The Space:
Nestled in the 500-year-old historic Spanish colonial city of Old San Juan, Villa Terracota is the ideal venue to explore Old San Juan history, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. The villa has 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a spacious living room alongside a clean & modern kitchen and dining area for 4. You will appreciate the combination of old-world colonial structural design and new world amenities such as air conditioning throughout the villa, wifi, TV, and modern yet simple decor. The location is ideal for those looking to be close to the action in Old San Juan, next to restaurants, a plaza and all that you need to see in this beautiful historic city. The villa comfortably sleeps 6 adults. 

8/23/23 CONSTRUCTION NOISE: Please be aware that starting on August 28th you may experience light construction noise as there will be starting renovations on one of this building's units. Construction will be ongoing Monday through Friday 7AM to 5PM. This should last about 4 months.

PLEASE NOTE: Some tiles might have marks on them. This is an old building and thus, some of the original tiles might have some blemishes and/or imperfections on them. 


LIVING AREAS

As you enter, you’ll be greeted by the modern kitchen which is a couple of steps away from the spacious living area. The living room is decorated with rich terracotta & green colors which makes the space feel tropical and breezy. Features an L shape sofa, state of the art flat-screen TV, AC, dining table for 4 and a modern sleek kitchen.
 

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

Villa Terracota has three bedrooms that comfortably sleeps 6 adults. The 1st bedroom has a bunk bed with twin beds, its quirky & colorful decor makes the room feel colorful and fun. 2nd bedroom has a full-size bed, with green and grey tones throughout. The spacious Master bedroom has a queen bed, two side tables, air conditioning, access to a full bathroom and a spacious closet. All three are appointed with fresh linens for a good night's sleep!

 
KITCHEN

Villa Terracota has a comfortable kitchen, which was just recently renovated with new cabinets and countertops. The kitchen has a coffee maker, stovetop, microwave, and fridge. It features a beautiful traditional Spanish window for plenty of natural light. We include enough paper towels, trash bags, and dish soap for guests to comfortably start their stay. 

 
LOCATION

Staying in Old San Juan is a truly unique experience filled with charm and character. From the property, you can comfortably walk anywhere within Old San Juan. The apartment is located on one of the quieter streets but still steps away from all the action. We recommend taking a cab from the airport and using Uber or taxi while you stay at Old San Juan. Renting a car is not necessary unless you are planning on road tripping. This is a truly walkable location with everything you need a short walk away. The apartment does not include parking. Nonetheless, there are convenient parking lots close to the apartment.  

There are many things to do in the surrounding areas, here are some of our favorites, all within walking distance:

Explore the El Morro Fort. There are daily tours of the fort and the large green areas have spectacular ocean views. Take a tour, have a picnic, and fly a kite. This is a must-do.
Explore the iconic Calle San Sebastian nightlife. There is a large assortment of bars on this strip which is a favorite among locals on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Breakfast at “La Bombonera”. This is a Puerto Rican landmark well known for its locally inspired breakfast and pastries.
Savor Stuffed Avocado. Healthy and "trendy" spot where you can create your own avocado bowl.
Take a stroll around “Paseo La Princesa”, a waterfront walkway which you can start off at El Morro and finish of the walk with a rum tasting at Princesa Gastrobar at the end of the trail.


GETTING AROUND

This property does not include parking. If staying within the general San Juan/Metro area, we recommend moving around via Uber. If you decide to rent a car, there are various paid parking garages around Old San Juan - pricing varies as some charge by the hour and others have a flat rate. 


TRAVEL INSURANCE

We strongly recommend that all guests purchase travel insurance, especially during the peak months of Hurricane Season, which are July to October. Travel insurance is inexpensive and will reimburse travelers for most expenses associated with canceling travel outside of the cancellation window; however, this will depend on what the coverage purchased covers. Make sure to review and understand the options before purchase. Disclaimer: we are not associated with any travel insurance companies.


