Big Bear is sure to become a family vacation favorite.

Goldilocks would love this place! All that’s missing is Mama Bear, but I am sure you will be bringing her along. Big Bear features 6 bedrooms! Six bedrooms create sleeping space for 18 happy campers! Of course, this won’t feel at all like camping. The spacious kitchen will ensure meals are a wonderful opportunity to share stories about today and develop plans for tomorrow. At some point, rest will be required. No problem. You can unwind with a favorite TV show, play a game of cards, or shoot a game of pool. Rest and get ready! Winter visitors will love the short walk to Timberline Mountain’s Dew Drop Trail. In every season Big Bear provides easy access to hiking and biking trails. It is a short drive to Blackwater Falls, Canaan Resort, Seneca Rocks and more. I know you are going to want to come back again and again.

The Cabin is huge. Plenty of Bathrooms and Bedrooms . Big back porch with chairs and Picnic tables. Our family reunion of 25 really enjoyed the stay

Family vacation

Property is beautiful and the Floorplan with both buildings worked great for our family of 18. Cleaning crew needs to pay more attention to details and the deck needs some repairs.

The property was phenomenal! We had everything we needed for a group of 19. The weather was not ideal, and the there was so much to do without being outside. My family absolutely loved this place, and would recommend many times over.

Good home for a secluded getaway

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We held a sibling reunion in August and found this home to be good for us. The kitchen is well stocked. We would have used the gas grill more if there had been more propane in the tank, or the extra tank had not been empty. We spent most of our time on the back deck. The outdoor fireplace would have been great also, if it had been functioning. Knowing the home is mostly used for winter rental, we overlooked the worn wood floors and well stained carpets. The chairs around the dining table were unglued making them rickety and a fall risk. None the less, some general maintenance is needed.

Wonderful Thanksgiving Stay

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location was beautiful-views from the expansive decks were amazing and we had the perfect amount of privacy. Our party of 20 had plenty of space to enjoy ourselves. The rain showerhead in the first floor full bathroom was a treat, we had everything needed (and more) in the kitchen to prepare Thanksgiving dinner, and the cart in the garage made loading and unloading the cars much easier! Canaan never disappoints and this home provided the backdrop for a wonderful family getaway where many memories were made.

Family Vacation

We really loved our stay at Big Bear Little Bear! The home was so comfortable with lots of space for everyone. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, caving, and enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery. Visitors should be warned however to bring their own food as it is really difficult to find a place to dine nearby and grocery stores are hard to find and not close. Most dining establishments are open only on weekends. And be prepared to pay in cash. Disruptions in internet seem to be frequent and can cause closings. Driving long distances on unimproved roads is necessary to reach the most spectacular views and hiking. But well worth it!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: What a wonderful stay we, a family of 18, had at "Big Bear, Little Bear” home rental in Davis, WV. It was very clean from the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas to the Hot Tub. Furnishings in living areas and bedrooms were very comfortable with plenty of room to stretch out and relax. The main dining table hosted many meals but the nightly card games were the best. Quick response to an empty propane tank saved our dinner plans, THANKS! Kitchen (Wolf stove)and game rooms(ping pong hit with grandkids) were well supplied. Outdoor areas very private, trees all around the property, great sitting areas to relax one with a gas fireplace another a hot tub. Yes we will come back to this wonderful home rental!

Amazing Property!!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We gathered 21 family members (three generations) to celebrate our father's 80th birthday. Big Bear Little Bear was absolutely perfect for our needs. We had plenty of space for everyone to spread out or gather together. Everyone loved the property and there was plenty of parking. The cabin is surrounded by trees, so it feels very private and peaceful, but it was a short drive to the town of Davis and Blackwater Falls State Park. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and pool table. We did a lot of cooking and found everything we needed in the kitchen. Having the separate apartment was much appreciated by my brother and sister-in-law when it was naptime for their 21-month-old son. We had an amazing time and hated to leave. Additionally, the rental agency was wonderful and the entire area is beautiful. Great experience!

Great family vacation spot!

We had a group of 9 adults and 7 kids ranging from 6 months - 12 years old. There was plenty of space between the two buildings, with beds to spare! The main house is where we spent the majority of the time. The eating area inside accommodated 8 people at the main table, four at the counter and three at a smaller side table. Most meals were consumed outside on the deck picnic tables. There were some minor inconveniences but nothing that really took away from the overall experience. Laundry facilities were excellent, with two washers/dryers in the main house and an additional washer/dryer in the garage apartment. Both houses were well equipped with everything we needed for meal prep and cooking, with the main house having two fridges and two dishwashers - we never ran out of space. The grounds were small - a very small front area of grass/rocks, and a slightly larger back area that was wooded. The only downside for our group was the lack of space for outdoor activities such as a badminton, volleyball, etc. But there is a nice park in Davis 20 minutes away where we were able to do the outdoor activities we had planned. The three car garage was available for use, and it was where we stored a lot of activity items to avoid clutter in the house. If you need the garage for parking, it obviously adds three spaces in addition to the driveway where we were able to fit a large truck, a minivan, two kayak trailers and three cars. We had an awesome stay!

Family Reunion 2024

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Big Bear/Little Bear was the perfect place for our extended family of 24! The photographs on the website looked exactly like the house. No surprises. The only part of the whole house that didn’t look good was the deck, furniture, and railings, which looked pretty rough and weathered. Everything in the house was clean and tidy with plenty of linens for everyone. There was space for little kids to nap, older kids to play games in the basement or rollerblade in the large garage, and adults to sit on the deck or in the hot tub all at the same time. We even all fit in the living room to play games together at night! The kitchen was fully stocked with more than we needed, and there was space for everyone to eat inside or out. I also loved that every floor had a bathroom for use besides the one in the master suites, so no one had to stand in line.The staff was very responsive to every question and request that I had. A couple doors down from their office is Mamma Mia’s where we ordered yummy Italian food for takeout one night. We also loved playing miniature golf and Almost Heaven Miniature Golf in town. We left so many things in the house and places in the town untried. We just didn’t have time for everything. I just hope that we can find a place this perfect for our next reunion, or I’d be just as happy to come back here again!

Love the mountains

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, we had a great family vacation. The check-in experience was very easy and the property managers, friendly, and welcoming. We found the property description accurate. A few mild criticisms or disappointments would be: finding leaves all over the walkways and right up to the doors, gives the appearance of uncared for property so made for poor initial impressions. My thought was, for the price we paid, having at least the majority of the leaves blown off those places would have made a much better impression. Then, there were a good number of cobwebs throughout the house, which does not leave a good impression. Then finally, the single beds on the main floor, where the kitchen is, have very sharp points and edges on their bedframe. My daughter-in-law tore clothing on them and cut a finger and because they had children sleeping on those beds, they had to cover them with towels to keep the children from getting hurt.

We had all the amenities needed for the week, and the management office had excellent communication. There were a few dusty areas, and the carpeting was badly stained, but otherwise we found it clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay so much that we've put Big Bear/Little Bear on our vacation rotation list.

Great Thanksgiving Stay!

Our family of 18 had a great time staying a this beautiful mountain house. There was plenty of room for all us and super comfortable. The kids had a ton of fun with the pool table, their own family room, bunk room and hottub! There were great walking paths and it was fun seeing the skiers on our walks enjoy the start of the season. We'd highly recommend this property for large families and we hope to be back!
