Perfect family reunion house

Great spot for mostly adult family get together. The large bar and lounge make it perfect for everyone to all be in one space.

The kitchen was great for a big group and plenty of places to sit with the bar area being an added bonus. The bedrooms were very roomy and the beds comfortable. The downside was the parking, the listing says onsite parking, which is only for 2 cars and it's so narrow you can't get out of your car, which was very difficult for my disabled mother-in-law. None of the TV's worked, which was disappointing and there was no instructions for cooker, TV etc. Overall we did have a good stay and the location was great as it was right on the high street with everything you could possibly need so close.

We stayed here as a party of 12 friends to cleebrate with a weekend of Snooker, Darts and good times. The beer tap was amazing and meant we had cold beer all weekend. The property had loads of space great garden and communal areas to hang out. Big fan, would recommmend and cone again. P.s. Yvonne was incredibly helpful and responsive on email make the experience even smoother!

Stayed here for our wedding, large group of adults. Had the time of our lives, the decor is eclectic and full of personality. The perfect base for our group.

A weekend family birthday party

We were a family group with ages between 9 and 80, gathered to celebrate an 80th birthday.Located in the centre of Chipping Ongar High Street, the venue was perfect for our needs.It had 6 bedrooms, a large kitchen and a large dining room, but the focal point for weekend was the super ground floor pub bar, which had a snooker/pool table dart board, TV etc. Games for all!There was even a dumb waiter between the kitchen and the 1st floor dining room, convenient for the transfer of food and drinks.Everyone loved the place!

Perfect Wedding

We had a wedding at the Ongar Bell and it exceeded our expectations massively. We wanted a relaxed fun garden party vibe which is exactly what it delivered. The garden was absolutely stunning - think Chelsea flower show! And Keith and Yvonne are fab hosts - its like having your friends at the wedding. This place is a gem and whether your having a hen, wedding or any other get together you will not be disappointed!

Great for a family get together

Great place to stay for a family of grown siblings and there adult and teenage children. Living space huge, fully equipped kitchen, lovely quiet floral garden with plenty of seating and sun or shade. We stayed during a heatwave so were pleased for the shade. I stress our stay was during a serious heat wave, so we found the upstairs hot, more fans would have been great. Because it was so hot the windows needed to be open and the road noise was annoying in the morning rush hour for the 3 front bedrooms. The back ones were fine. Absolutely great hosts. Would definitely recommend

Fabulous property for a group gathering

We had a fabulous weekend at The Ongar Bell. Everyone was blown away by the garden and pub and it was ideal for our weekend. The garden is beautifully maintained and with a large BBQ is ideal for a large group party. The kitchen is very well stocked - I needn't have brought my own salt and pepper as their spice cupboard was more elaborate than any u have ever seen. Broken button on the dishwasher which needed a bit of foil rammed in to make it work but we managed. Would have appreciated more than 3 dishwasher tablets for a full weekend as with a full house we were running it a lot! The pub is obviously the major selling point and it didn't disappoint. Giant tv, sofas, pool table, darts board and a massive selection of glasswear, I loved playing landlady for the weekend. All the rooms are very comfy and spacious. Bathrooms are good. We had issues with the boiler breaking down so no hot water. Unfortunately with it being summer British Gas had no sense of urgency and the hosts were on holiday so unable to offer any support. This was the only downside to our stay but Yvonne was apologetic and has since offered compensation. Not really much she could have done, but not ideal with 12 sweaty adults home from a days activities! All in all, I would defiantly go back again and have suggested it to another group of friends!

Large group venue

Large spacious property with plenty of room for number of guests. Lovely garden. Bedrooms on front quite noisy but on road which is quite busy and secondary glazing helped but made rooms hot and stuffy in summer. Provided what was required. It was heavily decorated which maybe made some cleaning difficult and also the size of place.

An Amazing 30th Birthday weekend of celebrations

We stayed with family & friends for our daughters 30th bday suprise celebration she absolutely loved our choice of property as did we, plus our family & freinds were blown away with the accommodation & they loved being able to play pool & darts. Having your own pub puts such a unique twist on the stay, we had a mixologist visit on the Friday night for cocktail making & we threw her a small party on the Saturday night. Yvonne & Keith were so welcoming & friendly we will definately return again & hopefully look to rent out the hot tub as well. 😁

Amazing property

We all had a fantastic weekend at this amazing unique place, everything you need and more. We celebrated my sons 30th birthday with family aged 16-84 and everyone loved it. I would definitely recommend it. Yvonne is lovely and friendly.

Beautiful property

This property is a wonderful place to stay and is decorated beautifully. The garden is also very beautiful. The pub is perfect to set up parties in or just to hang out watching TV. The advert did post a photo of the hot tub which should be taken down as this isn’t available with the property. We had a fabulous stay and wouldn’t hesitate to book again in the future.

Amazing Stay

Stayed at this property for a family break to celebrate a 40th Birthday. This property is unique, beautiful rooms, the garden is amazing, would definitely recommend this property

We had a great time, plenty of space, garden was perfect for post wedding rehearsal get together, and for the ushers brunch on the Saturday. Thank you Yvonne for giving us somewhere to accommodate our family and friends - wedding was perfect and the rain mostly held off! A very happy weekend!

Amazing House

We have been hiring houses for weekends away for the last 19 years. This is probably one of the best houses we have rented. The pub is amazing and is a great place to hang out, the kitchen has everything you need and the bedrooms are perfect. Truly an amazing place to hire out. We will defo be going back!

Amazing Experience

Our property is beautifully decorated and furnished with charming antiques offering a large social space for you and your guests to enjoy. The property also has a large 3 tired garden that is well kept and maintained and is a wonderful aspect of the property. At the bottom of the garden there is a private area with a 10 person hot tub, changing room, shower and toilets. This area is lit up by fairy lights at night creating a magical experience under the stars. To enjoy this part of the garden and hot tub, please enquire about our bespoke pamper and afternoon tea packages available for private hire at an additional charge.

Ongar is ideally situated in the heart of the countryside but a short car journey to Epping station brings you to the start of the Central Line convenient for shopping trips or taking in a show or just enjoying our capital city. Being on the High Street we are blessed by several great restaurants, takeaways and a supermarket on our doorstep as well as walks to Greensted Church locally. This does unfortunately mean that some of the bedrooms can be a tad noisy from the high street cars, so bring your earplugs if you're a light sleeper (or have an extra beer!)
