From the outside, Gentle Ben's Den resembles a classic Smoky Mountain log cabin, but inside, itā€™s a modern retreat packed with luxury. With two distinct gaming areas for your group to spread out, the cabin features a Jacuzzi, pool table, foosball, air hockey, multi-game arcade, four king bedrooms, and free Wi-Fi.

Each of the three stories has a deck with stunning woodland views, complete with Adirondack chairs and rockersā€”perfect for taking in fall foliage or lush greenery. The main level features a screened-in porch with a hot tub, ideal for relaxing after a mountain adventure.

Inside, the great room is spacious and cozy, with wood furnishings from local artisans, a 50-inch HDTV, premium cable, a Blu-ray player, and a fireplace for aprĆØs-ski drinks. The dining area and a bistro table on the deck are perfect for alfresco meals, with a gas grill for barbecue lovers. The fully equipped kitchen is perfect for any culinary needs, but if cooking isn't your thing, dining options are just minutes away. The primary suite, located on the main floor, has a king-size bed, flat-screen TV, and a private bathroom with a Jacuzzi and shower.

The lower level includes two bedrooms, a full bath, and one of two game rooms, where you can enjoy pool, arcade games, or relax by the fireplace. A futon in the game room and a sofa in the great room convert into beds, allowing Gentle Benā€™s Den to sleep up to 12.

We really enjoyed our vacation. The cabin was nice with lots of amenities. We all enjoyed the game rooms and the hot tub. The rooms were comfortable as well. We even saw bears every day outside our cabin. Suggestions for improvement would be in regards to the top floor shower head. It is not attached inside the wall and it feels like it might come dislodged when you change the shower spray strength. Need a heavier duty and longer shower curtain for the top floor shower as well. We didnā€™t use the dishwasher, even though it appears to be new, because it isnā€™t properly attached inside the cabinet. We decided to wash everything by hand. We would definitely visit again. We had a very enjoyable time.

Great location

We stayed a couple of weeks ago. Great location. Clean. The fireplaces were wonderful since we stayed while it was cold outside. Getting to Gatlinburg was super easy. You have to check out some of the shops closer to the cabin too! It was easy to get to the grocery store. Not bad for our last trip to Gatlinburg with a senior in high school that has decided to join the Marines. We enjoyed our stay.

We had a GREAT time in Gatlinburg. This house is a great place for a big family! The grill on the deck did not work and if you want to cook meals there isnā€™t a lot of pans to pick from, so you might check that out before you purchase groceries. We had a little incident with the alarm system and cops came but everything checked out okay!!!

Plenty of room for 4 Couples with 4 King bed rooms. Needs a touch of high area cob web cleaning. Kitchen was well stocked with pans and utensils for cooking meals in! Sauna was not working but I don't think we would have used it anyway so a none issue. Propane tank for gas grill had enough to start grill and and put our food on and then it was empty. We carried a spare with us fortunately. We did have a nice stay and it is very convenient to the downtown area just a few minutes away. The left side lower level guest room did not seem to acclimate to the temperature that was set, was a bit cold this time of year.

A very disappointing stay.

Door code didn't work. Master bedroom had bedbugs. Shower curtain had mold. For the price that I payed I would expect the place would've been clean and free of bedbugs but not only was it dirty and moldy, the master bedroom had bedbugs. I arrived at the location after a full 10 hours of driving so what we all wanted was to shower and hit the bed but what we got instead was a door code that didn't work and an extra 2+ hours on the phone with customer service because contacting the host was a complete nightmare.

Not the best value in town. 2 stars because it was suitable for our family. Horribly managed.

The cabin itself wasnā€™t really that bad for a large family. The location was good. And, while no mountain view, the decks and wooded views were lovely. The cabin was suitable and realitively comfortable. However, there was a layer of wear on most everything. Fine if you have small children, I suppose. If youā€™re excited about the arcade game, donā€™t be. It doesnā€™t work. The reason for two stars is due to the management of the property. We rent houses multiple times a year and this was by far the most frustrating experience. It isnā€™t exactly clear who manages the property as we have coorespondence from no fewer than 3 company names. Jackson Mountian Homes seems to be the primary. They make you download an ap which is utterly useless. We had called around 2:45pm and they said the cabin was ready and the code would be pushed to the ap. It never was. I called around 3:40- with all eleven in our party waiting at the house- to try and get the code but I only got the answering machine. After about 5 calls I called reservations to try to get some help. After three calls and two disconnects from them, they finally were able to get the code from someone in maintenance. I was told that EVERYONE in customer service was in a meeting (at check-in time on the Friday before a holiday weekend?!?!). Ridiculous. We arrived in the house to find- while ā€œcleanedā€ - there were cigarette-butts all over the deck, a full bottle of tobacco spit, used grounds in the coffee maker, cobwebs all over light fixtures (lamps, dining room/kitchen), nothing had been dusted in some time. The beds and bath seemed clean. Using the mandatory ap, I notified them of the issues, completed two check-in surveys, and emailed the customer service team, as instructed. The next day- over 24 hours later- they called back to see if they needed to come take care of any housekeeping issues... over 24 hours later! We had already cleaned house ourselves. I would avoid Jackson Mountain rentals if this is how theyā€™re managed. Too many other great options out there. If they make any effort to make this experience right, Iā€™ll edit the review. As of now, Iā€™ve not heard anything from them- in spite of my reaching out.

