Grizzly Bear Lodge -- just fully remodeled!

Come find your rest at the Grizzly Bear Lodge nestled in the woods of the Sierra National Forest. Enjoy the ambience of high, rustic wood ceilings, natural rustic knotty pine, a river rock fireplace and vast open space outside for your privacy and solitude. You will enjoy that cozy feel of being in the mountains, within a (remodeled) rustic cabin, away from it all. There's nothing like the silence of nature under the stars under a recent snowfall in winter. "Lake Privileges"... and the exclusivity of a gated community are included with your stay.

The cozy, yet spacious retreat is located in Sierra Park within the Stanislaus National Forest in a 400 acre privately gated preserve, yet enjoy the convenience of being near everything. The property provides plenty of open space all around the cabin. The kids can play outside or snow sled right on the property, then come it for refreshments. We are 4750 ft. elevation in Long Barn. Go hiking or ice skating and be home for a few minutes to relax.

The cabin is nestled in the woods near great skiing, snowshoeing and hiking. We provide games, puzzles, and magazines. Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge Ski Area nearby. Cross-country skiing (at Dodge Ridge), snowmobiling, and sledding (at Leland Snow Park) are all close as well. Additionally, we are about 1 mile from the ice skating rink in Long Barn and or Lyons Reservoir. The small towns of Sierra Village, Mi-Wuk Village, Sugarpine and Twain Harte are all close. Twain Harte has great shopping, restaurants and recreation opportunities. Go bowling at Black Oak Casino, then grab a pizza in Twain Harte on your way back to the cabin.

The space sleeps 6 people (no more than 4 adults) comfortably. However, we do make an exception for up to 8 guests - provided that at least 4 are children (extra guest fees apply) and that you book in advance. The bedroom on the main floor has a queen-size bed. In the loft bedroom you will find two queen-size beds and one full size bed. The queen beds have warm, down comforters and all have cozy pillows with plenty of extra blankets and quilts.

The cabin will be cleaned and stocked with fresh linens for each bed (reserved on the reservation) with many of the items you will find to meet your needs during your stay.

Provided in the kitchen are dishes, silverware, classes, mugs, a toaster, coffee maker, blender and a waffle maker. There is coffee, tea, hot chocolate, oils, spices for cooking and baking pans stocked for you. The gas BBQ has propane provided (summer) and all of the wood you can burn is included for the fireplace in winter. There are place settings for 6.

The main floor opens into a living room with vaulted ceilings, dining area, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Our front deck provides a beautiful view of the forest and the sounds of a stream (when snow is melting). The ground floor has one bedroom and a full bathroom with a shower. Upstairs you will find an expansive loft with lots of space to spread out. The main level has a large family room with a large couch, a recliner and several chairs. We have a large library collection of DVD's including action, comedy, drama, and kids movies. Our upstairs loft has a TV/DVD/VHS as well. We provide toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, salt, pepper and spices.

We have snow sleds for your use in the winter. A washer and dryer are located within the kitchen (with detergent) can be used to dry those wet snow clothes. There is a TV with DVD in the Living room and one in the loft. We have about 100 movies. With no WiFi or cable you can truly unplug and relax. The only cell service in the area is Verizon ... AT&T does not work! Zoe's Coffee House (crepes, smoothies, coffee and paninis) and Andy's Grill both have free WiFi for those needing to reconnect.

Check-in after 3:00 pm (Occasionally, we can provide an early check-in time if you ask)
Check-out by 10:00 am. Pick up keys in Oakdale. Contact owner if more time is needed.

The cabin is NO SMOKING, NO PETS, NO DRUGS and NO PARTIES, please. Exceeding 5 guests (no more than 4 adults) or violating these rules is cause for your deposit to be forfeited and you will be asked to leave immediately! There are exterior cameras on property for security.
