Wonderful setting for our family of 6 couples and 5 babies/ toddlers. Plenty of beds/ bathrooms/ tables and eating spaces. The living room was large and we had so much fun gathering, playing games and watching babies toddle around. The tubes and kayalks were a top favorite. The owners, Lynnae and Jeff were very responsive to all my questions. We might have to book again in following years.

Great house! This house is in an incredible location right on the river, and the outdoor area was amazing — the perfect place to relax and hang out! There were plenty of beds and tons of space, which made it perfect for our group. The hosts were fantastic, welcoming, and made everything so easy. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would happily come back again! Highly recommend this place!

I was a little stunned by how old the house was. It's extremely old and has been built onto, so the layout is bizarre. There was a shower in what used to be a closet, and the door is held shut with a clamp. I was extremely embarrassed that this is what I chose for our girls' trip. The listing should be an 8-bedroom, not a 9-bedroom, since one bedroom is open with no set wall/door to separate it from the stairs and other bedroom. Some of the walls were pretty dirty. Washing them so they are clean again would go a long way.The yard is beautiful, and it's as pictured.

Sorry you didn't enjoy the house more. It is an old rustic river house in the woods so maybe it was not your cup of tea. However we take great pride in keeping the place clean. The issues you talk about are some tattered wall paper not dirt. It would take an entire room make over to improve it. And the clip on the shower is for the guest's convience to make sure the shower door stays shut. Speaking with several of the women in your group they seemd to enjoy the place quite a bit.

This home that we rented for our family reunion is on the Guadalupe River. The home has a beautiful backyard with huge trees facing the river. The home has its own dock for launching kayaks and inner tubes onto the river. There are a dozen inner tubes and four or five kayaks at the house. You can’t get a more beautiful location on the river. The owners were very helpful. I would highly recommend this home on the river. Steve from Los Angeles

Absolutely wonderful hosts anc house. The view was gorgeous. I watched deer, cardinals, an egret, a heron and other birds. The view of the river was great. My grandson caught his first fish from the dock. The beds were so comfortable. The owner welcomed me and showed me through the house. I would love to go back again!

The host was very welcoming and even greeted us upon our arrival. The patio and outdoor setting was stunning. So many places to enjoy. The inside was nice and interesting. Many different rooms, and the kitchen was small but suited everything we needed to make meals for 18 people.

The grounds were spectacular! We had a family reunion at Gruene Haven for eleven cousins ranging from 65 to 88 years in age. There were plenty of outdoor and in-door games and activities. We spent many hours on the patio watching the peaceful river go by. Deer were abundant. And cooking outdoors was perfect! However, we cannot recommend this house for anyone with mobility issues. The driveway is extremely steep. There are stairs to get into the house and stairs to all the bedrooms except the two on the main level. Several bedrooms are not private because you have to go through them to access the other bedrooms and/or the bathrooms. The kitchen is fairly small but there is a nice pass through window to the porch. Plenty of coffee pots, and pots and pans for cooking, as well as coffee, tea, and spices. Lynnae and Jeff were very responsive and greeted us upon arrival to show us the property. One review said the interior was “bizarre” and I would have to agree, but there are plenty of beds to sleep in if that is what you need. The biggest complaint we had was the septic system. I saw another review that mentioned the horrible smell and it wasn’t diapers because we had none. The smell was particularly strong downstairs. There was also a large group that had checked out right before we arrived so it might have been an overload on the septic tank. Jeff came right over to check out the smell but couldn’t repair it while we were there. The reunion was great with space for everyone!

Sorry that you had so many things go wrong during your stay. The odor was caused by leaves plugging a sewer system vent stack on the roof. We had a recent very windy storm a few days before your arrival that must have caused it. It was not related to the issues we had earlier in the summer or an over loaded septic tank.

This property on the river is a wonderful way to enjoy the Texas Hill Country with deer passing through and ducks swimming downstream, it is truly a treasure! The backyard is set up with tables, corn hole, outdoor tv and sound system which made our welcome bbq for wedding guests a perfect place to start my daughter’s wedding weekend!

Family wedding

Best weekend ever!

We loved staying here so much! We had about 20 college students and it was great, we definitely want to come back. Tons of room to spread out and the best outdoor space you could ask for. Great location too, only a 20 minute walk from Gruene Hall.

Amazing spot on the river! Owners were super sweet and very prompt to answer any questions! Love the rivier front large front yard. All rooms nice and cold! Our whole group had a blast!
