This was a perfect house for our family of four (2 @ 50 somethings and 2@ late teen 20 somethings ) to spend a week at Christmas. The house is an adventure to reach and feels VERY remote, but it is actually a fairly quick drive (15 mins) to Samara - you will want a 4WD vehicle for the river ford. The house is surrounded by wild space and wild critters and you feel immersed in nature. There were howler monkeys in the trees, a huge frog that would visit the pool every night, a coati occasionally on the lawn, and numerous birds and bugs. You can hear cows in the pasture below, but no traffic. The house sits high on a hill and gets a nice breeze at night. The temperature was perfect. This is not a typical luxury accommodation - the inside space is very basic ( two bedrooms, two baths, and a kitchen/ dining area that is pretty dimly lit, has no comfy seating and has minimal but adequate equipment) but this does not matter as the large covered exterior veranda is amazing. We spent ALL of our awake time outside and loved it. The beds are VERY comfortable. Wifi was fast. The pool is spectacular - but we were a little sorry that the pool lights were broken. We highly recommend the two table El Coyote restaurant just a mile or so from the house. We spent considerable time in Nosara (better surfing than Samara) and were thankful this house is relatively close (25 mins). Overall a funky wonderful place with great vibe and responsive management - highly recommended.
