



The living room has a sofa and a flat-screen TV.



 

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS



Plaza Suite has one bedroom that comfortably sleeps 2 adults. The spacious bedroom has a king bed, air conditioning, and access to a full bathroom. The bedroom is appointed with fresh linens for a good night's sleep.



PACK AND PLAY (SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY): We can leave a complimentary Pack and Play at the property upon request. This should be requested upon booking or no later than 5 days before arrival. Pack and Plays are subject to availability.



 

KITCHEN



Plaza Suite kitchen is small but comfortable and was just updated with new cabinets and countertops. The kitchen has a coffee maker, stovetop, microwave, and fridge. We include enough power towels, trash bags, and dish soap for guests to comfortably start their stay.





GETTING AROUND



If staying within the general San Juan/Metro area, we recommend moving around via Uber. **This property does not include parking.**



IMPORTANT: If you need to rent a car, there are various paid parking garages around Old San Juan - pricing varies as some charge by the hour and others have a flat rate. 



 

LOCATION



Staying in Old San Juan is a truly unique experience filled with charm and character. From the property, you can comfortably walk anywhere within Old San Juan. The apartment is located on one of the quieter streets but still steps away from all the action. We recommend taking a cab from the airport and using Uber or taxi while you stay at Old San Juan. Renting a car is not necessary unless you are planning on road tripping. This is a truly walkable location with everything you need a short walk away. The apartment does not include parking. Nonetheless, there are convenient parking lots close to the apartment.  



There are many things to do in the surrounding areas, here are some of our favorites, all within walking distance:



Explore the El Morro Fort. There are daily tours of the fort and the large green areas have spectacular ocean views. Take a tour, have a picnic, and fly a kite. This is a must-do.

Explore the iconic Calle San Sebastian nightlife. There is a large assortment of bars on this strip which is a favorite among locals on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Breakfast at “La Bombonera”. This is a Puerto Rican landmark well known for its locally inspired breakfast and pastries.

Savor Stuffed Avocado. Healthy and "trendy" spot where you can create your own avocado bowl.

Take a stroll around “Paseo La Princesa”, a waterfront walkway which you can start off at El Morro and finish of the walk with a rum tasting at Princesa Gastrobar at the end of the trail.



Other Things to Note:

STARTER AMENITIES



At West Indies Vacation Rentals, we strive to provide top-notch amenities, ensuring our guests feel at home during their stay.



All properties come with freshly laundered bed linens and towels. We provide 2 bath towels per guest and 1 beach towel per guest.



We provide a set of disposable essentials to help you get your vacation started comfortably. These include:



- 1 set of hotel-size soap and shampoo (per bathroom)

- 3 garbage bags

- 1 roll of paper towels

- 2 rolls of toilet paper (per bathroom)

- 1 dish soap

- 1 dish sponge



Please note that we do not provide unlimited disposable amenities. It is the guest’s responsibility to review what is included in the property and stock any additional items needed for the duration of the stay.



Most properties also include at least 2 beach chairs and an ice cooler. You may reach out to us 5 days before arrival for confirmation.





HOUSE RULES



RENTAL AGREEMENT: All bookings require a signed Short-Term Rental Agreement, which will be sent upon confirmation of your reservation. Guests must upload a valid photo ID (no selfies) that matches the name on the credit card used for the booking. The agreement must be signed within 48 hours of booking or prior to entering the property, whichever comes first. Check-in instructions will not be provided until the agreement is completed.



NO SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property. A $500 smoking fee will be charged if this rule is violated.



NO PETS: While we are pet lovers, pets are not permitted at the property at any time. A $300 fine will be charged if this rule is violated, and guests may be asked to leave the property.



QUIET HOURS: Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Please be mindful of noise during these hours out of respect for nearby residents/neighbors.



UTILITIES (WATER & ELECTRICITY): In the event of an interruption to water or electrical service, the host is not responsible for hotel, alternate lodging, or transportation expenses. If service is interrupted for more than 3 hours, guests may cancel the reservation and request a refund for unused nights only. Nights already used are non-refundable.



MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: The maximum occupancy is 2 adults/children at all times, including visitors.



OCCUPANCY ENFORCEMENT: Occupancy limits are strictly enforced. Exceeding the maximum occupancy may result in immediate cancellation of the reservation or removal from the property without refund.



