SARGASSO Update:
The Caribbean Sea has been experiencing higher volumes of Sargasso sea grass in recent years. This sea grass can wash up and pile on the beach and create an unpleasant smell as it decays. It is most prevalent on the North and East side of the island. In large amounts it prevents enjoyable use of our beach.
The west end of the island has beautiful beaches that are almost always sea grass free.
The Sargasso grass is most prevalent during the hotter months of late July - September.
This condition is unpredictable on a week to week basis and something that is totally out of our control. As a result, unfortunately our current policy must be that we cannot issue refunds as a result of Sargasso.

I liked that Earl checked to see if we arrived safely. Just a few things needed to be fixed. The living room furniture was really comfortable.

I would definitely stay here again. Being steps away from the ocean was so relaxing, and we had a screened in porch in the back to enjoy the sound. The beach wasn't white sand, but it was very acceptable and chairs were available. We had fun chilling, walking around, and catching tiny shell crabs. The condo complex grounds, parking lot, and the pool were very clean. Very quiet. Window a/c units in each room. However, if you are the type to want a perfect room, you may be unhappy. I'm sure every condo in the complex is different, but ours had some signs of needing refurbishing (grout, tile, bathroom fixtures,etc). But I will emphasize that I would stay here again since everything else met our needs. Note: you will need a car for this location. It is not walkable to anything.

This property is at the end a stretch of sandy beach with shallow water protected by a break about 500 ft. out. The staff was friendly and kept the property maintained. We did not have a view of the ocean from our unit, but it was a short walk to the beach.

A Nice Place to Stay

Overall, this was a nice place to stay. Lots of free parking (and not micro-spaces), a pretty good location, decent fixtures in the unit. Yes, there were a few mosquitos in the unit (no more or less than you will likely find in other rental units on St. Croix), but I left an electric flyswatter/zapper in the unit when I left, so future renters can take care of that!

Gratitude

Property needs updating in both bathrooms and kitchen, bathroom faucets are sad. Light on tableware and silverware. New furniture is great, very comfortable. Maybe a one step for the master bed. Quite a leap for old short people. W-40 for the sliders.

St Croix trip

The property was great! All the needed amenities, and some extras were available. Beds are very comfortable and the entire property was clean and easy to access. Everything in the condo exceeded our expectations. Seaweed invasion on that side of the island is not ideal but not able to be controlled and certainly didnā€™t stop us from enjoying the island. Dive trip

We stayed here for a dive trip - it was pretty much centrally located to all dives so that was nice - a 15 minute drive to each spot. We rented a car which is 100% necessary for staying at this property as it is not a walkable locationā€” you will have to drive to grocery, restaurants and bars ā€”but we knew that when booking. No big deal for us. 1 minute drive to the grocery store and downtown less than ten minute drive with shops and so much good food! WiFi worked great and I was even able to do some work while there. There was a ton of seaweed at the beach at the property while there, so not able to swim there at all - but of course that isnā€™t the property owners fault. A quiet location and I slept like a rock with the ice cold AC. There was some snorkeling gear and plenty of extra beach towels.

Dated, but doable

The check in prices was great and the manager was responsive and timely to all emails. The condo was a good size. but dated. It was clean enough and stocked with beginning supplies. The kitchen leaves a lot to be desired. We were the for 2 weeks and the kitchen wares were lacking. The pots & pans.... very few and the skillet needed to go in trash. There was no plastic container/ dishware to take to the pool or beach. The master slider didn't open, nor did most of the windows in the unit. The slider screens in the living room were useless since they were torn off the slider frame. We made do, but the unit could use some love and the kitchen goven thought. It was quite apparent to me this owner does not spend any time in this condo. it is only an income unit with little investment. For the price i expected a little more. We made do, but it was not a unit to brag about.

First experience in Saint Croix!

This was the first time visiting. The property was so clean and well maintained. I loved the condo and it was literally right on the beach, with a pool. It was in the center of every place we wanted to visit. The employees were so nice and helpful as well as the residents. I loved Colony Cove and hope they will have me back, I enjoyed myself so much I am coming back with my family. I can't stop thinking about how much fun we had. Thank you for such a wonderful, place that felt like home.ā¤

Great location, great host

We loved our stay! We had a group of 8 people spread between 3 condos. The pool was a nice hang spot for our lazy days. The snorkeling at the beach behind the condo was one of the best spots on the island! The tire reef had lots of fish- and I saw a sea turtle when I swam a bit further out! Two tasty restaurants located in walking distance- we loved them both so much we went to each multiple times. Earl was a great host- he addressed a wifi issue promptly and effectively, and gave us lots of great tips for the island. Canā€™t wait to come back!

Beautiful and much needed

The condo was great, it had a great location (<10 to Christianstead) plenty of space and was very clean. There were towels to use as well as beach/pool toys and snorkel gear. The beds were comfortable, as was all the seating. Earl was so helpful when we couldnā€™t get the Wi-Fi to work (user error) and even stopped by during our stay to make sure everything was working well! We will definitely be back!

Colony Cove 2021

Beautifully island, lots of places to explore, many remote beaches, plenty of restaurants, beach bars, overall fun experience, have been to Saint Croix 6 times now, love the island. Unfortunately the sargassum seagrass was plentiful on the beach, creating a rotten egg smell, not able to enjoy the beach or pool, but traveled to many other beaches & there was none. A bartender told me about life on island: ā€œgo to store for Raisin Bran & leave with Cheerios ā€œ Itā€™s not for everyone but the island has a great charm about it, but realize island time is a real thing. Still love Saint Croix, still had a positive experience, will be back.

The colony cove was beautiful until we were robbed at gunpoint inside the colony cove at the pool.

My vacation crew were robbed inside the pool at gun point at colony cove a guy hopped the pool gate and robbed us at gunpoint and took whatā€™s really we had. Police didnā€™t do anything as if this type of thing is normal plus we found out the colony cove is located next to a housing projects.

Spacious & Comfortable. Great location for the price.

We liked the convenient location to downtown Christiansted. The 2bdr, 2 bath unit was spacious with a large patio. The sofas were comfortable for relaxing after a busy day. The property Manager, Earl, was very responsive & helpful. He was knowledgeable about the area. There was seaweed on the beach during our stay. It did have a bad smell and you really could not use the beach. This impacted several beaches in the area. This is beyond anyone's control. We were able to go to other beaches and see more of the island. We had a great stay.

Nice condo, washer and dryer was nice. Home is needing much upgrading

The stay was pleasant as we had daily Excursions planned, the master bedroom ac had to be fixed and dint get replaced till our 5th day. Somewhat disappointing since me and my husband had to sleep on the couch and he in a chair. There was alot of brown surfside stargassum, which had rotted so the smell was unbearable outside and coming thru the ac in living room. The plug in scattered thru the home weren't enough. Note to any other renters, go to opposite side of island during June and July. We had a good experience and would rent again, yet not in those months. Much upgrading is needed with pot and pans, utensils, towel hangers.
