San Giacomo dell’Orio, one of Venice’s most ancient and charming piazzas, is just around the corner, featuring a magnificent ancient church and a vast bustling square in typical Venetian style.
By taking a pleasant stroll into the Rialto district, you’ll have the opportunity to discover the wonders of the old Fish Market and the “colourful” fruit market. Along the way, you can take advantage of any one of the various “Osterie” (Taverns), where you can sample the traditional “ombra e il cicheto” a glass of wine accompanied by a delicious appetizer or even enjoy a “spritz”, the typical Venetian aperitif.
After crossing the Rialto Bridge, with its quaint little shops, you’ll enter the Haberdashers district where you can enjoy some leisurely shopping. Then, as if by magic, you’ll happen upon one of Europe’s most breathtaking attractions: Piazza San Marco, dominated by its splendid basilica and magnificent bell tower, which are guaranteed to impress any visitor to the city.
For “lazier” guests, the water taxis parked along the Grand Canal offer the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing “cruise” down the world’s most renowned waterway, all the way to the San Marco district, right in front of Doge’s Palace and Piazza San Marco itself.
