  • Great indoor outdoor living space

"My young family and I had the pleasure of staying at this lovely home in Santa Barbara. The name is fitting, it is like a retreat on the edge of downtown toward upper state. We have two small girls who immediately fell in love with the back yard and the pool. The yard is beautifully landscaped and the pool is a perfect size for kids with an excellent safely cover. The owner was extremely accommodating with our last minute travel request and was very responsive to any questions we had. The weather in Santa Barbara lends itself to outdoor living and we had most of our meals at the dining table in front of the functioning outdoor fireplace. To sum it up I would recommend this property and hope to stay there again."

  • Spacious Gem

"The architectural design was great as was the location. With the patios and balconies, it feels much larger. No complaints here. My wife and daughter and I loved it and will be back. The parking was great as was the courtyards. It was very private and we didn't see anyone but one neighbor! Loved the fountains, the BBQ and the unique design. My daughter's first impression that she thought we were in Europe. Didn't need to ask for anything as It was well stocked."

  • Delightful and Unique

"This was a delightful and unique cottage. There was a garden bistro area to drink wine which Janet so generously provided along with eating our bagel with salmon and cream cheese for breakfast. The cottage was clean and had everything needed for a visit to Santa Barbara. I don't think I have ever slept as well with the fresh air, sound of water and scent from the flowers. It was very quiet. Santa Barbara was fun to visit-State Street and the wharf were enjoyable along with the general atmosphere of the town. We would recommend this to any and everyone!"

  • Our beach home away from home

"We have been renting this lovely apartment for the past 10 years and continue to enjoy its delightful hosts, Barbara and Russell, their dog Lulu, and the attractive, beautifully furnished apartment and plantings on the porch. It is in a very quiet and lovely neighborhood within walking distance of the downtown area as well as the historic mission and a beautiful memorial garden which is always interesting. This year the kapok trees were in bloom and putting on a grand display. The kitchen is well stocked, there is tasteful art on the walls, and a fine selection of reading material. This might be the one and only trip where I did not read one of the selections on the bookshelf, since I came armed with a book that I needed to finish. My favorite "activity" while staying here is lying on the couch on the porch reading, listening to music, and doing crossword puzzles as Russell's burbling container with water hyacinth provides delightful background noise. (Listening to It is a very soothing way to go to sleep each night.) We always return home very relaxed and happy."
