The Stinson Cottages are family owned cottages located on Horseshoe Lake just south of Arden, Ontario. These summer dwellings are the perfect get away for families and friends from Toronto, Ottawa and Kingston.
Situated on Horseshoe lake, part of the Salmon River system, the cottages are ideal for swimming, fishing, water sports, nearby hiking, outdoor games and just relaxing. Come and experience the beauty and enjoyment that cottage life brings.

We can accommodate extra guests over 6 & up to 8. It will be at the discretion of the owner. There is a fee of $25/night/guest over 6.
Leave the cottage better then you found it. Wash, dry & put away all dishes, wipe counters, table top & stove top, sweep floors & vacuum carpets.
Upon departure remove sheets & put on the shower floor along with used towels, facecloths & kitchen linen. Bathrooms should be left clean.

Cottage Comfort

This property was well equipped and comfortable. The owners Brenda and Bob and their dog Harry met us upon arrival and explained a few things about the boat motor that we'd rented etc. The beach while a about 500' from the cottage but still within the cottage area (no roads or other properties to cross), was truly sandy and good for swimming. The deck was well kept and very pleasant and great for playing cards, eating and talking. The cottage actually seemed a little bigger than it looked in the pictures. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Fantastic Family Vacation

We had the pleasure of staying at the Beach Bum cottage. As soon as we walked in, we instantly fell in love with the character, cleanliness and how everything was neat and well organized. Our kids loved it and having close access to the beach made our stay easy and relaxing. Bob and Brenda and their dog Harry were very welcoming and made our stay very enjoyable. Wonderful people. We can’t wait to go back next summer.

Perfect if you're looking for a rustic cottage experience!

The owners are always available and very easy to deal with. The place is quiet, beautiful and has numerous options for fun in and out of the water. No luxury in the cabins - shower is particularly small - but beds are comfortable, they're well equipped and everything works. Keep in mind you will likely have to share the beach, games and equipment with the family on the other cabin they rent in the same property. That being said, we had an overall excellent stay, and both humans and dogs enjoyed a very relaxing and fun week there!

Perfect child friendly cottage

We had a fantastic time and the kids loved the large grassy yard, playground and beach. The Stinson family are amazing hosts and they ensured our stay was exceptional.

Best two week vacation

We loved staying with Brenda and Bob for two weeks. Our two year old son had a great time playing on the beach, trampoline and with the other toys at the property. We really enjoyed spending time with the other families staying at the property. The sunsets were amazing from the deck of the cliffpoint cottage. We enjoyed eating dinner on the deck. The cottage was very clean and everything was in good working order and had everything you could need. We hope to visit again soon!

Great hosts!

Cottage “beach bum” is rustic but has everything you require. Lighting could be a bit better. The property is wonderful but you’re at least 20 minutes by car from any grocery stores or gas stations. It’s also a busy location with visiting guests at the other cottage - at least during our stay. The hosts are wonderful people and very accommodating and welcoming. We had a 17 week old Portuguese Water Dog with us and they were not concerned about him roaming the property freely off leash and “intruding “ on them while they were dining outside or entertaining. All in all, we had a great time! The beach is super for young and old.

The best cottage ever

We have stayed at the cottage on the Cliff from July 14 to July 21, 2019. We are not looking for cottages anymore, because we fell in love with this one. The owners Brenda and Bob are the most welcoming people we met in the long time. They made our vacation very pleasant and memorable. Nothing can be named that was missing at the cottage. The week passed by like one day and we can’t wait to go back! We strongly recommend this magical place to folks who love nature but comfort is still important for them as well. Thank you Brenda, Bob and the whole family for your hospitality! See you soon. Olga & Co

Perfect location for family of 4-6.

Couldn’t ask for a better setting and location for a family with children. The kids had a blast on the beach area which was well stocked with toys and water crafts. The cottage was a decent size and well stocked. The large deck was perfect for BBQ’s and sunset watching. Owners couldn’t be nicer. We look forward to coming back.

Great week at the Beach Bum cottage!

Spent a great week at the end of August at the Beach Bum cottage. Cottage is fully equipped with everything you may need and sparkling clean. The lake is great for swimming and was warm and clean enough for our toddler to really enjoy herself. Lots of fish and frogs to keep her well occupied but still had a playground to play on when the frogs got boring. There is a beautiful view of the water from your private Adirondack chairs or from the shared beach. Enjoyed the evenings by the fire roasting marshmallows. Bob and Brenda provided a very welcoming cottage experience.

Great Family Time at the Cottage

We have just returned from a week at Stinson's Beach Bum cottage. We couldn't have asked for better [ well maybe a few more fish]. With Brenda's attention to detail and Bob and Brenda's friendly personality we felt like we belonged from the first meeting. Very friendly neighbours as well. With a large family - kids from 2 - 15, this was the perfect spot. They offered a beach [so close to the cottage], playground,floating raft, fishing boat rental - and that was just outside. There wasn't anything missing from this cottage - Well stocked kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 2 fridges. What more could you really want. Our daughter summed it up be saying "this isn't a cottage - it's a lake house". She is truly right. We highly recommend you give this place a try. You won't be sorry. Thanks, Bob and Brenda for a wonderful week. .........The 'G' family

The Stinson family has lived in the area for over 150 years. The Stinson family farm is located in Tamworth just 20 minutes south of the cottages. The property was purchased in 2001 from Larry Denny who had purchased the property from the original owners. He had used as rental properties but was getting tired of the maintenance. When the Stinson's purchased for their family to use as a gathering place for the ever growing family. The Stinson's still enjoy the cottage throughout the summer but found that it was not getting used all summer so decided to rent out.

It is a beautiful cottage on a quiet lake that is one of my favorite places on earth. The air is clear the water is warm. You fall asleep to the sound of bullfrogs and crickets while watching the fireflies. It's a pretty special place that we enjoy immensely and think you will too.
