Since this property is located in the mountain areas, the best way to get around is by car.

Access to Orcas Island is by ferry. Please ensure you check the ferry schedule in advance for departure times. It is highly recommended you reserve your spot on the ferry in advance. Please visit WSDOT to make your ferry reservation.

Please note and acknowledge that this property is currently listed for sale. We kindly request kind cooperation of all guests that wish to stay, as there maybe a possibility that a licensed realtor will need access to do a quick showing of the home during the stay. We will do our best to provide you advance notice and schedule at a convenient time for minimal disruption to your stay. We greatly prioritize the guest experience.

PETS:
We do allow dogs, we just ask that you please pick up after them and donā€™t allow them to chew on the furniture, and DO NOT let them sleep on the furniture. The backyard is not fully fenced in so you need to keep an eye on your pets.

This home has hosted many wonderful guests over the years. You may notice some normal signs of use, but we actively maintain the space to keep it comfortable, functional, and charming.

Payment / ID Verification Note
For reservations over $3,000, credit card payments arenā€™t accepted. Amounts above that must be paid through Zelle or another direct payment method. The name on the card must match the reservation and a valid ID, and any required selfie verification must clearly match the ID as well.
House Rules:
Please read and agree to all house rules before proceeding:

1. Provide the exact number of guests; unregistered guests are not allowed.
2. Failure to comply with the rules may result in the loss of your deposit or eviction.
3. This property offers self-check-in; please confirm your ability to check in as instructed.
4. Check-in time is at 4 pm, and check-out time is at 10 am. Early check-in or late check-out is available for a fee with prior approval.
5. Quiet hours are observed from 9 PM to 7 AM.
6. Packages or mail deliveries are not accepted at the property.
7. Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the house. Smoking is only allowed outside. A cleaning fee of up to $1350 will be charged for any detected smoking (cigarettes, vape, marijuana).
8. The use of narcotics is strictly prohibited.
9. The host is not liable for accidents or injuries that may occur during your stay.
10. Please be mindful of energy usage by turning off lights and closing windows, doors, and blinds when not in use.
11. You will be responsible for any damage to the rental property caused by you or your gathering during your stay. If anything is missing/damaged after your departure and the home was unsecured, you are responsible.
12. Open flames, including candles or fireworks, are not permitted.
13. Maintenance requests may take up to 24 hours to address.
14. Groups of 6 or more guests must inquire before making an instant booking.
15. Local guests must request approval before booking.
16. Unauthorized overstays beyond the check-out time will incur fees.
17. Additional charges may apply for excessive mess, trash, or damages caused during your stay.
18. Furniture should not be rearranged or items removed from the property.
19. An additional fee will be charged if the number of guests exceeds the reservation.
20. Lost items will incur a handling fee plus shipping costs.
21. No refunds will be provided for storms or if the property does not meet your expectations.
22. Tampering with cameras, detectors, or monitoring devices will result in a $500 fee.
23. Bugs may be present on the property, and no refunds will be provided for bug sightings.
24. Please treat the property with respect, as you would your own home. Use the code word `JOY` to confirm your agreement.

PETS

Pets are welcome with prior written approval. Pets must be disclosed in this agreement. The pet fee is $200 per pet per stay. Pet(s) need prior authorization and approval, there will be a per pet fee applied. Please inquire with any questions.

The property is amazing. Itā€™s a huge home with an amazing view!! The layout is weird with the bunkbed room only accessible through the king-size room. Most of the outlets in the kitchen do not work, the grill on the patio did not work. The oven did not work well. The refrigerator in the garage is disconnected and smells quite terrible (luckily the fridge and freezer in the kitchen are quite large). The beds were reasonably comfortable and the property is pet friendly. I have not had worse customer service with any other stay. Very quick responses when I was deciding to book the stay but in the week leading up to the stay, I could not get a response at all. Check-in required 3 phone calls only for them to say that the reason they never sent me check-in information was that I filled out the wrong form (I filled out and returned the one form they sent me). They never reached out to let me know that the reason they were not sending me check-in information, or the reason they were not responding to my messages was that I had not filled out the appropriate forms. I have never had such an unpleasant start to a stay. I probably would stay there again - the view really is amazing - but I hope to never have to interact with the property manager again.

