  • Breathtaking

"Even for a person who has lived most of my life on the coast, staying at the Abalone Cottage was an incredibly experience. To have the Pacific Ocean as part of the front yard is so seldom experienced that it was all we could do to tear ourselves away from the view to do anything else. The cottage is immaculately maintained both inside and out, no small task for a home on the water. The furniture is extremely comfortable, the kitchen had everything I could possibly need, the linens were wonderful, more hidden in plain sight storage space was discovered every day, lanterns and flashlights were conveniently placed should we lose power (we didn't) and wood available should we want to make a fire. The showers were great, the bathroom spotless, plenty of extra towels for shower or the beach and even an apartment size washer/dryer was provided. There is nothing more we could have asked for. We were in love and truly hope to return next year."

  • Comfortable, spacious home

"What a great retreat from everyday bustle! In a quiet neighborhood where houses aren't packed together, you have great views and just the occasional sound of an airplane heading into the airport. The sunset views are fantastic and brings a wonderful light into all the west facing windows. We were traveling with our twin 4 year old girls and having the kitchen downstairs to retreat to every morning to drink my tea was lovely. The beds were quite comfy and the bedrooms nice sized. The only negative for me was the fact that the guest bedroom is accessible mainly via a semi enclosed balcony shared with the master bedroom (or directly from outside, but I don't know if you could open the french doors from the outside - never tried it). I wouldn't suggest this location for 2 couples traveling together, as the only bathroom is off the master, so again any traffic for it would have to be through the master bedroom. The entertainment center had a strong sound system, and the washer and dryer very handy (again, see twin 4 year olds). Having one's own garage is a nice perk as well. Philippe was very accessible via text when needed, but otherwise hands off - leaving us to feel like we were using our own home."

  • Amazing Experience!

"All I can say is WOW! From the moment you pull into the driveway, walk through the front door, and then step foot onto your private bluff overlooking the waves crashing on the rocks in front of you, you've said WOW about 10 times. My husband and I surprised my parents and my sister and brother-in-law with a trip up to Carmel early this year (2/12-2/15), and Pelican Cove made a special place even more so for all of us. My family grew up in NorCal, but we now all live in SoCal, so we miss how easy it used to be to pop on over to Carmel for the day or weekend and soak in it's beauty. I have many fond memories with my family there, and it's a special place for my parents as they honeymooned there. Well, thanks to our wonderful stay at the beautiful Pelican Cove, we have yet another VERY special memory that my entire family can share in. The home is STUNNING and was so very accommodating for the 6 of us. There's more than enough room for everyone, and you're mesmerized by the water crashing on the rocks with every room you enter. We spent one of the nights in and cooked, and had everything we needed to enjoy our evening. Especially when we all cozied up to the gorgeous fireplace with a night cap. I can only hope we get the opportunity to stay again as I'd love to bring my family back with my in-laws as well. Thank you for sharing such a special place."
