Panhandle Getaways furnishes a few essential items for guests to utilize until they can get to the grocery store. Initial Supplies include: Dishwasher soap, small washing machine powder, each bathroom has amenities (like hotel but NOT restocked) shampoo, conditioner, soap bar. One roll of toilet paper in each bathroom & one paper towel roll in the kitchen. All bed linens and towels are provided. We encourage guests to bring beach towels for use at the pool and beach.

Beach Front-Very Convenient Location

very nice stay, great location on bottom floor - no need to use elevators. Near downtown destin and harbor walk. 2 very nice pools (crowded) and just seconds from the beach. Comfy beds but condo was a little dirty. Super loud noise every morning around 7 am right outside condo from garbage guys. Complaints from previous reviews have been fixed (hairdryers,etc). Well stocked kitchen, nice tv, and great view from balcony. would gladly stay again :)

Nice Condo !! Bad weather

The condo and location was awesome. Loved the beachfront view. We arrived Sunday afternoon and there was the Red Tide when we arrived. We were unable to be on the beach very long due to the respiratory issues . My Grandson has asthma and the said the Redtide was killing him . We only had 24 hrs there because Hurricane Michael came and we had to evacuate and left for home on Monday afternoon. So all of this was beyond anyone’s control but was so disappointing . I am hoping to get a refund and may try this again some year .

Good resort, but read this before booking

I would rate the resort a 5, the room a 3, and the mgmt company this is through - a 2. Destin is great! The room is on the 1st floor corner of the Pelican Beach Resort. 30 seconds walk to the beach, 10 seconds to the pool. I was nervous about safety, but the resort has a security guard at the entrance checking out each car and each guest had to wear a colored wristband at all times (or they would be escorted off the premises). However, right outside your front door is an outdoor stairwell and the garbage pickup area. This has a huge dumpster out front and a garage door that they open and shut. This is right outside the main bedroom window, so unless you have a fan to block out noise (like we did), I would not recommend it. The convenience of getting to the beach and the pool from this room is a huge plus. However, this doesn't have privacy on the back balcony because it's slightly above the pool area. From the back balcony you can see the beach area but the water is somewhat blocked from the sand bank. (Pool towels are also not provided, so bring some!) When we entered the room, it had a strong cleaning smell. Overall the room appeared clean, although we found a hair on the main bed (not changed?) and the bathroom cabinet has chipping wood. The bunk bed is in the wall of the main hallway when you walk in. There is a sofa bed that is really not comfortable. Customer service available via phone/chat. Now to the issues...Maintenance and checkout... We checked in late on a Saturday. Sunday morning we noticed the TV in the living room didn't work, the step trash can was broken, and there was a bulb burnt out. We chatted with Panhandle Getaways and they put in a work order (this was around 8:30am). All day, nothing fixed. Called Monday - CSR said they submitted the work order to the resort for them to fix it and should be done in the afternoon or day. Nothing all day. Called the resort directly that evening - no work order had been submitted!?! Texted CSR Monday night and Tuesday morning - they "reentered" work order saying it was urgent. We checked out Wednesday - nothing fixed. Checkout time is 10am (resort is 11am?!) and our door code to our room stopped working BEFORE 10!! If we didn't have someone still in the room, we would have been locked out while loading the car! My advice - book through Pelican Beach directly. We would have but they were booked up, the rooms are also less expensive, and the maintenance is through them anyway.

Needs a bed and dishwasher

The location of this unit was great. I question the cleanliness of the unit. When we first got in the unit the dishwasher was full of dirty dishes because the dishwasher was not working. I called and got the maintenance division for the rental and he told me he was putting in a work order. I believe someone came in when we were not there because they put the baskets in the dishwasher, but failed to fix it. It would have been nice to know someone was coming to the unit while we were out. We found socks in the bed of the top bunk. The worst part is the mattress in the master bed. One side of mattress is sunken down at least 7-8 inches. It is like someone scooped out all the bedding and it cups around you when you lay in that side. The side windows of the unit need replaced. When it rained, water poured in through the window. The unit needs updated and until that happens, I would not recommend this unit to anyone.

Came to Destin since accommodations in gulf shores had sustained damage from hurricane sally Good accommodations for price, great location The only downside was the horrible odor from trash collection area and on-site cafe not opening until 8 am

The condo was okay but needs to be cleaned better and def needs a washer and dryer.

Never stayed at a condo without a washer and dryer. It is a big inconvenience. The blow dryers in the bath rooms do not work and haven't for a long time.. couch is old and worn. It's a nice place with some upgrades would be great. It was nice to be close to the beach but you don't have a view of the beach. The sand bunker blocks your view. You just can't have it all. Like I said with some upgrades it would be fine. I do thank you very much

Beach view was great and because it was on the first floor it was very convenient.

The management was very responsive to our needs. Very clean and well laid out. The one bad thing was it needed a new sofa bed and arm chair.

little disappointed in few things, but beautiful place

The overall experience was good. The property is beautiful. I was disappointed in the fact that when we arrived at approximately 5p.m. that our room was not ready. When I called to inform them the person that answered wasn't thr friendliest. Also I wasn't informed that they dont bring extra towels...you have to wash your own...and the dumpster was right outside our window and they were there EVERY MORNING about 6:30-7:00 so no sleeping in. Other than the above mentioned the place was awesome. I am ready to go back to Destin.

Wonderful Condo!

We enjoyed staying in this condo and at Pelican Beach Resort very much. The condo was decorated lovely. It was also very neat and clean. Being on the first floor certainly has its perks!! Super easy access to the beach, pools and parking. The only two negatives are that the balcony doesn't have much of a view and we could hear the maintenance people emptying the huge trash bend, which is located right outside the master bedroom window, very early in the morning. Even with these two minor flaws I would certainly stay here again and recommend this unit to anyone looking for a beautiful stress free place to stay! We also loved having an access code to enter because we literally drove up, unloaded and were on the beach within an hour! It doesn't get better than that!

nice view, bedroom furnishings nice, linens clean, BUT extremely dirty condo.

Pelican Beach is a nice complex, but the unit we stayed in was very Dirty. Some of the furnishings were nice expecially the bedroom furniture. Had to clean the Kitchen before we could use it. range burners were in the sink cabinet so we had to look for them, shower heads and handles had mildew in them. Floors needed cleaning, swept and mopped. found dirty pots and pans with crusted food on them. all the cabinets were filthy. would not stay in this unit again. Will stay at Pelican Beach but not through VRBO. I called the Manager and left a message she never called back.
