  • Good for the money - great view and location

"Nice set up, light and bright with big windows and wooded view outside. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well appointed and living and dining space were roomy. Not fancy, no TV, DVD player did not work but, this place worked well for us. With that said, there were a few things that needed attention. There were wet linens left in the washing machine. We were instructed to start a load of sheets when we departed but there was no laundry soap, nor was there dishwasher soap. The deck space was very nice except it was in need of maintenance. There were loose boards, lawn chair and hammock were on their last string. The kitchen cabinet doors were in need of a good wipe down. With that said, we did enjoy our time there. Inquiries were answered in a timely manner, as was the deposit check returned. We also met the friendly St Bernard neighbor and saw a few deer!"

  • Beautiful tower in a beautiful town

"This is a really special place and was the highlight of our honeymoon in Italy! The apartment, or "the castle" as we fondly called it, is incredible! It comes with it's own private tower which is perfect for enjoying prosecco, watching the sunset, and generally enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of Montefollonico! The apartment is really spacious, and extremely comfortable! You will feel at home during the stay! We knew we wanted to stay in this area, but weren't too familiar with Montefollonico. We felt so lucky picked this place, as it was so friendly, quiet, and beautiful, while still having nice amenities like a small grocery store and lots of great restaurants. The owners of the tower, John and Wendy were so helpful in making our stay extra special! Wendy gave us some great recommendations for cooking classes at La Chiusa and La Botte Piensa (do both if you can!), and John gave us some great photo walks to explore the Tuscan countryside. They also gave us lots of tips for enjoying the area, from wine to restaurants to cheese recommendations! It really makes a difference having a local share all their insider tips, and John and Wendy have lots of tips to share for whatever you're interested in! I highly recommend this place: Montefollonico is quaint, the people were lovely, food was great, scenery amazing, and the tower was fantastic! Stay for at least four days, or a week plus if you have the time!"

  • Great property & location for the ultimate in family relaxation

"Sunrise Cottage is unlike any other property we've ever a great way! I can't possibly say enough about the perfect location with the beach accessibility, wonderful views of islands & wildlife, and the close proximity to downtown Rockland & Camden for dining out. Be sure to check out Cafe Miranda for some super fresh & funky food! We were able to launch our kayaks easily from the beach and had nightly campfires in the fire pit overlooking the ocean. Even my husband (who has a slightly tough time relaxing) was able to unwind & enjoy the peaceful location & area. We kayaked over to Ash Island on three occasions and successfully hunted for sea glass. Having the 3 separate sleeping quarters was convenient for our extended family & teenagers--not to mention the Xbox 360 in the bunk house. The owner was accessible, friendly & proactive in providing great service. Highly recommended retreat and we'll surely be back."

  • Excellent facility, clean, well equipped modern condo, great location

"My husband and I just returned from a week in Maui, we had a wonderful trip staying at Honua Kai. The condo was everything we hoped for. It was very clean, well appointed, modern, quiet, and had all the extras that made our trip so easy and fun. The resort itself was pretty busy, lots of toddlers, young couples with children. As we were older travelers we were a little wary but it turned out to be fine. We spent most of our time on the beach or the grassy area outside the pool area. The pools are on the small side but there are a number of them and very popular with the toddlers. The condo came equipped with beach chairs, beach towels, a portable cooler and toys if needed. There was a food market close by, we cooked in several nights. The resort location was good, we hit a different beach every day and then went back to the resort for afternoon cocktails. The resort restaurant and bar was very nice, food is good. The beach was nice, not great for snorkeling, but swimming was fine. Staff was friendly and the owner / property manager was very easy to work with. I would definitely stay here again. This was my second Maui trip and we really enjoyed the Honua Kai condo."