TOWELS & LINENS: Towels and linens are provided for normal use only. Please do not use them for cleaning or allow them to be stained with food, grease, or other substances. Charges may apply for damaged or stained items.



TOWEL HANGING: Please do not hang towels or any other items to dry in areas visible from outside the unit. A $100 community fine may apply if this rule is violated.



SUBLETTING: Subletting or re-renting the property is not permitted.





CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT TIMES



Check-in begins at 4:00 PM, and since this is a self-check-in unit, you can arrive anytime after that.



If you’d like to check in earlier, please contact us the day before your arrival, and we’ll confirm availability. When possible, early check-in typically starts around 11:00 AM. Please note that early check-in is subject to availability and depends on our cleaning schedule.



If you need a guaranteed early check-in, you will need to book from the night prior to ensure the property is ready upon your arrival.



Check-out time is at 11:00 AM. For late check-out requests, please reach out the day before your departure, and we’ll be happy to check availability for you.





TRAVEL INSURANCE / HURRICANE SEASON



We strongly recommend that all guests purchase travel insurance, not only during the peak months of Hurricane Season (July to October) but also throughout the year to cover unexpected events such as travel delays, pandemics, or other unforeseen issues.



Travel insurance is inexpensive and can reimburse travelers for most expenses associated with canceling travel outside of the cancellation window; however, coverage will depend on the policy purchased. Make sure to review and understand the options before purchase.

Perfect location, great balcony

The apartment was very clean and in a great location. The best part is the balcony overlooking a square and a historic church.

Great apartment with balcony, in the heart of "Old San Juan"

Apartment was clean, comfortable & quiet!! Very relaxing, high ceilings. King size bed was very comfortable. Balcony overlooks a park. Great location, easy to walk (or Uber). Many restaurants close by. Kitchen was well equipped. WIFI was strong & reliable. Keypad access was easy after you first get the hang of it!! Like most old buildings, elevator was slow, but it never failed, just slow... Apt is on the 2nd floor, so we usually walked down & only took the elevator up. We arrived at 11pm and "Lockbox" check-in with the "Keypad" was easy. Management representative Joselyn was very helpful and quick to answer emails/ Whatsapp messages. We had a family emergency & she was able to help us with that too. We would definitely stay here again!!

Yikes - gross and unsafe

I'll start with the good: the location was perfect and, I have to admit, the property manager did answer when I called and was courteous. The rest was a nightmare. Avoid this management company. When I arrived, the building was dirty (not a great impression) and the apt door looked like it had been pried open at one point (and never fixed). I entered the code I was sent by email. The last person's stuff was still there! There was a pile of sheets and things on the bed (I think they just slept on the mattress?), old food in the fridge, bathroom dirty. The whole place looked like it had been dirty for a long time (sticky grime along the floors, stained and saggy couch, large areas of no grout in tile, shades torn). I was really freaked out. Called the manger. They said this had "never happened before" and told me to use the unit next door - which was only marginally cleaner (again nasty floors, heavily stained sofa, heavily stained blanket on bed). I told the manager that it was not just the person's stuff being there, but the apartment was clearly very dirty - concerning in a pandemic - and if they could please mop the floor (all of it) and clean and sanitize well. She responded it was "a really old building" (assuming I had never lived in old buildings?) but this was not old building stuff. This was something nasty was on the floor and never properly cleaned, not mopped in months if not years, not dusted, no grout in tiles and never repaired, missing light fixture, something nasty stuck inside the dryer) deferred maintenance and lack of cleaning. Hallway and elevator were the same - the bag of dirty towels removed from the apt just sat in the hall. Anyway - the next day they told me the room had been cleaned - but it was just a superficial cleaning because the same grime spots were still on the floor. No mattress pad. Yuck. They didn't change the code on the door and I was worried about safety and wanted a new code. They told me that code gets changed after every guest, but wouldn't change the code. I told them I wanted to leave and go elsewhere, but they only offered a one day refund (and I checked out early anyway so basically there was no remedy). So, if you want a good location with a flop house vibe and are not big on cleanliness or safety, go for it.

Old San Juan Apt

This place provided everything I needed for my stay my only complaint is the loose metal plate in the road outside the bedroom window. Every car hits it and it is very loud so if your like me and sleep light be cause of the military you won't get much sleep other then that its perfect.
