The View was to die for but the property was a dead duck

The best part of the property was the verandah which had the best view of the opening of the Isis River at Burrum Heads where you could watch the tide come and go and walk out of the property to the expanse of sand that went on forever. Then you walked into the house there was an odor like old lady's clothes that need a wash. The 1970's décor was great, just a pity the cleaners had not given the place a good clean since about the 90's. The BBQ was thick with dirt, the actual grill on the BBQ was clean thanks to previous traveler's not the cleaners. Both the lounge areas had lounges that needed either complete re-upholstery or steam cleaning. The TV area lounge had no support and killed your back if you sat long enough to watch a movie. Only free to air 7,9,10,SBS and ABC channels, no internet. The music player was an MP3 which did not work and had to be moved to the bottom lounge because there was no extension cord to play it only the radio played and only able to get ABC. Curtains, walls, most surfaces needed dusting. All the ceiling fans needed cleaning as they had dust on them in thick lumps that fell off when you used them Then we get to the bathroom. clean but a crazy set up the swinging bar slat doors to the shower had not been dusted for at least a year the build up of dust was thick. The bathroom has warnings on the internet and on all documentation, if you are cleaning your teeth in the bowels don't step back into the sunken bath. The teenage girls liked the sunken bath and used it. I have also let the letting agent know that the house needs a full "Bond" Clean and I hope that she takes notice because return business will blow away with the dust.

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property is in a great location and it is spacious with a great balcony and wonderful outlook.Unfortunately it was very dusty, windows were dirty, curtains need a wash and the rubbish bin hadn't been emptied for a long time and it was full of maggots.

Perfect position, on the beach,walking distance to shops.

Lovely old house,but needs repairs,for safety reasons,power points in bedrooms not safe,needs to be fixed straight away. Front sliding door needs to be adjusted.

Retro accommodation by the water

For those who love 70s retro, this is a real visit to the past, from bright green kitchen bench tops to sunken tile bath and crockpot in the cupboard. The layout is a bit unconventional but with this view that can be overlooked. The area is quiet and access to the beach is just outside your front door. Great for a quiet few days away.

disappointing

Great location for walks and views. Shocking, musty smell as we entered a closed up house. We could not bear to sleep in the main bedroom as the mouldy musty smell persisted even after intense ventilation. We ended up taking some mattresses out of a reasonably clean room and placed them on the floor for sleeping. The cutlery was awful; the agent kindly let us some from her stash from the opp shop. The kitchen bench tops are unhygienic and a health hazard, probably reportable to the Health Department. The tiled bath in bathroom presents a tripping risk. No air con. The couch was disgusting so I sat on a kitchen chair to watch TV. The holiday let agent (new to the area) was as horrified as us. We were offered a possible move but decided to tough it out as we were tired from travel. There was an offer of an extension to the stay - LOL!!! Never will we use that house again and we'd be very wary of using that agent also. Elders Burrum Heads Real Estate.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Perfect location - great views of the water. Quiet & peaceful. Can walk everywhere - no need to drive. Furniture & decor a bit sparse & dated but very clean & comfortable. Need to update the VCR player - now obsolete. Stove, fridge, dishwasher & washing machine all new. Will be back - the most relaxing holiday ever.

Beautiful location just back from the beach at Burrum Heads. Clean, tidy holiday rental and very comfortable. Great place to relax.

The views are amazing, the bed was super comfy, shower perfect and all the amenities you need. It is dated but the position makes up for it. We will be back.
