  • Beautiful, scenic, serene condo with a good layout

"We loved this condo. The beds are very comfortable, the view from the patio is stunning, the kitchen is small but functional. It is a gated community so we felt very safe. We enjoyed sitting by the pool and swimming in it, as well as using the private cooling tub on the patio. We especially liked that we could walk to the nearby beach (Cas en Bas, 10-15 minute walk) to hike and watch the horseback riders, kiteboarders, and windsurfers (rental is available but we chose not to do so). Shady areas are available there. It is easy hiking in both directions and allowed for spectacular views and access to two secluded beaches. Marjorie’s is a restaurant serving local cuisine right there along the beach. This condo is also close to Pigeon Island and we liked it so much we spent two days there. You can hike there also and beach chairs rent for only $3.00. Their restaurant is inexpensive and serves delicious Roti’s. We recommend hiring taxis rather than driving if you're from the U.S. since they drive on the opposite side of the road. Taxi services are readily available, very accommodating, and did not cost more than a rental would have cost. Be sure it is a calm day if you're going to take a water taxi ride to the South side of the island. We would have given a 4 ½ star rating if that was allowed as the condo is showing a little wear and tear but nothing that affected our enjoyment of it. We recommend staying here and would stay here again if we ever return to St. Lucia. We might stay one night in Soufriere though because it is a long drive to get to those tourist spots. The weather seemed better on the North side of the island so the bulk of our stay would be at this condo. Note: I didn't realize more info was provided in the HomeAway/VRBO app that I could have downloaded right after booking. Kevin answered many questions that I would have been able to find on my own. Thank you Kevin! Debbie was great to work with also. This condo is an excellent value!"

  • Beautiful but noisy by night

"We spend 5 days at the Mango cottage in August 2016. I have to say the cottage is nice, especially for a couple. It would be OK for a couple with 2 children but certainly not ideal for 4 adults. The kitchen is very small, the living room is small but there is enough space for 2 children to sleep in. The main bedroom and bathroom are perfect. The landscaping: Wow, this is the highlight. The plunge pool is perfect for hot days. Everything is kept pristine on the surrounding part. However, as everything seems to be a garden of Eden, you better bring a good set of hear plugs. When day turns to dusk and you thought locusts would rule the world, it’s not necessarily the case. On Saturday, Sunday and Monday that we were there, a primal battle between locusts, karaoke and neighbours guard dogs was happening until 2 or 3AM as far as the music was concerned. I have to say the music (not the dogs) was pretty quiet Tuesday and Wednesday nights. My last point would be on Chantal. Chantal is the very nice and low key house keeper that will come almost every day to do the cleaning and your laundry. Having Chantal there every day is like having a 5 star service facility. Her big thing is that she will offer to cook you a real creole dinner. First, make sure you make it happen at the beginning of your stay there because she will cook you 3 meals worth. The food was very good and I think as local as it can get. There are just 2 small problems with this. First, as almost every dining-out option in Rodney Bay, the dinner she will cook will also be up there in price. I mean on the level of the priciest Rodney Bay restaurants. To get a cooked meal from Chantal will cost you 50$US per person of ingredient and 25$US per person for her cooking fees. So, for a couple, it was 150$US for the dinner. The problem with this is the cost of ingredient she charges. There is absolutely no way the dinner we had cost 100$US of ingredients (local fruits, local vegetables and local fish). Even by Rodney Bay supermarket standard, it is worth 30$US. So, me and my wife were expecting 100$US of ingredients in our plates and that was not the case. Again, don’t get me wrong, the service charge is fine by me (could be higher even). The problem is that if you tell me you need 100$US for the ingredients, I expect 100$US worth of ingredients. We ended up telling ourselves that the 70$US of ingredients we did not get in our plate was a very nice tip for the cleaning and laundry she did for us."

  • Excellent

"If you are looking for a quiet place where you can leave your doors open even at night. That's minutes away from shopping and socializing and a short walk from a quiet shady beach. Big beautiful yard and staff that make sure that you are happy and comfortable. Then this is the place for you. The pool is always the right temperature even early in the morning. The yard is very nice and well groomed. Brand new kitchen and bath with modern fixtures and fittings. Fully equip. kitchen we were able to make cakes, fry chicken, daily coffee, toast etc. Bedrooms have lots of closet space and the upstairs bedrooms all have doors into the porch, as well as air condition. The floors are real wood floors they are b-e-a-u-ti-ful and they feel great under your feet. The owner is very professional kind and accommodating. The staff was friendly and always willing to help. St Lucian's are very hospitable people and the island is not very big so no where is far in St Lucia. My only regret is that we could not stay longer. Being at that villa reminded me of my happiest days as a youth growing up. My kids already ask if we can come back next summer."

  • The most wonderful position on St Lucia.

"From the moment you arrive you know you are somewhere very special. From each of the 4 bedrooms there is a different vista. Each room has its own unique view and outside patio to enjoy your own private space. The housekeeper Katherine was lovely and looked after 8of us with great care. The standard of housekeeping was excellent. The grounds are vast and provide the house with discreet protection from the world at large. Yes there were the few things that did not work as they should,e.g., the jacuzzi did not work , but nothing marred a wonderful holiday in an outstanding surroudings. Thank you for having the 47 ers!"
