Welcome!
In the quaint fishing village of Jonesport America, there lies one of the only white sandy beaches in Downeast Maine, Sandy River Beach.

From the Maine Rose cottage, you can witness the most beautiful sunrises on one of the most eastern points of the United States; you can listen to the seagullā€™s cry and the squeal of laughter on the beach. You can also enjoy the late afternoon summer sun as you enjoy your cocktail while your toes are in the sand and you can fall asleep in the evening listening to the surf and feeling the rhythm of its heart.

The Maine Rose Cottage is a 2 bedroom, 3/4 bath oceanfront escape either for a romantic get-away or a quiet family seeking the convenience of being on a private and rare white sandy beach. Bring your kayaks and hiking boots for your outdoor adventures in nature. This is NOT a party house, but rather a quaint cottage with quaint expectations.

Amenities include gas stove/oven and heat, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and fans. The master bedroom has a California King bed. The second bedroom has a queen size bed. There is also an inflatable twin mattress. Wi-fi.

Best of all, there are rocking chairs to read in as you watch the waves and the birds. There is an outdoor little deck with an Adirondack chair for your morning coffee. Outdoor grill and lobster/clam pot. Picnic table.

Available June through September.

The beach is fabulous. Found so much sea glass. Walking to the island at low tide, amazing. The rose cottage was exactly as described. The views, so peaceful and relaxing. We stayed at the sweet pea cottage last month, it was so good. We booked the two bedroom rose cottage to bring our son and granddaughter. again, didn't want to leave. You will not regret renting this piece of heaven on earth.

We stayed at the Maine Rose to end our multi-week road trip though New England and Canada. It was so nice to sit on beach each day and watch the tide come and go. We found lots of colorful sea glass and enjoyed examining all the different rock patterns. We had several sunny days and several times that fog that rolled in and made us feel like true Mainers on the beach. Our kids loved playing in the sand and racing the waves. We had such a good time at the house, we stayed there all day each of the four days we booked - we ended up skipping planned day trips to Acadia and other beaches because it was so relaxing at Maine Rose. Also, the blankets and sheets on the king bed are super soft and comfy. The house had all we needed - plenty of towels and kitchen equipment. And we drank hot tea and hot cocoa by the sliding door morning and night. Truly - a fabulous house and location!

It was absolutely stunning. We had perfect weather. There were places to explore right on the beach and all over town. We loved every second of it. Waking up to the ocean every morning was so relaxing. 10/10 would recommend.

Serene Beach Retreat

This was our third year at The Maine Rose, and it never disappoints! The cottage is cozy and perfectly appointed. But the beach is the star. A beautiful crescent of white sand , with a massive tide, keeping the shore ever changing. The recent addition of sliders to a sweet little deck with an amazing view makes the rental even more appealing, allowing you to open the sliders and listen to the waves and birds through the screen. A truly magical and restorative escape!

An Excellent Time Away From Home

Being just steps away from a secluded ocean beach made this two-bedroom cottage a fantastic getaway. The cottage was cosy and very clean, the beds comfy, and the ocean view of the beach and several islands from the windows was simply amazing! This was our third stay in this cottage and we'd go again in a heartbeat. Staying at a cottage on an ocean beach was a "bucket list" item for us and we really enjoyed our stay.

Perfect, quiet location with a white sand beach right out front. We enjoyed a fire on the beach one night. We had everything we needed in the kitchen. Lots of bath towels. The host was very friendly and accommodating.

My Happy Place

The location is amazing and the Maine Rose provides the perfect nest to enjoy it. We have been coming to Sandy River beach for years and have rented several different cottages, but this is now definitely our favorite. It is comfortable, quaintly furnished and decorated, and I have never stayed in a better equipped place. Dawn and mark were a joy to deal with. to deal with.better equipped

There is no place I'd rather be on vacation. The Maine Rose is lovely - clean and beautifully decorated with incredible view. The location is relaxing. Listening to the waves as I go to sleep and wake up each morning is heaven. Dawn and Mark are so kind and wonderful to work with. I can't imagine any vacation experience being any better than this.

Another wonderful visit

Mark and Dawne are amazing hosts who truly think of everything. The location is perfect for couples and those with small children. Lots of room to run out their sillies on the beach, what feels like miles of low tide to explore. This was our 6th stay - weā€™ll absolutely be back. Thank you for another great visit!

Lovely cottage by the sea

Staying here was everything we had hoped for. We were 4 adults (seniors) and couldnā€™t have been more comfortable! The views were stunning, toes in the sand on beach 10 seconds from the deck! We absolutely will come again!

Beautiful Location

Lovely cottage, everything you need is there. We bought lobsters directly from the wharf, pizza was a quick drive, grocery store close by! And the BEACH is awesome! The owners have done a fantastic job keeping these cabins looking good.

Mark and Dawn Bechtold are recently retired and hail from the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Mark is an organizational psychologist and singer/songwriter. Dawn is an art educator/artist.
We are recently retired and have lived and worked abroad. We enjoy a quiet life with our interests in outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, gardening and farming. We enjoy our time on the beach with friends and good food.

Por que o anfitriĆ£o escolheu essa propriedade

This property is very special to our family. We are third generation owners of three eclectic cottages we have named The Maine Rose (for the larger main cottage), The Sweet Pea (middle cottage) and the third (little) cottage where we stay. The cottages were originally built around 1930 and were beautifully renovated in the 1960's. The Maine Rose was then gently used by family from RI for almost 50 years. My husband and I acted as care-takers of the property for a bit before we were able to purchase in 2011. The structures have maintained their integrity over the years as we continue to give them the love and care they deserve.
The cottages are in a quiet natural beach front setting, they are clean and comfortable and are the perfect escape for a restful, sun filled vacation.

The Maine Rose and Sweet Pea each boast a cathedral ceiling, letting in air and light. The cottages have more 'space and flow' because of the higher ceilings. We provide bedding, including sheets for each bed and limited kitchen/bath linens. Just pack your bags and hit the road!
