You Must be 25 Years of Age or Older to Rent.
Ocean View is a lovely, 2-story home located on the 3rd row in the Ocean Shores subdivision. Don't forget your furry best friend because Oceanview is a pet-friendly beach house with a $200 Non-refundable fee. This home is beautifully decorated with stylish coastal decor, comfortable furnishings, and has lots of natural light. This home features an open concept living, dining, and kitchen area that is great for entertaining or relaxing. Staying connected with your family and friends is easy. You will enter the WIFI password and login information provided in a picture frame in the living room. The bunk room on the main level has 2 twin/full bunk beds. A full bathroom on the main level has a shower/tub combo for convenience. The living room sofa accommodates 2 guests for sleeping. The 3 upstairs bedrooms have access to the upper deck with breathtaking views of the Gulf. two of the bedrooms each have a queen bed. The primary bedroom has an attached bathroom with a shower/tub combo. An additional bathroom on the upper level also has a shower/tub combo. This home will be a family favorite with a great layout and plenty of room to move around.
Even when provided, internet access, TV/cell service can be unreliable on the Bolivar Peninsula. We are a rural community. We apologize, but Bolivar Escapes cannot guarantee that these amenities will be working during your stay. We cannot offer refunds for the disruption of these services. This home might have an outdoor camera(s) to monitor the exterior. Any attempt to disable, redirect, or obscure the camera(s) is prohibited and may result in the guest being evicted without refund of outstanding nights’ rent. If a home has a lift or elevator, it is not for the renter's use unless otherwise stated in comments or with permission from Bolivar Escapes. We provide linens and bath towels in every house, and standard beds are made for your arrival. Linens will be provided in the home for all sleeper sofas, trundles, and pull-out bedding. Paper products, other than toilet tissue and paper towels, and cleaning supplies are not included.
We provide a starter pack consisting of the items below. Please bring anything else you will need:
1 roll of paper towels
3 white kitchen trash bags
2 dishwasher tabs (if applicable)
2 laundry tabs (if applicable)
1 small bottle of dish liquid soap
1 dish sponge
2 rolls of toilet tissue per bathroom
Small bar of hand soap per bathroom
1 trial size of shampoo/conditioner per full bath
1 beauty bar per bath
Small salt and pepper
Small cooking oil
There will also be a bath towel set for each guest
Do not forget the beach towels, bug spray, and sunscreen! Once you're booked, log in to your guest guide for instructions on your home, beach rentals, and things to do on the Peninsula.
All our homes are located at Crystal Beach/Port Bolivar/Gilchrist. Not Galveston.

Fridge on the fritz roaches and loss of power

If you enjoy staying in beautiful houses that are not clean, this house is for you. When we arrived, we were so happy with the home's beauty, but that was short-lived. After a few hours, we noticed the fridge was not working but was told that the last tenants didn’t complain about it, so they will try to get someone over there tomorrow and we needed to put all food in coolers. Thankfully it’s started working, but we lost some food in the process. Later that night, we found NINE cockroaches in the kitchen and bathroom. When we called about the roaches, they said, “the owners were just there, and they didn’t see any” later, a voice mail was left on my phone stating, “everyone has roaches in the grass” I called about roaches in the KITCHEN NOT GRASS. We had rented from several places before and never had issues with roaches. It wasn’t until later we figured out why we had so many roaches. We pulled out SEVERAL plates with CAKED ON FOOD. Several cups had dried coffee or tea in them. They gave us bug spray for the house, but it never worked. We had to leave lights on in closets and the kitchen to keep them away. The last night of our stay, the power was off from 12:45 am-8:30 am when we left. I know it’s not their fault that the power went out, but they acted like we were inconsiderate to want a clean home each time we called. When we called about the A/C and power, they wanted us to update them when the power came back on and expected us to call them with updates. We had two one-year-olds on this trip, and because of the dirty house, I spent several hours cleaning the house myself. The lack of compassion from the staff just added the cheery on top. I am thankful good sports surrounded me. I will never rent from this company. I will tell anyone who is thinking about renting to make sure to go anywhere else. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO EXCITED TO GET HOME.

Terrible experience

Ants bad in bedroom and kitchen, toilet ran continuously, refrigerator wouldn’t get cold , dryer wouldn’t dry clothes , railing on deck loose, had toilet paper in one bathroom . On top of that there was electric outage that was scheduled for 12 hours that lasted 22 hours so all the food in Luke warm refrigerator ruined and it was 92 degrees outside during the day

Everything I hoped it would be! My family and I had the best time at the Oceanview property.

Absolutely thrilled with everything. The check in/check out was simple and easy. The house was clean and well taken care of. The ocean view from the balcony during a thunderstorm was breath taking. This was one vacation my family will remember! You can bet our experience will be posted all over social media. Thank you Bolivar Escapes for taken care of us.

