  • Wonderful place for family to renew relationships

"We came for our fourth sons wedding. Our other kids, their spouses, 6 grandchildren under 8 and a babysitter met us here. The house was perfect for everyone! Grandma and Grandpa got one of the smaller rooms so the kids with grand-kids could have room to spread out. The kitchen and adjacent dining were just right to fit everyone for meals. The appliances are fairly new, the range/stove handled our big meals. The kids really enjoyed hanging out in the large hot tub at the end of the day. It was a great gathering place for our son and his groomsmen and girlfriends who were staying at another home near by. There was lots for the grandchildren to explore outdoors. They needed supervision because the woods are naturally wild. The owners had the house well stocked with plenty of bedding an towel's. There was even some condiments left over that we used. My wife and I were very blessed to be able to enjoy our time with our family in beautiful surroundings! Thanks David and Patti"

  • Comfortable and well equipped

"We met Michael at check in and he explained everything, was welcoming, and warm with a great sense of humour. I arrived with 3 teenagers and were staying in Carmel for a family wedding so this house was perfect. We explored the area and had lots of space to get ready. It is more spacious than the photos indicate. The beds are comfortable, and the house is really clean. The kitchen is very well equipped. It quickly felt like home and was a great home base. The location is wonderful, walking distance to downtown, and easy access to Hwy 1. I would definitely stay here again, and appreciated the quiet, clean and relaxed space."

  • Sanctuary Cottage Salvaged Our Vacation

"We booked Sanctuary Cottage for a week from July 23rd through July 30 to celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary and to attend the Carmel-by-the Sea Bach Festival. Unfortunately, the devastating nearby Soberanes-Big Sur Fire started the day before we arrived. When we left on the 30th, it had grown to the largest wildfire in the US with over 5000 fire fighting personnel. The sun was obscured by smoke and ash and the air was rated unhealthy. We stayed inside the cottage as much as possible from Wednesday on. It is a tribute to the hosting abilities of Beverly and Ed Sigourney and the amenities and comfort of the tastefully renovated cottage that we stayed the full week. They are more like old-school inn keepers than short-term landlords. They take the care and safety of their guests seriously and invite them to share and enjoy their beautiful property with them. Beverly gave us several websites to follow the fire's progress and any evacuation orders and even washed the ashes off our car when we left. We also enjoyed having interesting conversations with them as well as the companionship of their two dogs. Although it was not the vacation we envisioned, we enjoyed our week at the Sanctuary and hope to return when conditions are more normal."

  • Amazing Experience!

"All I can say is WOW! From the moment you pull into the driveway, walk through the front door, and then step foot onto your private bluff overlooking the waves crashing on the rocks in front of you, you've said WOW about 10 times. My husband and I surprised my parents and my sister and brother-in-law with a trip up to Carmel early this year (2/12-2/15), and Pelican Cove made a special place even more so for all of us. My family grew up in NorCal, but we now all live in SoCal, so we miss how easy it used to be to pop on over to Carmel for the day or weekend and soak in it's beauty. I have many fond memories with my family there, and it's a special place for my parents as they honeymooned there. Well, thanks to our wonderful stay at the beautiful Pelican Cove, we have yet another VERY special memory that my entire family can share in. The home is STUNNING and was so very accommodating for the 6 of us. There's more than enough room for everyone, and you're mesmerized by the water crashing on the rocks with every room you enter. We spent one of the nights in and cooked, and had everything we needed to enjoy our evening. Especially when we all cozied up to the gorgeous fireplace with a night cap. I can only hope we get the opportunity to stay again as I'd love to bring my family back with my in-laws as well. Thank you for sharing such a special place."
