  • Between excellent and admirable

"There is much to enjoy at Serenata, and much to admire. Fist the location: above Island Harbour in a completely serene site. No other view from the terrace than trees in the garden and the native vegetation beyond that, then the ocean: no other noise than the distant rollers on the reef, the rustling palms in the (sometimes strong) wind, and the turtle doves that wake you in the morning. The neighbours to the west were never there during our month's stay, and those to the east were scrupulously quiet. You will grow to admire the layout of Serenata, the well-kept colourful garden that Wilson keeps watered. I particularly recommend a good look at the dry stone wall that encloses it, artfully done in the local manner of two-tone stones . One of the best in the island. The inside is quite spare, almost ascetic in its immaculate white, built to catch and keep the light. The floor of the great room is white tile, and some original art (not too much; you will long remember the depiction of a children's model sailboat race by Wemes that greets you on the left-hand wall; see if you can find the original of the houses that she grouped above the children) takes advantage of those white walls. The living room furniture is rattan, comfortable and complete, down to the stand alone glass top dining table. One small table and a desk, three armchairs: no other furniture. Complete, but nothing superfluous. Then there is the gallery/verandah. 60 feet of arches open to the North and to the inspection of birds in search of your breakfast crumbs (feeding them is probably a mistake, and expose all that lovely white paint to regrettable accidents). The floor is the same tile as the inside: extreme caution after rain: it becomes very slippery, and running toddlers risk serious injury. But you will not find a more serene spot than one of the four lounge chairs. The property's maintenance is excellent. There is not one flaw in the vast amount of screening necessary for the enormous amount of windows (bay windows and windows along the entire gallery). There was not a mark on any of the walls, any of the off-white counters. For places like Serenata, my wife and I are thankful. The owners (Maddeline and Rocco are a phone call away (even in the middle of the night when, left in a completely dark island by a power interruption, we had to ask where the flashlight was), and prompt to answer questions and fix problems. They were careful not to intrude,, but very helpful nonetheless."

  • Great Villa for family

"Our family of four (parents plus two older sons) stayed at Little Palm for six nights. This was a perfect place for us. Ample room, fairly private, adequately stocked kitchen, very clean throughout and a well maintained private pool. Each bedroom has its own full bathroom. There is AC in each of the bedrooms that helped at night. In the upstairs where the living room and kitchen are AC was not needed because of the steady winds. We adjusted the temperature by simply opening or closing the sliding door. The view is better than the pictures and the location was perfect. We rented a vehicle from Andys. Renting a vehicle is an absolute must. Exploring the island, going to restaurants or simply going to the grocery store are a little ways away. RENT A VEHICLE. The bakery at the end of the road is a great way to start your day. You can walk or drive there. The best part of the house is the man who watches the house for the owner. His name is Isaiah and he was great. He met us at the house, went over the basics and also left us a phone to use so we would not have to use ours. He came back a few times for different things. He also spent time with us discussing the history of the island, his family history and things we could do. He is a valuable asset to the owner."

  • Stunning view, comfy house

"Our group of 5 adults spent a delightful 9 days in January at JEMS. The view is spectacular, the location private, the house is well-kept and the staff (house-cleaning, pool maintenance and yard work) were all professional, pleasant and very accommodating. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed in the way of utensils, pots & pans, dishes and glasses. Located near Island Harbor, a delightful part of the island, we frequently walked to nearby Le Bon Pain for freshly made croissants, quiches and bread. We had a few (minor) complaints: the promised complimentary snacks and breakfast items for our first day were not there when we arrived (but arrived within the hour); the lounge chairs near the pool were worn and two of the four ripped through during our stay; two of the three toilets stopped working (but were repaired upon request) and we would have loved to have use of a pool skimmer (but that was not an option, and the pool maintenance staff came regularly). We recommend JEMS to those for whom a stunning view and well-sited pool are key, but who aren't looking for ultra-luxury, as this comfortable home has all of the basics and then some. Delightful birds entertained us and the occasional goat bleating in the distance were welcome, less so the neighbors barking dogs (who were fenced). It really was a delightful trip."

  • Amazing Views!!

"We have stayed here many times over the years and always loved it. This time we stayed in the 1 bedroom unit for 9 nights. It was supposed to be 10 but our AA flights were delayed out of Boston and we had to spend the first night at a hotel on St Martin...ugh!! Anyways--the highlights of K's Kove for us are-- the amazing hostess Gratel, the location with its proximity to nice quiet walks, the friendly people of Island Harbor and the Hilltop Baptist church across the street, and above all the amazing sea views from the balcony!"
