Nice home but beware of current residents
This home is beautiful, has appropriate space for large groups, the kitchen is well stocked with all types of cooking gear, and the bedrooms we used were comfortable. The bathrooms were spacious and the walk in shower served its purpose well.
I spoke with customer service on a couple of occasions and they were both friendly and helpful.
The issues that we experienced were mostly minor things. The total checkout experience did not happen through VBRO. Once we made the first payment, we were directed through Surf or Sound's website to complete the transaction.We could not hook up the tv's to internet. The stand up game featured in the pictures of this home did not work. Linens were included with our rental, however, we were not told until we arrived that the bedspreads would not be on the bed due to covid19. The verbiage on the welcome pamphlet stated that they were not washed on a regular basis. The railings on the staircases are loose, the theater room door was broken, and the sliding glass doors were hard to open and close. Two of the 3 icemakers didn't work. Their is also lewd graffiti marked on the walls in between the floors of the elevator. These were the minor problems.
The major issues we had to deal with were the wheelchair ramps up to the house. They are not ADA compliant. The ramp is too steep. The home was not very clean either. Bits of food were found in the sofas of the theater room and the dining room. The bathroom tiles could have used a better scrub down as well. We also had guests that we did not invite to our vacation. The ants were all over the counters and roaches were prevalent during our stay. We did call Surf or Sound to address the specific roach issue and they said that they would send someone over to take care of the problem. Since we were out and about during the day, I am not sure if someone came to spray or not. We ended up buying a can of Raid to help with the situation at hand.
We did have a good time at the Outer Banks and I would love to go back. If I were to rent from this company again, I would like to see some general repairs done, better cleaning, and eviction of the current residents at the home.
