Trails await you right out the back-door for ORV, Dirt Bikes or Side by Sides. This secluded, family-friendly chalet sits on 75 wooded acres surrounded by state land that keeps it so peaceful!!!! There is so much to do right on the property, and so much so close to you while you visit. This is the relaxing getaway you have been looking for!!!
This charming chalet has 2 bedrooms, of which (1) is a loft, 1 bathroom, and approximately 1,146 square feet of living space. This peaceful paradise is perfect for families, friends, or couples out for a bonding experience with Mother Nature. This little piece of paradise has all the amenities you need to feel as comfortable as possible during your stay here, including air conditioning, TV's with DVD players for your entertainment w/ plenty of DVD's, a fully equipped kitchen, complete with all the essential cooking appliances and a dishwasher, grill for barbecuing. When the sun goes down, gather around the fire pit for an evening of campfire stories, s’mores, and stargazing. It doesn’t get any better than this!!!
The property is conveniently situated (5) miles off US 131 / (5) miles off of US 65, providing easy access to all kinds of activities, from swimming and boating to fishing and hunting to snowmobiling, hiking and biking. There are hundreds of groomed trails for right out your back door! Gas, food, beer & wine are just a short ride into town. Within miles of the cabin, you’ll find opportunities for horseback riding, canoeing, and tubing when the season is right. Fife Lake, Grand Traverse Bay, Torch Lake, Elk Lake along with many others are only a short trip away. The golfers and skiers in your group will be pleased to find excellent local golf courses and ski resorts just miles away.

Very peaceful and relaxing

The location was perfect for a quiet setting away from the busy areas of Traverse City to relax and also listen to the wildlife in the neighboring woods. A nice place to take day trips from and come back to.

Tranquil Retreat

Everything about this place is awesome! Location, back deck over looking the forest (not to mention new deck and furniture and pergola), lighted fire pit, walking trails, and well stocked kitchen. Peaceful get away, close to Torch Lake and Traverse City, but not too close, very secluded. No wifi, but we had a hot spot and it worked great. Can’t wait to stay again!

High school buddies get away. Great improvement on the deck it looks great was nice eating breakfast out there and just relaxing. You are really making nice improvements every year.

Fishing trip

This property was perfect for our trip. We had a fishing tournament and stood at tbis property for 2 night. Tons of parking for vehicles with trailers. The property land was breathtaking. The back deck that over looked the property was beautiful. This property was very clean and also very close to town.

Great cabin

We had a nice stay at your cabin. Cabin was clean had everything we needed it was close to a project we were working on, so my workers used it. But I would definitely bring my family to this cabin.

Gorgeous cabin for family stay

Our family loved staying at this property. The grounds are beautiful and the cabin is very comfortable and well-maintained. Checking in was easy and the owner was also easy to contact and responsive. We would definitely book here again!

Whiskey Retreat

We have stayed here close to 8 years and the owners keep making improvements on the cabin. We like the privacy and location close to Torch lake and Traverse City. This is a great ace to get away

Peaceful and serene setting

Property is as described. House is very clean. No Wi-Fi was a bummer. But, we knew this going in. Explored the property, via walking trails. A word of warning to bring your tick spray and check yourself. They are bad, in northern Michigan, right now. Being experienced, we expected this and prepared/checked ourselves upon return. Very nice place in a serene setting. We saw plenty of turkey.

Would Stay Again

We loved this little chalet in the woods. It was very clean and had available everything we needed for our stay. The weather wasn’t great while we were there, but that didn’t keep us from exploring the walking trails on the property. We were close to town and the drive to Traverse was faster than anticipated. We would recommend this location as it was great for our little family vacation.

Nice Place

We booked this home last minute. Kim was wonderful with communication and accommodating us on such short notice. The house was comfortable, we had our toddler and infant with us. The description is accurate when it says that you need to provide any additional items you might need. The fire pit was nice and we enjoyed it. We were disappointed to learn the wash machine had not been working, although I’m sure it’ll be fixed. Some more comfortable furniture for the deck would have been nice to be able to relax on the deck more, there were just very basic chairs out there.

Great location and property for our stay!!

We arrived late after a day at Slleeping Bear and had easy access into the home. It was well furnished, clean, games and movies for the kids and plenty of linens and towels for our stay. We enjoyed evening bonfires and walks through the woods but didn't see much wildlife. The kids found a "treehouse" that turned out to be a blind but they enjoyed climbing and hanging out in it. We were told to supply our own toiletries, i.e , soap, shampoo, toulet paper, paper towels, etc but the last guests must have left theirs so we had double because we purchased everything. We also had to purchase wood for the firepit but we had beautiful star filled evenings and a gorgeous view so no complaints. Overall we fully enjoyed and would come back!!

Large but Cozy Cabin in Beautiful Kalkaska!

Check in was simple, the host was very quick at responding, and the house was well stocked even though the listing said it wouldn’t be. The fire pit was a walk away from the cabin but the area was perfect. This is going to be the best future vacation spot ever! Can’t wait to come back with my kids!

Quite getaway.

Very cute cabin with beautiful view out back deck. Plenty of room for our family of four. Our kids enjoyed picking moves out to watch and playing games in the evenings. Great getaway! I had a question for Kim and she was very quick to respond. My husband said 10 out of 10.

Great get-away that's not far away from amenities

This is an older family cottage/cabin that's been refurbished nicely to feel virtually new. Full-size kitchen and bath, two bedrooms, and an amazing setting. We brought our own wood and enjoyed the nicest campfire setting you could imagine. Lots of room to stretch out and enjoy Northern Michigan's serenity, wildlife, and fun walks.
