Four bedroom beach house with large deck and only a short walk to Cylinder Beach, the Straddie Hotel, shops and public transport. This property has been totally refurbished and is a modern beach house. Top level is lounge, kitchen dining, two bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a large deck with good sea and bush views. There is a whale watching tower off this deck allowing even more commanding water views. Internal stairs lead to the downstairs which has two bedrooms plus second large living area leading to another balcony also with water views. The laundry and a third bathroom are also on this level.

Features: 4 bedrooms (3 Queens, 2 King Singles, 3 bathrooms, pool table, 2 TVs, 2 x DVD Players, CD Player, Dishwasher, Microwave, "Nespresso" coffee machine, washing machine, gas BBQ on top deck.

Great home for family stays

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Cylinder Palms is a great home that has lots of space for everyone. It's only a short walk to the hotel, shops and beach, and about 1-2kms to the Bowls Club and Cafes/Restaurants. It is well presented and comes with many facilities and amenities.The only downside was the cleanliness. The showers had quite a bit of mould and soap build up in the showers and the kitchen cupboards, drawers and some cooking equipment was dirty. I spent a couple of hours in the kitchen pulling out cutlery, crockery, catering equipment and cookware, cleaning the draws and cupboards, throwing out broken items and creating some form of organisation and practicality. Cleaners of such properties should be engaged on an annual basis to do this kind of deep clean to ensure it's kept to a high standard for guests. This information, broken items and photos were provided to the managers with a recommendation for a site inspection.

Surprisingly large and generous home very suitable for a large family. The downside is that parking is not easy except if vehicles are kept in the road in front of the house. Also, this house is not really a beach house. Getting to the beach is quite an athletic excursion by foot, especially for anyone over 55. The views from the house and the general ambiance are excellent. Overall, a very holiday-inducing house and a relaxing experience.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We love Straddie. I have been coming for 60 yrs. Cylinder Palms was spacious, furnishings in the lounge suit young folks more so than older as very low. Dining chair basic and not comfy. Beds great. We used all bed covers provided as it was cold. No air conditioning or heaters. Fire alarms went off at 338am and another evening due to ? Humidity, we were told. Crockery was minimal. An 8 setting dinner set should be provided when house is advertised for 8 adults. Only 5 dessert bowls so I purchased 6 more and 4 more coffee cups to boost supplies. The online photos dint indicate the steep block. 17 steps between levels. Again not suitable for those with mobility issues.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Location was great. House needs a lot of updates and a better clean for new guests. No fans or aircon in main area or fly screens in bedrooms was not ideal in warm conditions. Glad we only paid what we did.

A Wonderful Position

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Once again, we had a relaxing stay. Cylinder Palms is in a great location which is close to the beach and shops. The view is wonderful. We will definitely be back particularly as we can bring our dog. There were a few maintenance problems and the property management took note. The cleaners do a fine job cleaning the floors, kitchen and bathrooms but the house needs a deep clean e.g., the kitchen drawers are dirty and pillows and bed covers need replacing.

Spacious house with fabulous ocean views

Beautiful experience

The view on third floor could do with replacement cushions that are stored inside when nobody in house. And the cutlery looked like it came out of an op shop. Area space was fantastic the second floor needed updated table and chairs. Would rent this property again if some of these little details were fixed.

Top views, comfort and space

My husband and I had a lovely, relaxing stay at Cylinder Palms and we both highly recommend it for couples or families as the house has two floors. It is beautifully located and an easy walk to the beach. It was also great to be able to take our dog.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had issues with the bed linen - it was extremely dirty (doona cover) and doonas and pillows that were stored in the cupboard were mouldy. We left these out on the beds so that they would be seen. I have photos if you are interested. There were broken chairs (2 downstairs and one upstairs) . There were live cockroaches and evidence of them in the kitchen drawers. We had to wash kitchen pots and pans before we used them.The house itself needs a good clean - we swept up dog hair, that must have been there for sometime. Kitchen needs a thorough clean including wiping down the cupboards. The layout of the home was fine, bathrooms were good. The real estate kept in contact with us very well, as there were roofing contractors working when we arrived, however they did not impede our booking in and were very courteous.

Straddie mini break

Verandahs great although back verandah couldn't keep a kelpie in. Layout is good having 2 separate living spaces. Young grandkids managed the walk to the beaches well.

Beautiful view and outlook Kitchen well equipped. Awesome art on the walls .Sadly cleanliness & maintenance lets it down considerably!!!The fans in the bedrooms all need to be replaced .The fans are old and slow - producing no air .The home needs a massive spring clean , under the beds are super dusty , bathrooms need scrubbing .We loved the design of the home - great for our family of 8 adults , toddler & dog.Having a dog friendly house is brilliant but unfortunately the outdoor furniture is covered in dog hair .We would stay again on the conditions it Is thoroughly cleaned before our arrival .I definitely know we left it cleaner than when we arrived.Please to the Owner of Cylinder Palms take these comments as constructive and act on them to preserve your stunning Straddie Beach Home

Reviewer Comments: This property is in a fantastic location and is very spacious to accomodate two families comfortably.Unfortunately the property need some maintenance, furniture upgrades. The linen on the beds were damp and filthy and the couch was full of dog hair and sand. The kitchen appliances, cupboards and draws were dirty. The bedrooms came with a total of one coat hanger and the bedrooms did not have working ceiling lights or efficient fans. This property has so much potential but needs a lot of work for the cost of staying there.

Unkept and unloved house

The condition of the property is atrocious, the barbecue, you couldn’t cook on it is so filthy I do have photographs The stove is absolutely unusable grease everywhere, left the oven trays outside the Rangehood has probably not been serviced in years. It’s very very greasy and it’s got mould in it. The towels are all tatted and threadbare on the edges. The TV was so old, I couldn’t cast to it, the fans we had to clean our self. They were absolutely filthy and the remote controls were taken away from them so the only light you had in the bedrooms were bedside lamps It was such a pity because the island is absolutely beautiful so we spent most of our time away from the house would never ever stay there again I would never ever get something through ray white again. Absolutely useless Colin Minton. PS the downstairs TV didn’t work. I think the batteries probably gone in the remote control.

Excellent Location & Views

Reviewer Comments: The house was terrific, plenty of space but the kitchen could have been better equipped, plenty of crockery & cutlery but lacked pots and pans. The bifold windows and doors need some attention, very hard to open and close. The ceiling fans in the bedrooms were very much in need of a very good clean ... due to this I was rather disappointed on the cleanliness of the place. If the cleaning & maintenance issues are rectified this would be somewhere I would stay again and recommend.

Great house for a big group

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A fabulous house that easily accommodated the 7 of us with dual living upstairs and down. Good location within walking distance to pub (all downhill) and then courtesy bus home. Has only partial sea views with a bit more from the whale watch deck. Beds comfy and decor great however fan in main room made a loud noise so very annoying. We were there in extremely hot Feb weather and although we could open up all sliding doors to verandahs, I would suggest the owners put some good ceiling fans in the living areas as it was really hot. Kitchen was well equipped with everything you need. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Beautiful location, great views, large spacious home, comfortable, great for a large group, can have a dog there. Needs some maintenance and a good spring clean. One door was jammed, ceiling fan in one room not working. Overall a great place, will be coming back.
