The Porches Desoto Landing- Pool, Tennis, Snowbird Heaven!! Porches Galore!

This is a beautiful home located in a gated community on Dauphin Island, Alabama. The house has four bedrooms and three baths. The lower level bedroom suite includes a King sized bed with a private shower bath. French doors lead to a spacious screened porch with views of the beach, gulf and golf course. The second bedroom has a set of child sized bunk beds and a twin bed with access to a full bath off the hallway. On the top floor, there is a huge master suite with a king sized bed and sitting area. The master bath has a large whirlpool tub and separate shower and water closet. There is a porch and balcony with amazing views of the gulf. The 4th bedroom upstairs has a queen bed and is decorated in a sailboat theme. There is a 'toy' closet, train table with trains and video games located in this room for your little ones. There is a loft area at the top of the stairs that hosts a twin bed, but little privacy as there is no door. The house sleeps 10, please see description of bedrooms/size of beds. It is ideal for families with little ones, crib, toddler bed and high chairs included.

Downstairs, the family room has soaring ceilings and access to the wonderful screened porch perfect for coffee and conversation.

The kitchen is fully equipped and the breakfast area has a large table for family meals and games with additional seating on the side deck off the kitchen.

All linens including sheets, towels and beach towels are furnished for your convenience.

This is definitely a house that will force you to relax and take in the wonderful views! The house is located directly across from the beach. The pool, tennis court and boardwalk to the beach are just a short walk away. (about 200 yards).

There is also a sand area for your little ones under the house equipped with sand toys for hours of fun and a break from the sun!

Sorry, no pets or smoking is allowed in this home!

Love The Porches!

This is the third time we have stayed here with our extended family and we love it! It’s a peaceful neighborhood and beach access is a few steps away. The house has a couple beach wagons to haul your stuff, bikes, a few chairs, toys and a great place for kids to play in the sand under the house. The decks are our favorite part! We spend hours hanging out together playing games, doing puzzles and reading. The beach is beautiful and is where we spend the rest of the time, we hardly go anywhere else! Highly recommend this well stocked house with great gathering areas. Beth is very cordial and easy to communicate with.

Family Time

There are plenty of games and toys for kids. We also used the beach chairs and umbrella. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances for cooking. The location is close to the pool and boardwalk. We had a view of the water which was very relaxing for our family.

Family time

We had 3 almost 3 year-olds and an almost 5 year old. This is the perfect property for small ones. Lots of books, riding toys and chairs for them. The walk to the pool and beach is short and having wagons to carry the provided chairs, toys and towels was fantastic.

Lovely Neighborhood

My family travels to DI twice a year. This was our first time staying in Desoto Landing. The house was easy to find and check-in was a breeze. We had a few minor issues, but the host was responsive to messages and apologetic. The neighborhood is quiet and very safe. I was comfortable with even the younger kids walking the beach, neighborhood, etc. The community areas were clean and easily accessible. The pool was never crowded, even during spring break. My only complaint is the bathroom situation. If you have 9+ people in the house, this will be an issue. There is only one bathroom that is not en suite so you could potentially have 6 or more people sharing that. And it is very small. Also anyone that sleeps upstairs (that is not in the master) has to come downstairs to use the restroom at night. Keep this in mind with children and those with limited mobility. Seating in the living room is limited to a couch, loveseat, and children’s seating. We brought chairs from the master bedroom to accommodate our group. Pretty much everything that you need in the kitchen is provided. There is a gas grill under the house as well. We cooked nearly all of our meals there. Be aware…There are a lot of rules. The welcome packet was more involved than any other place that I have ever stayed, but we had no issues complying with expectations. I was overall quite happy with the house and would definitely consider booking this place again.

Nice Family Vacation Home

Spacious home for large family gatherings. Wrap around porches on both levels provide relaxed seating options. Owner provides plenty of indoor games/movies/reading material as well as outdoor beach gear, children’s toys, and tennis equipment. Dauphin Island provides a more laid-back, quiet, and less crowded beach experience than more popular beaches nearby. Community pool and tennis court nice options.