Our stay unfortunately turned into a very unnecessarily stressful stay. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean and the view was over the top amazing. I organized this trip for my family... my siblings, their spouses and my mother. We have not been all together like this in over 10 years. We planned carefully and have had our reservation for over a year. We all flew to Seattle, rented cars, drove to Anacortes, and took a ferry to Orcas Island. We loved the island and our experiences there. My troubles began with a 3 to 4 hour ordeal to get the pass code to enter the property. We received verification the week before that we had paid all necessary fees and we were given the address, etc. But the night before our arrival, we had still not received the entrance code. The morning of our arrival, we spent 3 or 4 hours trying to get our management company to accept my drivers license photo for their last level of security before they would unlock the access to their entrance code. On Tuesday, the very next morning our host's management company texted me to tell me that they had scheduled a large event "some time ago" that overlapped with our reservation and we would need to leave Friday morning rather than Saturday morning. We explained how difficult that would be for our group of 15 to find other accommodations for that last day and that we did not want to leave early. They continued to harass us with new texts each morning for the next 3 days until they stopped.

Misrepresented Property

We would give a zero if possible. This home is so badly in need of attention. We spent more than half our vacation buying items that were broken or missing, cleaning, broken chairs, missing screens - bats flew in windows at night, filthy house, replacing septic system under and beside house throughout our stay with jackhammering, several worktrucks in ftiveway every day, near inoperable stovetop, metal window protectors broken blocking views and making house dark. Fun Short Stay

Really neat home that fueled lots of fun and even a ghost story or two from my kids. Great for families wanting to do reunions etc as multiple masters are there. Town and supplies are less than 10 minutes away but its very private. Beautiful star gazing

Vacation away before work is busy!

The house is just as pictured, with a little pond with koi in it as you walk up to the door. You feel like youā€™re walking into a castle! You have an adventure inside and outside the house - thereā€™s so many rooms to explore with the perfect views. Walk out on one of the 3 decks and you have amazing views that are never ending across the area. We saw eagles and hawks every day, we even had visits from the deer right next to the house. Relax in the hot tub or sauna and enjoy trails right on the property. Billiards table provided extra entertainment. If youā€™re looking for quiet, relaxing, amazing views - this is the place for you. Christopher was always quick to respond, if needed. Would love to visit again once work starts to slow down again! Thanks for having us!

We had an acceptable stay but the house did not live up to the description or expectations. The cleaning before we got there was cursory at best. Therewas even tiny glass shards all over the kitchen floor that we had to vacuum after a grand child cut her foot. It was dusty, there were dead bugs, mirrors were smeared, the backsplash behind the stovetop was greasy. Outside sauna Did not work. Chairs on the mastr deck are junk. MAin showerhead in second floor bath doesnt work. Two frozen chickens were in the freezer since who knows when. Had empty grill propane tank after two uses. No backups. Broken towel rack in bathroom. The hot tub was filmy with chemicals. We paid top dollar for this property and it did not deliver as promised

Family Reunion

We had a great time staying at this property. There were 13 of us and we had plenty of room to both eat and sleep. The large dining room was perfect for us to gather around. The view from this property is stunning and the house is so unique and grand. We would definitely stay here again.

Unusual property with plenty of room

Very interesting property with room for everyone. Lots of space to spread out so individual groups can do their own thing and everyone has a bedroom with a door that closes. The billiard room has its own fireplace which makes it a cozy place to relax. The dining room is super fun and kitchen has plenty of space to cook and prep. The surrounding woods include a stage and trails are a short distance away. We hosted a "murder mystery" one night and the house was perfect for it!

Enchanting chateau

Chateau Nighthawk is a beautiful and very well upkept property in the foothills of Mt. Constitution. The internet was a bit patchy, but otherwise the stay was perfect.

Christopher was great to work with. We had several questions with traveling there by ferry and he was able to help and accommodate us with our needs. The house was well beyond our expectations. Truly enjoyed the time together as a family.

Amazing views

The pictures did not even do this property justice. One of the best views of water and mountains. There was plenty of space for our small wedding and the pictures on the property turned out amazing.

Stunning view.

This property has an absolutely stunning view. It was roomy and spacious for all of us. The owner was very courteous and attentive. We would absolutely stay there again.

