We have a large 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom modern country house in Catskill, New York. The drive typically takes 2.5 hours from Brooklyn. The house is a 15 minute drive to Hudson NY which is filled with restaurants and beautiful stores, art galleries, yoga studios and boutiques. 12 minutes to the Amtrak station in Hudson (train ride is exactly 2 hours from NYC). We are also 35 minutes from Hunter Mountain and Windham Ski areas and excellent hiking areas. Near Olana and Thomas Cole House. Our house is down a long driveway, not visible from the road and sits on 26 acres. It is on top of a big, hilly meadow overlooking a forever-wild forest/bird sanctuary. Excellent sledding right out the backdoor! Feeling of country seclusion and privacy but extremely convenient as it's only ½ mile from grocery stores, a diner, a bowling alley, Walgreens & CVS, an urgent care, a wine store, a coffee shop, a first run movie theater, a few cute stores, a good pizza place and Beerworld!

The house itself has a big open, airy floor plan and high ceilings. All of the rooms are very clean and spare. Pine floors with radiant heating. Very, very kid friendly (and adult friendly too). Big fully-equipped kitchen. All modern appliances: double oven, stainless fridge, big gas stove, granite counters. Seating for 6 on counter stools and kitchen table seats 4-6. Kitchen open to sunken living room with big picture window and a big stone fireplace (ideal for apres ski lounging). The dining room table with leaves can seat up to 12 people (with a little extension table can seat 14). There is a room devoted to a ping pong table with an armoire filled with lots of games and puzzles. A big sunroom with great views, a pull out sofa and table for 4. The crown jewel for parents is a giant finished basement, 2 bunk rooms (sleeps 8), big screen TV (55" high def plays DVDs, blu-ray) and playroom with foosball table, too many toys, art easel, air hockey, etc... Lots of childrens' and baby books. The playroom has a carpeted living area with comfy couch and chairs and plenty of room for playing and hanging out. There is bar/counter in playroom that seats 8 and a full bathroom. Although it is a basement it also has windows and access to the backyard because the house is built on a hill. There are 3 bedrooms with king sized beds and 1 bedroom with 2 full sized beds. The master bedroom is huge and the master bath has a big deep tub and glass shower with multiple jets. There is also a large art studio that is available for adult artists or older responsible kids/teens (with permission). We have excellent wi-fi. For spring/summer renters we have a very large stone patio and large heated pool. Basketball hoop, bikes and scooters, croquet, cornhole (beanbag toss), bocce etc... There is also a large front deck that we like to use almost exclusively for family dance parties. And a big grill. A nice retreat for one family or excellent place for groups. We regularly host 2 or 3 other families easily.
