  • Gorgeous and Quaint

"It's Carmel so you can't go wrong! We loved this quaint and GORGEOUS cottage. The views are grand and it's perfectly located in the heart of Carmel Highlands. We have been to Carmel a few times and have always stayed closer to town but this time we wanted our own space to soak up the views and enjoy the tranquility. We enjoyed one day at Lobos point ( just a few miles away), the town square ( a few more miles) and then drove to Big Sur one day- heaven. Thanks to owners for sharing this gorgeous property. It is a slice of heaven and we would recommend it! Sunrise to sunset is just breathtaking."

  • Beautiful, comfortable, relaxed home away from home

"We came here as a family with our 10 months old son, our parents and our brother and sister in law, 7 people in total (including the baby). The house is a wonderful and rustic cabin (with all the modern comforts) near Carmel and the start of the windy drive down the 1 to Big Sur. It's very close to the Hyatt Carmel Highlands, and all the amenities / restaurants it has to offer. Despite the convenience, the house it self was secluded with beautiful partial views to the water and surrounded by greenery. The cabin it self clean, comfortable and has a lot of character. The instructions were simple, and the owners Karen and Patrick left us a welcome baskets and a well stocked fridge / pantry / kitchen. We felt really at home, relaxed and will definitely try to be back in the future! Thank you Karen and Patrick for letting us enjoy your beautiful home."

"We are always apprehensive when booking a vacation rental online from photos however the Whaler's Cottage was everything we could have asked for. The night before our arrival we stayed at Post Ranch which has always been one of our favorite getaways however as much as we loved Post the Cottage was so enchanting from the time we drove down the private road. The house is immaculate. I must say I am a cootie freak and I was perfectly at ease and comfortable in the home. The beds and linens were super comfortable..the kitchen and baths well equipped. We were even able to order fire wood waiting for us so we had the fireplace going every day. What is really amazing however is the location. Extremely private in a large fenced property with two other houses right on the beach. The views out every window and the sound of the waves were mesmerizing. To be able to step out your door and take a stroll on the beach is well worth the rental cost. There is also a public walkway that starts next to the property that leads along the beach right to the center of Carmel which we absolutely loved. Obviously we can't say enough about what this family has preserved generation to generation and we felt privileged to be allowed to share it even for a few days. We will definitely be returning as soon as we can! Date of arrival November 26, 2016"

  • Magnificent views!

"Couldn't ask for a better location! One of the most scenic spots on the beautiful California coast. Private and nestled in the woods yet close to extraordinary hiking at Los Lobos state park, and conveniently near to shops, markets and restaurants of Carmel by the sea. Our group of 9 relaxed and appreciated this wonderful home and its spectacular surroundings."
