Wonderful New Year’s with family celebrating the engagement of our son and future daughter! 21 Bufflehead was the perfect home for our two families to enjoy the engagement, relax, and start wedding planning!

This a fantastic property. Everything was scrupulously clean, spacious, smartly decorated, and convenient. The elevator is a godsend. The kitchen had everything we needed. It’s so close to the beach and the pool was wonderful. We are planning to stay here again.

70th Celebration

This lovely estate with a pool and gas grill was well maintained and updated in its decor.The house had a water filtration system and carbon monoxide detector which were very appreciated add on’s. The 400 credit for the beach gear was a wonderful treat.

Great home but in need of some repairs.

A beautiful home with lots of space. The shower in the master bath was not functional in terms of temperature regulation - dial was broken. Another shower had a broken handle as well but the temp could be regulated. Property manager was unable to get a plumber while we were there. The first part of the week the door out to the pool was very difficult to lock & we had a toddler which caused concern. Someone did come to fix that. Unable to adequately cool the master bedroom on the 2nd floor - other rooms did cool adequately. Bedrooms were spacious & beds were very comfortable. Kitchen was well appointed but cabinets were worn. Pool & deck were very nice. Easy ride or walk to the beach.

We certainly never want maintenance issues to arise, but they do occasionally happen and we are only able to address them as they do. We are glad that we were able to get the door addressed for your stay and the plumbing addressed shortly after. This is a beautiful property in a great location. It was a great venue for our family celebration. We stayed in the same property several years ago and have had other great rentals from Akers Ellis.This year this property was showing its age and needed better cleaning and maintenance. Among other issues, one of the bathrooms was very dirty and the shower handle fell off. Kitchen surfaces were gritty and floors needed attention. The elevator did not work. We addressed the basic issues when we arrived. Akers Ellis also responded quickly but based on the price, we had higher expectations.

Perfect for golf groups

This house sets up well for a Kiawah golf vacation, with plenty of beds and a central location. The pool is a nice touch as well.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: house isnt really ready for rentals. the bedrooms upstairs do not have dressers. one porch door upstairs would not latch and stay closed. no lamps in a lot of places where they would make sense, like entry, den, etc., so either bright overhead lights or no lights at all. TV in den is not at all self-explanatory to use. dining room seats 7-8, house accommodates 16. third floor has no a/c, this is the bunk room. fan in master bedroom is either on high or not on. same with small sitting room off dining room. not a dimmer switch in sight, so really bright or off for most lighting. it is like they bought an expensive house and had maybe $5,000 left over to equip the place. interior and furniture etc. is not up to par with the house generally and Kiawah standard certainly. washing machine had mold growing in it.

We are sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with the home. Please note that many of the things mentioned (number of chairs at dining table, no dressers in a few bedrooms, lack of additional lamps) are clearly pictured in the home's listing and 3D virtual tour provided on our website. Additionally, I see that our team did promptly address any concerns that were brought to our attention during your stay. I don't see that we were notified of any issues with the A/C or fans throughout your time with us. I am pleased to advise that other guests have not reported similar issues throughout this busy season, so we can only assume much of this is down to personal preference.

Wonderful Home in an Amazing Location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We really could not have been happier with our stay at 21 Bufflehead. The home was close to perfect for our group of 8. Pool was an absolute amazing amenity and received sunlight just about the entire day. The property was clean throughout. Very easy access to the beach via bike or walking. We found the kitchen to be well stocked with utensils, plates, pots, pans, etc. The rooms that had TVs worked perfectly and the wifi held up throughout the trip very well. We had a draining issue in the downstairs master bath and the folks at Akers Ellis sent someone out about as quick as we could have expected. The issues we experienced were mild, but the freezer could not even closely keep up with the ice we needed (and we weren't filling coolers or anything like that); the second and third floor were fairly warm - the thermostat never hit the desired temp; the doors to the back of the house were very tricky in some spots and required a lot of strength and maneuvering to get locked up; the master bath shower wand on the main floor didn't work. It would have been nice to have three more TVs so each room had one, now that they are so inexpensive as well.A lot of that is nitpicking however, because we loved our stay at the home and we can't wait to use Akers Ellis again on our next trip to Kiawah and we'd definitely consider this home again as well.

Great location and spacious

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a spacious and clean property and excellent for a large group. The two master suites are perfect ways to provide some separation along with comfort. Living space is good and Entertainment (cable and internet service) good (we could not get the outdoor speakers to operate, but had our own portable so worked out). Kitchen has all the utensils and pots and pans you need but knives are are old and not sharp. Plenty of dishes and glassware. Description indicates there is use of the elevator - there is NOT which was a serious disappointment, mainly fir getting things up for move in and checkout, was told someone would check the operation which we did not see and service was never provided. Agent did call me to advise they could not get operating, but someone would be out after the weekend, did not happen and no followup. Great little pool and was serviced throughout the week which is definitely necessary if you have a large group with children as we did. You can walk or ride bike s easily to the beach. Shopping is not too far away so if you need something it is not a problem.

We were not aware of and hadn't experienced any issues with the elevator prior to your arrival. Once you notified us of the issues, we were unfortunately at the mercy of the repair company's schedule for them to come look at it and repair once our team wasn't able to find a simple fix. Great House for Families!

Reviewer Comments: Overall our stay was great, but we have a few comments for the owners: A lot of us got splinters from the wood railings on the deck, there were no basic cleaning products for wiping counters, only 2 dish towels, we found mold in washing machine, the queen bed (attached to the jack & jill bath)was very squeaky, blinds in 2nd floor master bath were not good, 3rd floor bathroom sink drain stopper was broken.& it would have been nice to have more that one real wine glass in the house.We had 8 adults & 6 kids under the age of 10. It was a great location for bike riding, exploring and everyone LOVED the heated pool! Beach towels are not provided, so we brought our own from home.