AMENITIES

West Indies strives to deliver top-notch service and amenities to guarantee our guests feel at home while visiting our properties. All of our properties are outfitted with freshly laundered bed linens and towels. We provide 2 bath towels per guest and 1 beach towel per guest. Our properties typically include at least 2 beach chairs and an ice cooler.

West Indies provides the disposable amenities necessary to get your vacation off to a comfortable start. These amenities include 1 set of hotel size soaps and shampoos per bathroom, 3 garbage bags, 1 roll of paper towel, 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, 1 dish soap, and 1 dish sponge. We do not provide unlimited disposable amenities. It is your responsibility to review what is included in the property and stock with whatever else may be needed for the duration of your stay. 


HOUSE RULES

Check-in time is at 4:00 pm
Check-out time is at 11:00 am
NO SMOKING: Smoking is strictly prohibited. A smoking fee of $500 will be charged if violated.
NO PETS: No pets are allowed at any time. A $300 fine will be charged if violated and you will be expelled from the property.
Building quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. Please keep noise levels down during these hours out of respect to the neighbors.
The host will not pay for a hotel, vacation rental, or transportation expenses incurred because of an interruption in water or electrical service.  If water or electricity is interrupted for more than 3 hours, guests have the option of canceling their reservation and requesting a refund for the nights not used. Under no circumstances will we refund consumed nights.
All bookings are contingent on signing a short term rental agreement that will be sent via email. It must be signed within 48 hours of booking or before entering the property, whichever happens first.
Maximum occupancy of 6 adults/children at all times. This includes visitors. 
Max. occupancy is strictly enforced and exceeding it may result in immediate cancellation of booking or being expelled from the property.    
Towels and linens must only be used for their intended purpose. Do not stain them with food, grease or any other substance. Do not use towels to clean up any mess. Stained towels/linens will be charged. 
Do not hang towels from the windows. A $100 fine may be applied if you break this rule. 
Subletting not allowed

We will share recommendations on things to do and places to eat prior to your arrival and we are available to provide suggestions for any other activities you may be interested in doing during your trip. Clean and convenient
Nice location in old San Juan. Clean and convenient. Only issue was that the AC created a lot of condensation and water on the floor but property manager was very responsive.

OSJ perfect location!
Perfect location for stay in OSJ. Easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, fort…everything you want to see. Definitely don’t need a car. 4th floor, spacious, clean, would stay again.

CONSUMER BE ASVISED this unit is on the 4th floor. Not suitable for seniors with limited mobility, individuals with health problems, nor those with physical disabilities. In the event that the elevator is inoperable (as was our case upon arrival), be prepared to climb 6 flights of stairs in an environment that is not under air conditioning. In the event of an emergency such as a fire, there are neither windows with which to escape (extremely narrow, impassable) nor fire escape ladders on the exterior of the building. As mentioned previously, the elevator was not working upon our arrival to the premises, so my group, which included my 72 year old uncle and 79 year old mother had to climb 6 flights of stairs. I was concerned for their safety, as they had issues climbing the staircase, as they were not physically able to do so without struggle. They managed to make it to the unit, but I was concerned for my mother because she was having difficulty breathing, as she is asthmatic and was out of breath from the arduous climb. Although the host replied to our concerns that the elevator would be fixed, there was no follow up regarding our request to be transferred to another unit or property, nor our concern for safety. Our concerns fell on deaf ears by the host as well as the platform with which this property is advertised. We did not stay at the unit due to safety concerns and may not receive a refund of $2,200 for a property we did not occupy. Reserve at your own risk.

The property was spacious and clean. The beds were also comfortable. The kitchen could have been stocked a little better, especially the silverware as the unit was for 6 people but only had cutlery for 4 people, but we were able to get by with the basics that were provided.

nice and comfortable apartment
Overall, we had a great stay. There were 3 adults and 2 kids who stayed in the apartment. It was a nice, spacious apartment in a rehabilitated building with an elevator. While the elevator was very slow, we appreciated having the convenience of using it, esp since many buildings don't have that amenity. The stairs were also good exercise so either way is fine!
