"Over The River"

West Jefferson, NC - Over The River and thru the woods….takes you to one of the best three level vacation homes you'll find! The main level features an open living area complete with internet TV and gas fireplace, gourmet kitchen, dining area with mountain views, a full bath, bedroom with queen, another child's bedroom with two sets of twin bunks that both have trundles (sleeping 6 in that room). Upstairs is the master suite with extra comfy king bed and TV, private bath with soaking tub and shower. Downstairs offers a comfy den area with additional dining/game table, a bedroom with king bed and another full bath with tub and shower. So if you are looking for a peaceful mountain setting with river access & long-range mountain views this is the place to be. Located between West Jefferson and Glendale Springs, and close to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

For some winter fun, head to one of our three most popular ski resorts: Appalachian Ski Mtn, Sugar Mtn, or Beech Mtn.

NOTE: there are exterior security cameras pointed at the driveway for your safety.

Over The River is a Carolina Mountain Vacation Rentals property. Our calendar and rates are updated instantaneously. We strive to make it as easy as possible to stay at one of our properties. We will notify you proactively when an early check in is possible and you’ll receive the comforts of a luxury home when you arrive with a starter supply of paper products, hand soaps and lotions. In addition, we offer 24/7 emergency after hours service. Carolina Mountain Properties & Rentals uses one of the industry’s most trusted brand of software to securely store all guest data. Beautiful, peaceful location for a cabin. Large home with separate sleeping areas and two roomy common areas. Had some trouble with the refrigerator and freezer not working properly, but the property manager was right on top of it! Would stay in this gorgeous home again!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Accommodations were excellent. Beds and furniture were super comfortable. Decorations were precious. Just what we needed to get in the Christmas spirit. Everything was very clean. A couple of kitchen issues- ice maker didn’t work and front right burner on stove wasn’t working, but that didn’t really slow us down. Kitchen was well stocked with cookware and dishes. We had a wonderful visit!!

Beautiful Property and home

This house was amazing. They had games, a hiking trail to the river, and plenty of space for our family of 9!! We would loved every part of the home.

Mountain getaway weekend

The property was beautiful, clean, secluded. It was well stocked with supplies. We had a very relaxing weekend away from everything and everyone. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Get Away with Family

The house and property are beautiful. The space was perfect for us (3 families, 4 kids and 6 adults). We really enjoyed the fire pit and outdoor areas. Communicating with the host was easy and I received prompt responses to my questions. We would love to stay here again!

River trip

We really enjoyed the stay and waking up to a beautiful Mountain view each morning. House was beautiful just missing a couple of tv In the adult rooms otherwise no problems.

Amazing!

We booked this location for a surprise 70th birthday excursion for my dad. The entire family loved it! The location is beautiful and the house is fantastic and well appointed. We will certainly return!

Wonderful time for whole family at Over The River

Best View Ever!

This cabin has the best view of any cabin we have previously stayed in. It was so restful to just go on the deck, rock, and view God's handiwork in nature. We definitely recommend this one!

It’s in a wonderful location with a 15 minute drive into the charming downtown of West Jefferson. Groceries are even closer. We would highly recommend this beautiful vacation home!

Great customer service from Carolina Mountain Properties—everyone we talked to was very friendly and super helpful!

Secluded, but in a GOOD way!

I booked it as a getaway for my wife and I for our anniversary but would definitely book again and bring some family and friends along! Has all the amenities to entertain all ages! Plus, unlike other properties along the same road, offers a decent amount of space outside for activities and a trail to the river. Only cons would be there aren’t many places around for food or what not but the property has everything you need to prepare meals just have to provide the food. So plan ahead and bring meals and snacks

We played lots of football, arcade games, board games, card games, watched some DVD movies and live TV sports and movies as well. I would caution other renters that the kitchen only has salt and pepper, the bathrooms only have soap (no shampoo, conditioner, lotion, makeup remover toilettes), and there was only enough laundry detergent for one load. We ended up having to make another 25 minute drive into Boone to get some of these items.

Thank you for leaving a review of your recent stay at Over The River. This home offers a varierty of games and entertainment. We do not leave anything in the kitchen area that can be tampered with and we do indicate in the rental agreement that you are responsible for spices, cooking oil and any tolietries that you may need during your stay. We do leave small handsoaps in each bathroom to get you started. The town of West Jefferson is just a 10 minute driveway with an Ingles supermarket and a Walmart. We do hope you will stay with us again.

Mountains with a view!

We really enjoyed staying here! The house was comfortable enough for both families of 4. The house had everything we needed and we loved that it was secluded with a view but still close to the grocery store and downtown! If I had to have one complaint it would be the hot water. So long as only one person was using the shower the water was fine but if more than one got turned on the shower would turn ice cold! After it happening twice we just didn’t shower lol. Also, the house is along the river but has a very steep path down to the water. We did a tubing excursion so didn’t have a need to go down there! Firepit and cornhole were also a huge hit! Thanks for letting us stay!

Amazing Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We absolutely loved this cabin. At first we thought the gps was taking us the wrong way, when we passed over the little bridge lol. But when we arrived at the cabin, it was breathtaking. Sitting up on the hill overlooking the mountains... beautiful. The cabin was very accommodating for everyone. We had an amazing vacation and we spent many hours on the deck, enjoying the view. We brought my in laws with us, first time they have ever been to Ashe County. My father-in-law suffered a massive stroke in 2020 so we were looking for a place that was easy access for him to move around. He took it slow getting up the steps to front door but once he was inside everything was right there for him on the main floor. They loved it and can’t wait to come back. They said it was the best vacation they have ever been on. And the most beautiful cabin they have ever seen. Sadly my father-in-law had another stroke 3 weeks ago and has been in rehab to learn how to walk again. I am so Thankful we were able to have this vacation together and make memories. He is determined to come back to the cabin. He keeps saying in August. We are keeping positive. Looking forward to coming back to Ashe soon. Hoping to bring my parents next time as well.

It is a magnificent home with something for everyone and the owner has just finished making the trail down to the river more open and hopefully more easily walkable though it is still steep. Absolutely wonderful home!

I don't know what was more spectacular, the house itself or the views! Kitchen was well-stocked, combination of wood and stone throughout was beautiful. Kids room had absolutely Everything a child could hope for, and downstairs living area was just as awesome as upstairs - not like a basement at all! The road up to the house was a bit of a challenge but we made it without issues - four wheel drive came in handy! The view was incredible and the fire pit area was perfect for getting together and roasting s'mores. Saw turkeys, a bear and deer across the mountain, many rabbits and birds on property. Will definitely book again!

Kayaking trip

It was a birthday weekend and a kayaking. Kids got on river and it stormed. Had to cut it short but it was a great family get to gather and the house was beautiful.
