Emily was a wonderful host. Very responsive and friendly. This is our 4th year staying at Harbor Island and by far this is our favorite home. It is large and laid out well with an open floor plan. The family could all eat t together comfortably. The furniture and beds were comfortable. The kitchen has everything we needed for preparing family dinners. Having two golf carts were wonderful! The porch overlooking the marsh is amazing! I highly recommend this home. We will definitely be back!

The house was great for our 3 family spring break trip! There was plenty of space for everyone and the golf carts were a HUGE hit! You cannot beat sitting on the deck and looking out at the water. We were thankful we brought bikes so the kids could ride around the neighborhood and explore. Emily was an amazing host and we all wish we were back there right now!

Great House!

Our family of 11 loved staying at The Starfish! There was plenty of room for everyone, beautiful view, and the island was very quiet and peaceful. The owner was quick to respond to any questions and was very helpful!

Wonderful host and home

This home is perfect for families with kids. Rooms are setup for kids and their buddies. 2 golf carts make it easier to access the beach and pool. Grab you coffee and watch the sunrise on back deck. Maybe the best sunrise view on entire island

Beautiful House and great owner to work with!

The house was beautiful and was well stocked with cooking supplies and cleaning supplies. We had an issue with one of the golf carts but the house owner was easy to get in touch with and very wonderful to work with!. The neighborhood is just a short drive to the State Park!

Great stay with family

Totally enjoyed our stay at the Starfish! Emily was the most courteous host I've ever dealt with! The house was all we had hoped for and more. The annual pass to Hunting Island was also an unexpected plus! We had six adults and 5 children in our group and never once did we feel cramped. Enough space for everyone to enjoy. Highly recommend the Starfish!

Beautiful Home..

We loved our stay at the sailfish! We had all our family in from 3 states and it was a very memorable trip. From the fishing.. to the alligators..turtles.. beach..etc. we always had something to do!! The kids loved it.. taking walks on beach.. driving into Charleston, Savannah.. all so close to visit! Just the perfect week and we can’t thank you enough for sharing your home with us!

Private Get Away

The house was gorgeous, and just what we needed with 4 adults and 4 teens. Definitely use the golf carts to get to the beach. You will not be walking to it. Never had trouble getting parking at the accesses, so it was perfect. If we ever decide to go to Harbor Island again this would be the house to get!

Fabulous house!

This was by far the prettiest and most well equipped house we have ever rented on the island. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. Lots of bikes and 2 golf carts were very helpful for our large crew. The beds were very comfortable and the pool table was fun as well. The only draw back would be the mosquitos around the house but that is to be expected staying in the marsh area. We would absolutely stay again and the host was SO kind and prompt with responses! Fabulous rental property for sure.

Great Vacation Spot

We had a great time on our vacation. The house is amazing. Enough room for all 10 of us. The back porch view of the marsh and ocean was great. House had everything we needed including two golf carts, bikes and beach chairs. The community pool was clean as were the tennis courts. Beach access in the community was easy and the beach was not crowded. Hunting State Park has great beaches as well (Park pass was provided and only a 5 min drive). Local restaurants were good. We recommend the Foolish Frog (good seafood and atmosphere) and Beedos (best burgers ever). Overall..... and excellent vacation spot.

Fantastic

We were in town to pick up my son after graduation of boot camp to the USMC (some shameless pride) and we had 8 people. The house had plenty room for all us including bathrooms. Everything was clean and the decor was on point. Unfortunately because of hurricane Michael the weather wasn’t cooperating so we didn’t get to use the pool. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this property.

Neighbors vacation

Our neighbor's children play golf and had a tournament in the area. The house was the perfect size to fit us all. It was clean, well stocked with dishes, crock pots ( if needed), washer and dryer. The golf carts were great fun and convenient. I really prefer to stay on the ocean, but the marsh was a lovely change. We loved hearing the puff mudd made by the shrimp. The back porch was my favorite place to sit and read. The hunting island pass was great to use. Overall we loved it! I didn't like that at low tide there was no water, but the kids loved finding all the sea creatures and walking the sandbar. The beach was clean, sandy and not crowded.

This home was exactly what we needed for the perfect family getaway!

