Whispering Woods is a two-level mountain cabin with today's style set in a lush forest of rhododendrons. Walk to town and everything Highlands has to offer.

The short version:
* 3 BR/2.5 baths (King on main+bath, Queen, Queen + Twin on upper level- one shared bath)
* Within easy walking distance to town, but you may want to take your car
* Three TVs

* The nightly rate will be discounted AFTER you book. The discount amount is based on the length of your stay.
* AFTER you book, you will receive a lease from our office- we charge nothing until you've read the lease. (If you're booking through VRBO, they will charge you a service fee. That fee goes directly to them and is not a part of the lease agreement.)


Longer version:
Main level offers an open floor plan with a kitchen, living and dining area, laundry, and half bath. The master bedroom has a king bed and private bath. The screened porch overlooks native rhododendrons, which also helps provide Whispering Woods a private setting. The upper level has two bedrooms and one full bath. One bedroom has a Queen bed, and the other has a queen bed and one twin- perfect for visiting guest overflow. Enjoy the cool mountain air on the screened porch, a great place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or an afternoon glass of wine, and always with a good book. Whispering Woods proves to be the quintessential home base for discovering Highlands and the surrounding mountain happenings.

The gas log fireplace may or may not be working and is NOT considered to be an amenity of this property. If the gas fireplace is not working, you don't need to let us know. No service call will be made, and it is very important that you do NOT move or handle any part of the gas logs themselves.

This property is IN town, and the setting is serene and private. Easy walking distance to Harris Lake- a great place for a small picnic or to watch the ducks and geese. Another few hundred steps will lead you to the library, churches, and Main Street, and don't forget about The Nature Center or hiking up Sunset Rock- you can look down over the whole town from there. We consider Whispering Woods to be a walk-to-town property, but some renters do not.
Rest assured, almost everything is within 5-10 minutes if you must take your car. The restaurants in Highlands range from pickup food (there are no fast-food chains) to 4-star dining establishments. The shopping has you covered with a variety of items, from T-shirts to furs, trinkets to high fashion, fine jewelry, collectibles for your home, and furnishings.

WiFi is included
All three TVs have an Amazon Firestick for ease in watching. An added plus: YouTube TV is INCLUDED, so you can watch any show available, including most sports.
The gas-log fireplace may not be operable and is not included in the rental.
This home has a three-night minimum, except for HOLIDAYS AND SOME LOCAL EVENTS
NO PETS (note for those who are allergy prone: the owner of this home has a pet, so it's not a 'pet-free' home)

When you book your reservation through VRBO/Homeaway, the Property Manager handling this property will be notified by VRBO/Homeaway that a reservation has been made.
You will be asked to enter your credit card information, but you will not be charged for your reservation at this time. You WILL be charged a nominal service fee by VRBO/Homeaway. The fee is between you and VRBO/Homeaway; the property manager has nothing to do with the fee.
After the property manager has been notified of your reservation, you can rest assured this property is being held for you. You are booked.
The property manager will email you a lease. The lease will need to be reviewed, signed and returned to the property manager. If you haven’t received a lease within 72 hours it could be because the property manager/rental office is closed. (Operating hours are Mon-Fri 10-4) OR you may need to check your SPAM folder. Your lease will have options- usually the price you pay will be less than what is shown because all the options are listed.
The property manager/rental office for this property is a small-town business and we’ve been renting properties for over 30 years. We use VRBO/Homeaway for rental leads/reservations. A portion of your rental proceeds goes to VRBO/Homeaway for their service.
