We went this past weekend to enjoy the festival at Dickens in the Strand. Unfortunately due to the inconvenience caused by loud noise from the window A/C unit, other units, and the absence of proper curtains, we were unable to fulfill our two-night reservation. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can occur, but it was disappointing to encounter these issues during our stay. The window AC next to the bed made it difficult for us to get a good night sleep, and the absence of proper night curtains affected our overall comfort do to the light coming in. In addition, every single noise from next door was very disruptive. We decided to leave one night prior so we could get a good night sleep.

Great place for our weekend

I was one of the artists showing at ARToberFEST and decided to look for a place to stay, rather than driving back and forth. I was looking for an affordable place and all the motels/hotels nearby had reviews that got me worried. I decided to expand the search and found this place. It had good reviews and the low ratings were for things we weren’t worried about so we took a chance. Glad we did. I got a bit worried because I’ve never used VRBO before and had questions. I reached out to Albertino and he was super responsive, even when I texted him very late at night. Check-in was as easy as it can be. Instructions were very clear and I knew that if I had questions, which I didn’t, I could easily reach out. The place was clean and had just the basic needs, like soaps, shampoos, hair dryer, towels. I do wish there were kitchen towels, rather than using paper towels, which was almost depleted and there were no more rolls to be found. We were also glad there was aluminum foil because we brought our own food and used the oven. I really appreciated there was a kettle to boil water and was surprised about how good the microwave was, despite its size. One thing I didn’t like was the bed, which was sunk in the middle and the pillows were bulky for me. I’d suggest bringing your own pillows if you don’t like bulky ones. The AC units blew cold air and we weren’t bothered by how loud they could be. The best part was how close we were to the art festival. We’ll definitely stay here again.

Liked the quietness of the area. Didn't like the AC was a littte loud. Didn't like that there was smoke smell like previous people had smoked in there. Had to use febreeze. Didn't like that the handles in the shower were hard to close. Knob on the left wouldn't turn off until you figure that you have to turn both off at same time. Did like the rest of it. Was very nice. Would rent again.

In town for school

I’ve stayed at this house before and it’s always cleaned and a good neighborhood. I think it could be a little better stocked with things like kitchen towels, besides that, I always enjoy my time here.

The representative of the property was completely deceptive. The property had been broken into and trashy. It looked like a crack house. Never book this property!

You get what you give

There were two of us. We made the reservation for two. There were absolutely no glasses in the location. The place needs help - looks like it's under construction in front. The photos show one thing - and when you get there it is something quite different. If you fix it up (not with paper towels to keep out light / etc. in the bathroom- but a real fix up) it will be a real gem.. Right now, no.

This is my go-to on the island.

I am a student at UTMB and I come to Galveston every month or so for labs. This is the fourth time I’ve stayed at this location and it’s always consistent. It’s always very clean which I appreciate and I’ve gotten into a routine now so check in and check out is quite simple. The neighborhood is nice and quiet and it’s usually got all that I need.

What it said it was

I come to Galveston periodically for school and want something simple, affordable and safe. This checked all boxes. The bed was missing the comforter when I got there but after a message to the manager, a clean one was dropped of that afternoon. Simple mistake. Although, a written reply to my request would have been the professional thing to do. But at least the situation was resolved. There are a couple amenities missing like a sponge and pot holders. Other then that, good place to stay and short walk to the strand. I’ll use this booking again.

Single mom vacation stay with kiddo

The property was filled with everything we needed to cook and clean. The rental was clean and we felt like we were at home. The location is so close to the beach, the strand, and the port that we barely burned any gas. I can't wait to come back and the property owner was amazing with any issues I had. I highly recommend this place and hope to come back next summer.

Affordable accommodations and Great Location

This rental was clean, affordable and well located. It had great cooling -- a must in the recent heat! Parking was not a problem. The property manager was very quick to respond to our calls. Good to know if renting: As shown in the photos, bed is the corner off the room so it can only be accessed from one side. Bedroom does not have a door between it and the kitchen so it is not possible to close off one area from another.

First VRBO Stay

This was our first Vrbo stay and we were really delighted with the property. The apartment was very cute and my wife and I thought it was just the right place for us. Quiet and away from the bustle of Galveston, we really liked the historical ambiance.

We really enjoyed our stay. It was perfect for both my husband and I. It was cute and cozy. I wish we had access to the upstairs patio, but besides that it was nice. The home was clean and quiet. Will definitely stay again.

Definitely don’t recommend. Very first thing noticed was roaches

Not only was it difficult to get in the front door but the moment we walked in we noticed roaches. I can’t understand why I paid 300 for a two night stay for us to be staying with roaches. That’s a deal breaker for me. Also the rental didn’t cool down all the way because they only had window units. Still felt muggy and humid. I do appreciate us able to do a 1 hour early checkin we are grateful for that but not what I hope for when it was our anniversary vacation.