The Sailfish was wonderfully located, and the scene from the back of the house was beautiful looking across to Hunting Island on one side with the Marsh in the foreground and the ocean beyond that. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to prepare a meal for a crowd. The bedrooms were spacious, and the entire house was well designed and lovely. Our family truly appreciated the abundance of items that made our stay so nice ( the 2 golf carts, the 7 or was it 8 ? bikes, the pool table, the foos ball table, the beach chairs, etc.). Harbor Island is a lovely place and the residents we met were very friendly and welcoming. We give it a huge thumbs up and hope to return in the future.

Picture Perfect

Home is just as pictured. We spent a week here with our children and grandchildren. We had everything needed for a perfect vacation. Home is well equipped and maintained. Owners have thought of EVERYTHING you might need. The grandchildren enjoyed the pool and bikes. Adults enjoyed kayaks in the sound as dolphins played around them. Beautiful views from the deck as we enjoyed evening meals. Highly recommend the Sailfish for family fun! Laura and Allen are great to work with. All arrangements taken care of before you arrive. You drive up and let the fun begin! Thanks for a wonderful week!

Relaxing and wonderful!

The house was perfect for our group of 14 for our first family vacation! The house was clean, comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked for all your cooking needs. Our favorite spots were the covered porch looking onto the marsh (any time of the day) and the upstairs game room. Minimal mosquitos during our stay. The 2 golf carts made it easy to get around the island. There are 7 beach access points. Access 4 was the easiest. The beach was great as there are no waves and the pool area was very nice. The Turtles Nest is a gift shop/ small grocery/pharmacy items, at the pool. Highly recommend the meatball subs and the chicken salad sandwiches. Emily, the owner, was easy to get a hold of and quick to respond. Hunting Island State Park was absolutely gorgeous! Along with house you get a free pass to enter the State park. It says up to four people but they let our van load of people in. It is only 5 min drive from the house. Harbor Island and the house was wonderful but I do have to mention that the HOA that manage the island is no joke. Do not park golf carts in areas that have no sign and if there is no parking spots to park your cart you must use another access. $ 50 fine- no warning. Also closest stores, Walmart, Food Lion are about 20 min drive. We did online food shopping prior to arrival which saved us time. We enjoyed this house and the area very much and highly recommend this house for your next family event!

Lovely and large home!

This house is really beautiful- furnishings are nice, beds are comfortable, kitchen is big, and the view is pretty. The bedrooms and bathrooms (except for bath on top floor) are really big- the pics don’t do it justice and so nice to have 3 kings plus the other “kids rooms”- so much space! Golf carts are great as it is a ride to pool and beach. There was all you need of kitchen stuff, plenty of kids toys, a few books, and a great upstairs game room- perfect for our 4 kids. Emily was great- very responsive, friendly, and helpful! I talked to her before the trip as well as a few times via text at check in and check out. It’s so nice to hear back from a VRBO host so quickly! Two tips for this house: 1)bring LOTS of bug spray- this house is on the marsh and mosquitos have staked claim of this whole section of the island. 2) bring your own beach towels (and if you like larger bath towels bring those too- the ones there are very small). Tips for the island- the 9-11am and 4-7pm are great time for beach time for littler kids. Bring a tent. Beach is best (reasonable distance between sand and ocean even at low tide) between beach access 2 and 4. If you want more expansive sand- go closer to beach access 1. If you want fishing, go to very end of island- I think it’s past beach access 7- small beach where river and ocean meet- not a great place for little kids who want to play in the water bc of the current. Pool is more crowded in the afternoon so try the morning if you prefer less people. There are no umbrellas at pool and not a ton of shade and they don’t really want you bringing umbrellas or tents there, so if you like sun bathing, this is your spot! All in all, Harbor is a nice family friendly place and this house is really lovely!

WOW!This home was amazing. The owner was so wonderful and easy to get ahold of. I can’t or I could say so many things. This place was beautiful, welcoming, totally set up with everything we needed. The back porch was perfect for the kids great furniture and a tv. The next door neighbor was so nice and helpful. If you don’t rent this home you are missing out. Thanks again Emily. Great house

We have been visiting Harbor Island for 15 years, sometimes multiple times a season. This is by far the best house we have rented. The game room is perfect for teens, as are the 2 golf carts. Enough beds for family and friends to enjoy. House is about as far from the beach and community pool as you can be, but the views of the sunrise and Hunting Island from the back deck more than make up for that. Kitchen is about as well stocked as you would expect from your own kitchen. House was very clean and well kept. Host was great to communicate with.

