Faxo's Retreat is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home located just one block from the Gulf of Mexico, overlooking Little Lagoon and less than a mile west of Hwy. 59. This charming home features a private pool (not heated) and a kiddie pool with scenic lagoon views.

PET FRIENDLY: Two dogs 35 lbs or less are allowed. A $150 per dog, non-refundable pet fee applies.

Property Features:

ā€¢ Relax with your morning coffee or enjoy the sunset on the large lagoon-side balcony. There is also a covered patio underneath the home.

ā€¢ The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need in your home away from home. The dining area seats six and there are four barstools for additional seating.

ā€¢ The living area has a sofa sleeper.

ā€¢ Primary bedroom has a king-size bed with balcony access.

ā€¢ First guest room has a king-size bed with balcony access.

ā€¢ Second guest room features two sets of twin-size bunk beds. (*Children six years or younger should not be permitted on the top bunk.)

ā€¢ Bonus room features two twin-size day beds, balcony access, and beautiful views of Little Lagoon.

ā€¢ Enjoy convenient keyless entryā€”no waiting in long lines for check-in or check-out.

ā€¢ Guests are responsible for providing propane for the BBQ grill.

$400 FREE Activities Daily-Guests will receive one complimentary admission to our select activities per day. You can go to every one of these activities every day, and one person will be free per day. Additional guests will pay full price. Admissions are non-cumulative and non-transferable. Unused admissions expire daily.

So yes, you may choose to go fishing in the morning (one person is free), then golf at lunch (one person is free), and then go to the zoo that afternoon (one person is free). Or you may choose to go to the zoo in the morning with the kids (one person is free), and your husband can play golf (one person is free) and then meet that afternoon to go on the dolphin cruise (one person is free.) You may do some or all of these select activities every day, and one of your parties is free every day.

These activities are yours to use if you choose to do so at no additional cost or obligation.

The property is in a convenient location; within a short distance to the beach, shopping and restaurants. Fantastic sunset views from the pier! The property could use some TLC at some point and it takes quite some time for the water to turn hot. Regardless, we had a nice time here!

2nd time staying and still one of the best places I have stayed in Gulf Shores. Private and great location for walking to the beach or hanging out by the dock. You donā€™t even have to drive anywhere. There is a store at the end of the neighborhood that has everything. We will stay again.

The property was perfect for our family. The house does need a few minor repairs, blinds, carpet, and maybe power washing the exterior. The only issue we had was the AC unit didnt cool very well. The bunkbed room stayed warm no matter the temp set on the AC.

Fishing from dock

My family had a great time fishing from the dock-caught lots of fish & 2 sting rays! The place was roomy & comfortable. Wish the heat on the pool was working, since the pool water can be cold in springtime. We also did the Dolphin Sunset Cruise with Cetacean Cruises through the discounted activities offered. It was great! We saw dolphins throughout the cruise, so many we couldnā€™t keep up with the count! And we saw an eagle!

FAXO's Resort

We loved the location and all the attractions in the area. Very peaceful, great neighbors, and pet friendly, which was great. The cleaning lady does a very good job with what she has to work with BUT.... The pictures on the VRBO site are very outdated. We had a lot of issues:The carpeting in the bedrooms is disgusting. Stained and has chunks of something in it. Forget cleaning it - tear it out and put something pet-friendly in.The TV in the bedroom doesn't work. There were no batteries in the remotes and one remote didn't have a back to hold the batteries in place.The oven didn't work. We brought pizza's and had to leave them in the freezer when we left. The pool area was not at all what was shown in the pictures - very outdated and not cleaned. I swept the driveway, the patio area, and the steps. The shower in the master bath doesn't drain. The water accumulates around your feet.The hot water is unpredictable while showering - it gets real hot all of a sudden.The toilet in the master sounds like it is trying to fill all the time. Annoying at night. The washing machine stinks really bad - I cleaned around the rubber seal and pulled so much black mold and mildew out.The curtains in the bedrooms need to be cleaned - they are dirty and water stained. We had two dead roaches in one of the top bunk beds.Needless to say, we will not be a repeat customer.

We had a wonderful week here at Faxo's Retreat! We loved the that the back yard was fenced for our fur babies! The house was very nice for it's age. And its so peaceful. We sat on the deck and watched the sunset over the lagoon most nights. Beautiful!!! We will definitely stay there again.

Disappointed

Weā€™ve stayed here three separate times. Had a problem with air conditioning being set by the realtor. Maintenance came out twice. Never added Freon. It never cooled to a point that we were satisfied or comfortable. This will be the last time we stay at this particular beach house. Also, it did not seem that the pool was cleaned on the outside. We saw rats around the pool as well as roaches. Very disappointing. As this has never happened to us before at that particular location.

The house was clean and comfortable great view of little lagoon. The outside however needs some TLC there was a lot of trash on the grounds from previous guests and old pool floats. The landscape also needs some work not very appealing.

Good and Bad

The good: Amazing views, the pool was clean, the house was in a good location, the communication to and from the management company was good. Tbe bad: We were underwhelmed in many ways. We asked about a pool heater on booking and got no answer, then asked again and it wasnā€™t an option. The water went off during our stay unexpectedly. The king beds were not comfortable, the mattresses dipped. The house is cluttered and needs some updates. The floors are all different levels which is a tripping hazard for kiddos. Usually with the properties we stay at there are some amenities and toiletries but we had to get everything. Overall, I wouldnā€™t stay here again.

The house is amazing, very clean, roomy, nice bright feel. The views are also amazing! I have 2 complaints. No outdoor furniture besides a cheap plastic chair. You come to the beach to be outside, so it would seem necessary that you need outdoor living furniture! My second complaint is there are no blankets in this ehile house. There are plenty of sheets and pillows, but not one bed, or closet, has an actual blanket. Other than those 2 things, the house was perfect. Everything worked as it should and it was super clean. I would definitely stay here again but i hope they update the bedding!!

Amazing location. Close to beach, restaurants, grocery stores and shopping. The view from this property is spectacular. The house is spacious and comfortable. Needs a little TLC, but overall it is a very nice property. We had a few issues at check in but the property management was excellent and responded very quickly to resolve our issues. Canā€™t say enough good things about property management. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Sunsets from the pier are breathtaking. I would book this property again.

Summer vacay close to everything-privacy

Loved location. My 78 year old mom came with us. She had porch/breezeway to sit under. Was able to visit with us but still stay cool. We loved having a private pool and could look out at water/lagoon. Small gro store for quick pick ups near us and a big gro store less than 2 miles awayā€”so close to beach too.

Location

This home sits on the Little Lagoon and has a dock where we saw sting rays swimming. The grandchildren loved it. It was nice having a lake, pool and the beach close by.

Relaxing environment

The location was great, slightly of the beaten path yet within walking distance to food, shopping and the beach. We enjoyed the covered back porch and the pool is larger than most. The setting was beautiful overlooking the lake. The cleaning crew could have done a better job, there was broken glass outside under the porch swings and the pool was dirty upon arrival, however the pool cleaners arrived the next day without request. Overall very happy with our stay and we would stay here again.
