Welcome to The Gannet Hatch. Unwind, unplug and relax in this modern day bach nestled in an old-school kiwi town. Sit in awe of the commanding views over Aotea Harbour, Mount Karioi, Gannet Island and beyond. Explore the community, beach and harbour by foot or don't leave the house at all. Full kitchen, BBQ, two living areas, and large deck are all yours to enjoy. A peaceful, perfect and picturesque getaway for couples.

Built in 2018, this house is equipped with all the basics you need for a getaway from the city. The walls are constructed from insulated solid concrete giving the house a grounded presence on those stormy days and stays cool on hot summer days. Attached garage for your convenience.

Two spacious bedrooms, one queen, one double. Two lounges, large tv with freeview, dvd player. Dish-drawer, washing machine.

The kitchen has a full range of pots, pans, plates, bowls, glasses, utensils etc and we provide salt, pepper and oil for guest use. The beds will be made prior to your arrival with fresh linen and bath towels are included. Please don’t take the bath towels onto the beach. Soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash is provided in the bathrooms.

The Gannet Hatch is equipped with high speed satellite Starlink internet WiFi. For those guests who want an off-grid experience, WiFi can be disabled for your stay upon request.

Gannet Nest bliss

It is a beautiful property, well-appointed and comfortable. Has the most amazing views.Beds and linen are comfortable Bathrooms and water pressure are very goodThe kitchen is well stocked with utensils Needs a bit of a spring clean, floors, walls, and windows, with a few cobwebs, dead flies, etc. Nothing too diety but noticeable.

Perfect spot

Enjoyed our stay at Aotea Harbour. House was well equipped with everything you need. Had a peaceful, relaxing stay, which was just what we needed, nobody around. Had good communication with Host Taylor and when we were due to leave, cleaning lady. Thank you all for a great stay.

Our stay in Aotea

This was a great place to chill out, with a wonderful outlook over Aotea Harbour and very quiet at this time of year (end April). Neat and clean with very a well equipped kitchen. It was comfortable for our stay but expect it could get very hot in summer, and be cold in winter (only one small panel heater for a large space).

Comfort and views

This place is very comfortable even in winter. We enjoyed the constant changing show put on by nature and viewed through the large double glazed windows. This host is most generous and the place was in perfect order.

Nice home and good location

Very nice home and good location nice and quite which is nice for a get away only negative i guess if u want to call it that was maybe some form of cooling in bedroom eg maybe a fàn as was really hot but other then that was a good stay and would stay again next time we dont have the kids 😀

It is a grear spot and a very nice house however it would be nice to know how remote it is so that we could have got some supplies before we headed to stay. Kahwai had only a small convenience store and other dining options were closed. Expedia distance to Waitomo caves has it listed as 33km when it was 77km away.

Peace and quiet

Although it rained all weekend we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We came in search of peace and quiet and that is certainly what we found. A lovely property in a lovely spot - ideal for getting away from the daily grind!

Birds eye view

The view and location are spectacular with wide panoramic coastal vistas. The house was well appointed, double glazed for noise and added warmth of a wall heater which was more than enough for the whole house. The kitchen had a great basic pantry and cookware.. I do have some small suggestions to enhance the overall stay- could the microwave be moved to the cubby nearest the kitchen rather than trekking down the corridor past the toilet? 4 towels are supplied -2 per couple -but there are only 3 hanging hooks in the bathroom. A heated towel rail would be a welcome addition. although we knew the bed sizes as clearly advertised we think it would easily accommodate a king in the bigger bedroom and shift the queen to the smaller bedroom. We are both 6ft + and struggled- ultimately sleeping in separate bedrooms... our error in assuming we could both fit a queen! these are suggestions NOT criticisms as we really enjoyed being off-grid and taking in all that Kawhia has to offer. On a side note: disappointed that the cafe and Fish & Chip shop are closed on a Tuesday & Wednesday but a kindly local advised the mostly unsealed road that shortcuts to Raglan and that was a scenery packed drive! We would stay again and thank the hosts for the cleanliness and warmth of this beautifully positioned home.

Private and Comfortable

Everything you need, comfortable, great views. Neighbors are not too close and the large windows only looks towards sea/harbor views. The polished concrete floor soaks up heat and holds it through the night. Just don't open the windows upstairs too much or the heat will escape. We really enjoyed our stay and will book here again!
