  • Peaceful, rustic, and perfect!

"My wife (who awesomely found and secured the rental) and I and 2 of our children (teenagers) drove to Nova Scotia from our home in Wisconsin, seeing many things on a busy trip out, while also looking forward to the expected peacefulness of Saltbrook. We weren't disappointed! Saltbrook and it's beach were exactly what was represented by the owners. In fact, in my mind, the owners went above and beyond, as there were wildfires in the region of the cottage, which Maria notified my wife of shortly before we left, She even kept us updated while we were on the road, in case of closures or a need to possibly make an alternate arrangement. Thankfully, there were no issues. We relaxed at the house for 3 of the days of our stay, reading and relaxing at the edge of the "beach" and watching a few seals and eagles, and the amazing tide - flowing by hundreds of feet higher and lower on the beach as it went in and out of the Bay of Fundy. It must be seen to be fully appreciated. The lantern lit graveyard tour at Ft Anne is not to be missed, and we were lucky enough to experience a whale watching excursion from Westport - beyond Digby - on what we were told was one of the best excursions of their season, with humpback whales next to the boat! Annapolis Royal was fun to explore, and our son discovered the wonders of the Canadian "delicacy" of poutin" during our stay. A most excellent time was had by all!"

"Wonderful cottage and very roomy for our crowd. Kitchen is roomy and the view to the water is great. everything is as stated wifi worked great. It warmed up while we were there so no need to use wood burning stove. Kitchen has plenty of dishes and pots and pans The dogs made friends with Charlie and they had fun too !! We arrived in evening to low tide and a full harvest moon which made for an awesome view of the bay of fundy !! Would come back here again !!!!! Hosts were very nice and always available ! Thankyou again for a great stay !!"

  • Beyond our expectations

"We arrived with my parents, our son and infant daughter, and our nephews not quite knowing what to expect as it was a new rental. We were pleasantly surprised by the size and cleanliness of this rental. There was more than enough room! The cottage has obviously been around for a good amount of time but has been well loved, well-maintained and updated in the necessary areas. There is new carpet throughout, a new master ensuite and the large, well supplied kitchen came in handy. You literally only need to show up with your clothes and food! Everything necessary for cooking and baking is there. Towels, sheets and blankets are also supplied. The games and fireplace became fan favourites and the views were stunning. Zone heating in each room during the damp, rainy nights also made it extremely comfortable. The cottage is very private and secluded...perfect for our brood and the lady who the owners have overseeing the cottage, Irene, was very eager to please and helpful. The only downfall was that the dock was in need of some repair, but will be completed. We were still able to fish from the property and Irene allowed for us to launch the boat, and offered to allow us to take the kids swimming, from her side. We have already scheduled another week in August and are looking at booking two weeks for next summer. Would be easy to spend a whole summer there. We were more than happy with this find!"

  • Beachfront Bliss!

"Our family of 8 had an amazing 4 night, Fall stay at this cottage. We enjoyed walking across the street to the beach, looking out the window and watching the waves, using it as a base for the Cabot Trail, and walking into the small town of Port Hood to the Fishermen's CoOp, tavern, and grocery store. The real highlight for our family was walking to the Sports Center for a Cape Breton West Islanders game (just stop in at the center and ask if any games are scheduled) and then walking home from it on the beach. This place feels immediately like home. Access to the home and owner communication were easy! Great place! Stay here!"