Chateau Nighthawk

We had a wonderful 4 day stay with our family including 4 little grandchildren age 14 mos to 6 years. The kids had a great time riding their bikes on the long driveway. The house is beautiful and the views are fantastic. Thank you for a great vacation retreat.

Needs Maintenance

The property is stunning, as advertised, and beautifully furnished. More than enough room and little hideaways for our group of 12 to spread out and have quiet areas to themselves. Plenty of linens and supplies, but you may have to look around for them. There are two laundry rooms. The kitchen is very large, several people can cook at once. A very nice gas grill is located just off the kitchen. We had some maintenance issues, but Christopher came over immediately to take care of them.

Amazing views, huge house

Itā€™s hard to undersell the views from Chateau Nighthawkā€”itā€™s an amazingly gorgeous place. It also easily slept 10, and the huge kitchen makes preparing big meals so easy. Thereā€™s a firepit nearby, and they all of the wood ready for us when we arrived. And maybe the best part is youā€™re just 15 minutes from both Eastsound and Moran State Park.

Overall an amazing experience

Outside of a few minor things that didn't work or were difficult to understand, it was an amazing stay. Great views, lots to do around the house, lots of kitchen supplies and gadgets!

Phenomenal view, great property

We held our wedding here and we all really enjoyed the property. There was something for everyone. Good counter space and cooking facilities for food prep. Game room with pool table for those looking for fun. Hot tub for relaxation. The views of the San Juan Islands and beyond are exceptional. The owners were very responsive to questions before and during our stay. We took advantage of the short drive from the property to Eastsound for errands and Moran State Park for recreation. Keep in mind that the drive back and forth to Eastsound is short but steep and narrow - it would be an uncomfortable bike ride. It was also very quiet/peaceful during our visit. We did not hear or see neighbors. Be aware that check-out is rather early (11am) and there are multiple tasks required on leaving (collecting linens/starting laundry, closing-up hot tub, trash, cleaning up barbecue, etc.) - this is clearly laid out in the owner's instructions, but important to keep in mind if you're catching the 12:05 ferry. Overall, this was a wonderful place for our ceremony and all of our guests mentioned what a great venue it was. There is even talk of a family reunion here in the future!

My friends and I go to San Juan islands every year. And this is by far the best house we stay at. The house has everything stunning views, bathtubs, game rooms, cinema room, no neightbors, two fire pits, personal gate, gosh, what don't they have?! Yes, it is a little pricey, but it is worth every penny! We are looking forward to staying at this house in the future. Thanks Toby.

Beautiful place - beautiful views

We recently stayed at Chateau Nighthawk for a family vacation. It was the perfect place for our large crew of 12, plenty of place to spread out and beds for everyone. The views are really incredible, pictures don't do it justice! I have stayed on the island several times, and this place had the most impressive views by far. Our favorite activity was just sitting on the large deck talking, drinking wine, and taking it all in. We saw several deer, a bald eagle, and many of the nighthawks the property was named for. Every evening as the sun was setting there would be several nighthawks flying around, and then they would make these dramatic dives and their wings make this loud booming sound at the bottom of the dive...I had never seen anything like that before, so it made for a fun nightly show. There are 3 decks, one with a hot tub, which also got a lot of use. The kitchen was well appointed with really any kind of gadget you could want. We did a lot of cooking while we were there and had everything we needed. There is even a standing mixer, and ninja blender in the large pantry. I will say the cook tops were a little tricky to operate, having to pump the buttons for the gas several times to make them stay lit. Also, a warning - use the vent anytime you cook anything - the smoke alarms are super touchy (and loud!) and went off the first couple mornings we were there. Even just cooking an egg set it off, so yeah, use the vent!! For those traveling with kids, there is a closet on the second level with a lot of children's books, games, and much to my 4 year old daughters delight, a large doll house with a basket full of things to decorate it. I believe there were some kids movies in the theater room as well. There is a bar/pool table room on the lower level which also had a lot of games for both kids and adults. Definite plus. It was pretty quick drive from the house into Eastsound, Moran State Park, and Rosario...but definitely not walkable. It's a pretty steep trek up Buck Mtn, but so worth it for the views! The owner was super responsive and easy to work with, answering any questions I had. He also sent some emails with helpful information on things to do, different tour companies, and ferry information. They also left a bottle of sparking wine in the master bathroom, which was nice touch! Overall we had a fantastic trip and would definitely stay again!