Sweet Summertime in SC

We loved this house! It was so spacious and clean. We rent a beach house each summer for the past ten years and of all the places we’ve stayed, this house was the cleanest! We loved the big back deck. We watched the sun set and even saw the June “Strawberry Supermoon”—it was spectacular. I wish I could post a picture here to show. The golf carts were a ton of fun to use to get to the pool and beach. My husband hit golf balls just about every day at the area in the neighborhood reserved for it. The furniture was comfortable and clean. We cooked a few nights and found everything we needed in regards to pots and pans. The kids loved the game room upstairs. Well, actually the adults loved it too :) We spent one day at Hunting State Park and it was lovely. Definitely recommend going there if you’ve never been (and it’s just down the road). The only hiccup in our visit was purchasing one too many parking passes. My brother’s family (who has 8 people) traveled 12 hours from Ohio. Due to the significant increase in the cost of gas, they packed as minimally as possible (yay for a washing machine!) so they could drive one less vehicle. We were unable to be refunded for the extra car pass ($80). This wasn’t the home owners fault. The HOA would not give the refund which is really a reflection of their association. We felt it was petty on their part. With the click of a mouse Shannon Durrance (contact person for the HOA) could have made that happen but flatly refused when I spoke with her on the phone. I understand having policies but come on, really? For future reference—You can purchase an extra car pass the day you arrive. We know because we did last summer when we stayed at a different property on the island. I brought up this point with Shannon and she said yes, that’s right. If I had known they would refuse to refund the extra pass, I would have waited to buy them on the day we arrived. It’s a nonissue if your family is all in the same vehicle. And of course we didn’t let that mishap ruin our week but won’t make the same mistake in the future if we visit Harbor Island again. If we do, we absolutely loved this home and would stay here again.

Great for families-beautiful views

Property had a great setup and accommodations for just about anyone. Great house for 3 families. Plenty of room for sleeping and space to get away outside on balcony or front porch. Kitchen had all the necessary supplies you would need. -coffee pot or keurig (they did have some left over coffee filters, but just in case I would bring some) One recommendation would be to have hangers in the closets (we were on a family reunion so I had nowhere to hang dresses etc in one of the rooms) Room to the right (when looking at the house from the front) did not have a dresser or place to put any folded cloths either. Not a huge deal, but just a comment to consider if you rent. Wal-mart/Publix online order for pickup prior to arrival is a must, hard to get quick drinks/food without driving 20 minutes. Make sure you only park in designated areas around Harbor Island- NO PARKING on streets or sides of the road by beach or you will be fined $50. There are no signs anywhere to say no parking, we were told it was because private property and they can not put up signs?? I believe they could put up a sign that says private property, but owner would have to agree. Emily does put this in her instructions, so read all of them thoroughly. The HIOA makes a killing on unnecessary parking fines! So beware. Use the golf carts they were a very nice addition to the house rental. Beaches are nice, but coming from FL not what we are used to. We also used the bikes and beach chairs, some do need repair or are rusted which is expected with the beach air- nice addition as well-really appreciated one less thing to pack :) Overall would highly recommend this property for people to rent. Beautiful views and very nice home that is well maintained and cared for. Definitely a place to consider for a week vacation. Emily the owner was great and responsive.

Great family getaway!

This is such a great house with amazing views! Sitting on the porch for morning coffee will be one of my very favorite memories from this trip. The kitchen is fully stocked with all you'll need including two crock pots, multiple casserole dishes, a griddle, dishes, ample utensils, mixing bowls, cookie sheets, and more! All of the beds are very comfortable and it was so great to have three of the bedrooms with king sized beds. All of the appliances are top grade, including what seemed like a brand new washer and dryer set. There is an outdoor shower, bikes, beach chairs, etc available for use. The house is located on a very quiet street and is just a quick ride to the beach. I can't say enough good things about the wonderful host, Emily, she is fantastic! She is a quick text away and always responded so promptly. We really appreciated her top notch hospitality and look forward to future trips to Harbor Island!