Great Stay!

We had a family vacation since now our youngest graduated high school and our oldest college. We had a great time, both in and out of the cabin. The game room was a wonderful distraction on rainy evenings. The only downside is whoever is going to occupy the second floor bedroom needs to be very light on their feet because those on the main level will hear all.

A little disappointed

Here are a few things that we noticed *No big sauce pan there is a small and medium. When cooking for a group need bigger pan. Had to use the dutch oven pot *No Pillow cases on the extra pillows in the master. When requested did not get them til the next day *No drip pan on grill. When grilling the dripping fell on the mat we did scrape them up but there needs to be a drip pan *Electric Can opener is hard to use and the manual one does not work *Killed some bugs in the living room area. Killed a huge spider in master shower. Couldn't tell exactly what they were. Yes i am aware we are in a wooded area. *The windows in the living room going to side porch need to be cleaned. Looks like it has been done in quite a while. *There is some mold on the shower door in the master bath. *The back door by the kitchen table sticks really tight and is very hard to open to go on the deck * the shower upstairs is leaking into the master shower The refrigerator has no railing on the shelf door so you cant use it. I was disappointed as these things should not be happening considering this type of rental this is. Please contact me for the photos. Of the items i am talking about.

The property was great. Communication before getting to the property was limited. Online stated check in at 3 check out at 11. Could not get a code before 4:00pm, and had to check out by 10:00am. Starting the day after we arrived, we got at least 2 messages a day about when we were supposed to leave. Literally had more text messages and emails about leaving in 3 days than I did about the actual reservation and stay over a period of 5 months.

First and foremost... the kidney shaped pool in the pictures does not exist. There is a different community pool down the road from the house. It is fenced in and NOT open Labor Day to Memorial Day so if you have kids that want to swim on spring break... this isn't the house for you. Our other deal breaker complaints... I would be hard pressed to find pillow as crappy as the ones they have. These are even below Wal-Mart level. They are probably a decade old, stained and they smell. Beds aren't much better. This "vacation" killed my back. The upstairs bed so loud the people who stayed in that room struggled to sleep. We were woken all night with the slightest shift as well, as we were in the room below them. When I say loud, I mean LOUD. I'm not sure if it is the bed or the floor but it's a bad deal... lol. I have a laundry list of complaints about this place. Bottom line is, pictures are taken with a wide angle lense and brightened. House is dirty, windows haven't been washed in I don't know how long, carpet and rugs are stained and gross, there is one 8" frying pan and about ten tiny (2-3 cups) pots (we had to buy cookware for our larger group), no cleaning products (be prepared to buy dish soap, paper towel, toilet paper, laundry soap, garbage bags, etc), NO VIEW (pictures aren't accurate), no garbage pick up, the upstairs shower is about to be a first floor shower, dining room table is too big for the space so the door hits every time you go in or out, there was a garbage bag of towels on the door knob when we arrived. They didn't give us enough towels for everyone to have their own. We had to go and purchase more towel for showering and so we could have some extras for the hot tub (which was gross, btw... ha!), couches are old and smell. Batting is gone in them and they also make noise. The sound they make sounds like a fart so at least we got a chuckle out of them. There isn't a single board game or deck of card complete enough to play. The layout of the house is good for large groups. It was nice having the kids downstairs. They just need to take some of the ridiculously high rental fees and put it back into the property. We were disappointed to say the least and really bummed out about how much we paid vs. what we got. I did not contact the rental company while we were there considering the list of items wrong with the house wasn't going to be rectified. We didn't want cleaners and workers in the house while

Leaks in 2 separate bedrooms. Poor communication with owner/manager

The top floor shower leaked in the ground floor bathroom. Ground floor toilet leaked into bottom floor bedroom so the bed was not sleepable. Reported immediately upon finding, and was told I would be contacted first thing Sunday morning. I never heard anything from anyone. The cabin itself was nice, spacious, and cozy but we were afraid to use the water after finding the second leak. The experience was not pleasant but we made the best of it.

Weekend family trip

Overall our stay was good. The cabin was awesome with 3 floors to keep everyone separated and the sauna in the basement was an awesome bonus. However, the hot tub did not work which was disappointing especially to the little people with us begging to get in. And the cabin wasnā€™t very clean - picked up but not clean. Several bugs and dust/dirt everywhere. Just didnā€™t feel clean and comfortable while in there which was a bummer. Especially with small children you want to feel that you are in a clean space.

Wonderful stay

We shared this cabin with another couple and there was plenty of room to be together or apart as needed. Everything was very neat and clean. We enjoyed the use of the hot tub and the pool table. The only thing we didn't like was that the location is not where it is advertised. It is actually 4 miles from downtown Gatlinburg, not walking distance, so you do have to drive into town and pay for parking.

The Cabin from Hell

This was the worst rental experience of my life; it included a non working stove, a cutting board someone had cut meat on and stuck back in the cabinet, and no pots and pans for a cabin that was publicized as fit for 12. The couch cushions were 2 m&mā€™s high, yes 2 m&ms

Cabin was clean and in good condition. Road to get up to the cabin is very steep and winding but once youā€™re up there itā€™s very nice and peaceful.
