Secluded, high on a knoll, our home offers majestic treetop views of the sunrise over Pigeon Hill Bay and Petit Manan Lighthouse.
The full kitchen offers everything required to prepare meals. A small breakfast bar with two stools allows an easy place to oversee the family chef in action; just off from the breakfast bar is the dining area with four seats and a great view of the bay.
The cottage offers two bedrooms, one and a half bathrooms, and a spacious living room divided by a perfect nesting place to enjoy a good book or simply relax while glancing at the bay. The living room offers new furniture for your comfort.
The house also boasts an enclosed front porch with rocking chairs. Itā€™s perfect for that morning coffee with peaceful, breathtaking views of the bay, the lighthouse and an array of birds including eagles, seagulls, hawks and sea ducks. Outside has a fire pit with plenty of firewood and chairs to sit around and enjoy. Outdoor games, too!.
"Chipman's Wharf" offers haddock, steamer clams, fresh picked lobster meat and much more. Purchase cooked lobsters and keep hot in your own cooler until dinner time! They are located in the neighboring town of Milbridge.
Plan the day with a hike! Our cottage is centrally located for a great Two-Fer; we have Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge to the right, and Pigeon Hill Preserve to the left! Both easily within walking distance or they each have a parking area if you prefer to drive (short two minute drive). The two trails are great for easy walking or hiking. The wildlife refuge is a great place for bird watching; it is not uncommon to have the place to yourself, and in August there are low bush blueberries for picking.
Take a day trip to explore one of the nation's most beloved parks, Acadia
National Park. Acadia National Park on Mt. Desert Island is approximately an hour drive from Wind Rose Cottage. Acadia at Schoodic Peninsula is a shorter drive, approximately 40 minutes. Both offer hiking trails through the forest or rocky shorelines. Bar Harbor hosts many restaurants and shops; a great place to spend the day.
Our quaint, coastal village at Pigeon Hill is the perfect place to relax and avoid the everyday rush. Please inquire; we look forward to hearing from you.

The best rental we have ever had. Beats a hotel room every time and was very comfortable and near everything we wanted to do. Watching the two families of deer and the hummingbirds each day was a real bonus.

Great cottage for our visit to Maine

Clean well appointed cottage in a beautiful setting. We couldnā€™t ask for anything more during our visit. One hour plus to Acadia but the ride was easy. Wonderful host. And the views from the cottage were magnificent!

Great place to stay near Acadia National Park

Wandaā€™s place was a lovely spot to come back to after a long day of hiking! The kitchen was stocked with plenty of utensils and there was an abundance of materials for making fires. The beds were also super comfortable and the washing machine/dryer was awesome to have! Definitely it key recommend :)

The house is in a nice remote location, yet close enough to do a day trip to Acadia. There is plenty to do on the peninsula in its own right though with a rocky beach across the street and hiking/biking.

Immaculate and comfortable cottage with water view

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this comfortable cottage across from Pigeon Hill Bay. The view is lovely and the location is great- between two different nature spots that we enjoyed visiting. The house is well-furnished and very well cared for. Totally recommend!

The host was delightful. Very communicative and helpful. The welcome book provided a lot of helpful information. While it is a way from Bar Harbor, it provided a great launching point to go to Bar Harbor or to explore farther along the coast.

Lovely stay in well-appointed cottage

Windrose Cottage was even nicer than described, and sparkling clean. We appreciated extremely prompt responses from the property manager, and spotted distant porpoises using the provided binoculars. The Acadia Puffin tour was a highlight, as were two well-marked hiking areas nearby. The small working lobster town of Milbridge hosts some great seafood takeout places.

Wonderful, family friendly property

We had a wonderful time at this cottage. Quiet spot with a rocky beach across the street. Several lightly trafficked trails nearby. Great view. Plenty of yard and driveway for the kids to play! They enjoyed riding their scooters and playing in the woods. What a gem.

Excellent Clean and amazing view

We thoroughly enjoyed this house on Pigeon Hill Bay. The house is managed very well and while the rules were extensive, they were pretty much what we would do anyway. We typically leave a house cleaner than we found it but would be hard pressed to do so in this case. Great tips about local places and fun local hikes and food options nearby made for a terrific stay. Thanks!!

This comfy, spotlessly clean cottage is tucked away on a quiet street directly across from the water. We were able to explore so much: Millbridge, Ellsworth, Hancock, Trenton, Bar Harbor, Acadia (both at Bar Harbor & Schoodic), and lots of unincorporated area. I cannot say enough about how nice this cottage is. Additionally, the host, Wanda, was very helpful and a joy to work with. She even made sure to check in on us when a storm blew through and knocked out the power, which lasted appx. 8 hrs. We will definitely be back on our next Maine trip!

Wonderful Stay at Petit Manan

Just a wonderful property and a wonderful location. The house was immaculate and everything was in perfect order. The location was great right across the street from the ocean, but up the hill where there was a nice view and it was a little bit quieter away from the road itself. We enjoyed biking down and hiking in Petit Manan and having larger outings towards Machias and Schoodic. Wonderful long weekend for a family!

Rural coastal Maine

We had a great visit and loved the coastal and local feel of the property. The major attractions in the area (Bar Harbor, Acadia, etc.) were about an hour away. Only things we felt were a bit excessive were all the rules and demands for housekeeping. We kept the place tidy and left it as we received it. But if we were charged a cleaning fee why should we have to do all the cleaning before we left? Weā€™re on a vacation, and it should feel that way. Thanks, Cheryl

All in all it was very nice

I thought I saw a gas grill in the pictures, but there wasnā€™t one during our visit. The brick base around the wood stove was concerning. We ran into it several times hurting our feet/toes! Ouch!! Overat. It was a lovely cottage and we enjoyed our stay
