  • A Perfect Kind of Paradise

"Villas Bougainville was just the perfect place for our family vacation on Huahine. The dock (right across the street) was a neat place to hangout during sunset and watch the setting sun hit the surrounding mountains and coconut trees to create this vibrant orange colors. Although VB (Maroe Bay) is about a ten minute drive from Fare (main town), the cars made transportation easy...boats were another convenient way to explore the laid-back island. Most of all, thank you to Raphael who made our stay so enjoyable. The airport greeting (and departure) were such extra special touches of his warm hospitality. The warm welcoming (he gives lots of useful island info) made us feel at home and he ensured we were taken cared of during our stay. If we had a concern with the house (ie. kitchen stove propane ran out) he addressed it immediately. What a bonus to have him around...mahalo! We'll always remember our time there and hope to be back in the future. 'A hui hou (until we meet again)."

  • Awsome house, incredible location, excellent host

"Our 3-day stay at Josh's house was the icing on the cake for our trip. The house is located in a beautiful, tranquil area. Even though there are some neighbors nearby, you feel you are all alone in such a great garden, full of exuberant plants and fruit trees - we tried several tropical fruits -, with the lush mountains right at the back. It takes a 5-10 minute walk to get to the beach – and the views are just marvelous. The house in itself is ample and the internal patio with the tree in the middle is just awesome. The bedrooms were large enough and the beds comfortable. The kitchen has all you need to prepare your meals – even some haute cuisine ingredients! One highlight is the huge veranda, were we had dinner every day while hearing the waves smashing on the reef. The youngster somehow regretted that the Internet wasn’t working those days – much to the adults’ delight –, but we were told this was temporary, so hopefully it is already up and running again for those who need it. All in all, we highly recommend this house on your visit to Tehaupoo. Thank you, Josh for your kindness and readiness to answer all our questions, and for your clear instructions. See ya next time!"

  • Proximity to lagoon and great kayaking

"We stayed for 8 days. This house is well-equipped for a family or small group of friends. Everything you need for cooking, relaxing, etc.. It is a short kayak to Les Tipaniers beach and restaurant or short drive/ bike ride to Le Petit Village where there are a few touristy shops and eateries, and also the Intercontinental is close by if you want to go for a special meal or to watch Polynesian dancing. You can also walk to a small shop just outside the entrance to the neighbourhood (Magasin Tiahura), which has fresh baguettes twice a day, a small range of items, and very friendly and helpful owners. The neighbourhood was not as luxurious as we expected, and some work was being done on the house which made the first impression a bit scruffy. However, the house was bigger than we expected and comfortable. If you are not interested in making the most of the kayaks, I'm not sure if this would be the house for you, as for us that is what made it special. So wonderful to be able to kayak out to the lagoon and swim with sharks and rays! In other respects the house feels a bit cut off. It is in a small, sleepy residential neighbourhood. We could not find the walking track to the lagoon that is featured on the house info, but did see a similar looking track which had been gated - I wonder if that was it? Perhaps the owner can clarify. You will also need to be prepared with earplugs for the roosters and the sound of the wind blowing through the thatch roof. We really wanted to sleep upstairs (beautiful Polynesian/ Robinson Crusoe style room) but even with earplugs found it too noisy if there was any wind (plus the roosters!). The mosquito nets over the beds were useful and necessary. Our daughter loved her 'princess bed' with nets hanging over her. All the beds were really comfortable too. Everything worked fine in the bathrooms and kitchen and the dining/kitchen area was really cute. The garden area was pretty, and we enjoyed spending time on the patio area. It just needs to be tidied up at the front where there was a pile of rocks and building material. The wifi and internet connection worked great and was really handy. Overall we had a really enjoyable stay."