Family Vacation

The Porches was an ideal location for our family beach vacation. The house is convenient to everything offered on Dauphin Island. Desoto Landing offers a pool and tennis court for the children when they tire of the beach. The house is well equipped with kitchen appliances and beach equipment. This is a repeat stay at the property. We have never been disappointed.

Better than expected

For 11 of last 15 years we’ve stayed directly on the west end beach. So here you cannot listen to the waves or walk out the back door onto the beach, BUT we were pleasantly surprised. The house is in wonderful condition, Beth is quick to respond to inquiries or needs, and the a/c held up well in this heat. The beach is a leisurely 5 minute walk. The swimming pool is nice and a good alternative/ addition. Not a lot of cabinet space for your groceries, but you’ll adjust. Plenty of beach chairs, kid toys, and a couple of wagons to use. Plenty of towels and linens as well. No, we weren’t directly on the beach, but we weren’t dragging sand with us inside either. Several porches for which you’ll find different purposes like rocking or swinging or reading. Overall, a fun time in a good community. Thank you Beth!

Home away from home

We could not be more pleased with our stay. The house was unbelievably fully stocked from linens, towels, kitchen needs, and most importantly beach accessories! We literally felt as though we were at our own home. There was nothing we needed that wasn't readily available and plentiful . Another HUGE plus is the outdoor areas. Hence the name ..Porches. . there is just as much outdoor seating and relaxing areas as indoor and of course if your going to enjoy the beach you tend to spend more time outdoors. Both inside and out offered areas to gather with your group or if you needed a little alone time or privacy that was also available. The short walk to the beach is also convenient. We were an older group but kept finding ourselves marveling over the kid friendly atmosphere and wishing we had seen this place when ours were smaller. Overall we had a great experience and appreciated the accuracy in description.

Perfect Family Getaway

The Porches was a delightful house! It is in a quiet neighborhood, perfect for walks and bike rides. It is a couple houses down from the tennis court/pool/beach access - VERY doable for even young kiddos. Beth provides lots of wagons/carts so getting all of your things to and from is super easy. The house is older but clean and well kept. It felt like staying in a home were we could all be comfortable and not feel like the kids (9, 6, 3) were going to break everything. Everything is very well stocked, especially the kitchen and playroom. You can tell Beth takes great pride in her home! As our first experience with Dauphin Island, it couldn't have been better! We would love to return soon.

Just as described

We enjoyed The Porches. Communication with owner was quick and meaningful. The kids in the group enjoyed the toys and sandbox. Beach and pool was nice and close. The wagons were an added appreciated convenience. We will be back to Dauphin Island.

Love the Porches

Another great vacation at the porches. This was our 3rd year at the porches and we where blessed to be able to stay two weeks. We had everything we needed for the beach and the house. Fully stocked kitchen, beach chairs, umbrellas and toys. The kiddos loved the bicycles. Thanks for thinking of everything. Hope to see you next year. Linda H

Great house

Great clean house, with everything one could need. Perfect location, steps from the beach and pool. Had a wonderful stay. Future guests should know that there is very little to do on the island and few places to eat, but if you are looking for a nice quiet location outside of the tourist trap, this is it! Perfect neighborhood. House is super kid friendly too!

Everything we could have asked for!

My family and a friends family stayed here 6/19-6/26. We had 5 kiddos under 8-including a 1 month old. The home owner thought of everything-there was nothing we could have needed that she didn’t have. The house is laid out perfectly for 2 families to share and the numerous porches provided ample areas for relaxation!

We live in Madison, MS and purchased the home at Dauphin Island so we could spend time with family in Mobile. Spent summers at the island as a child and have always loved the laid back atmosphere, friendly people and beautiful beaches.