Great stay!

A very enjoyable trip. Place was perfect! The only problem we experienced was an outlet not working downstairs when trying to charge our golf cart. When we called it in, a repair man was there within an hour. We definitely will use this VRBO again.

Stay at oceanview

We had a wonderful stay at oceanview. The house was nice with plenty of room. It has wonderful views of the ocean. It was close to the beach and we had a very relaxing time. I would love to visit this house again in the future!

Perfect location

Beach was within a short walking distance and very little traffic. We had a few issues with the house, toilet wouldn't flush and shower handle broke off, but they both quickly got resolved. House was exactly as presented, unfortunately the kids in our group can not understand why there is no Wi-Fi but we knew going into it that was the case. Actually saw them interact with each other instead of phones.

We love the stay at the ocean view home an it was a very short walk to the beach, it was close to the fairy so when our family wanted to go to the Galveston side it was a quick. The house was perfect in space, we lived that you could side out on the balcony an look at the ocean an listen to the waves. Quite place. We highly recommend the Ocean View home

Wonderful home for getting away from it all

We rented this property for a long weekend (Wednesday through Sunday) in the Galveston area. The day of check-in, Remax called me to check my status and were very communicative to ensure that I was able to pick up the key. The home is in a quiet neighborhood, a close walk to the beach. The house was very clean, and very comfortable for 9 of us (5 adults, 4 children). There were a few items that could use fixing, and when I spoke with ReMax about it, they were open to the feedback and working on some of the fixes already. We did not pay the fee for linens, we brought our own from home and it was fine. The kitchen had all the pots and pans that we needed when we wanted to cook meals. We did bring a crockpot to use on the days that we wanted to have a meal ready when we returned to the house. We brought paper products to use (plates, bowls, utensils) but the house also has reusable items already there for use if you want. The bathrooms were clean and every bathroom had a tub, which was great for the kids. The bedrooms were also decently sized, and while they did not all have dressers, every room had a spacious closet with ample shelving. All 3 of the upstairs bedrooms also had a door to the upstairs balcony. The house is about 6 miles from the ferry that takes you to Galveston. We rode the ferry every day, and while the ride did get longer as we approached the weekend, it was always pleasant to relax on the boat while we were ferried over to Galveston. The house felt like an escape from the hurry of life. It doesn’t have wifi, which may be a negative to some, but for us, it felt a bit freeing, as we ended up being somewhat out of pocket, as we had to depend on cell phone service. We enjoyed being able to unplug for a few days. We had a wonderful time and would be happy to rent this same home again.

Beware of misleading overview

PROS Short walk to beach Quiet neighborhood as promised Local store less than 5 min away (has everything) Local restaurants 10 min ride to ferry ride to Galveston in 15 mins Proom for everyone Fully stocked kitchen CONS This is a 4BR home with 2 televisions. Cable ONLY in living room. Light to stairs were out upon arrival Dec 31st. Called immediately to make Remaxx aware. Were told maintenance wouldn’t be able to come out until next day. They never came. The stairs are very dark at night so we left the hall light on which meant closed bedroom doors due to bright hall light to 3 upstairs bedrooms. The bedrooms ONLY have beds in them. I’ve rented several vacation homes in the past and this was a bit strange for me. I’d become accustomed to making myself at home. Just an old dresser in the Master and wicker table on one side of each bed. My suitcase was a nightstand My 3 teenagers stayed in the bunk room dressing out of suitcases everyday. The closet had shelves full of “someone’s” belongings, framed pictures, a lamp, and a huge box of filters. It rained 85% of our stay so the Direct TV service we were able to enjoy on the 1 TV never worked. We used our Hotspot for movies on our mobile devices mostly. Many may think that TV and WiFi aren’t a big deal but if it’s less than 50 degrees outside and raining nonstop you kinda run out of things to do. No board games or other entertainment. No Linens as stated in the details so bring all towels, sheets, and pillow cases unless you want to pay extra Bathroom doors push open with minimal force when locked or not All furniture/carpet require a good steaming. If it wasn't dirty, it needed replacing. There were huge noticeable staines on the sofas, pillows, and comforters throughout. The ottoman in the living room and two of the upstairs beds looked like a sumo wrestler sat on them. It smelled stale throughout the home. I bought disinfectant and candles The kitchen was well furnished but ALL of the pans were rusty or just didn’t look like anything you wanted your food to touch. We put foil over everything metal. We bought a sponge to use in the kitchen and paper towels to dry dishes because I guess kitchen towels are “linens” as well. Also the dishwasher isn’t mounted well because once full racks are fully extended it falls out of the space where it’s supposed to be housed. Outdoor garbage cans need replacing and a cover for them to prevent the local wildlife from rummaging through it.
