  • Small Town/Big House/Great Wine

"If you want a vacation rental that feels better than home, this is your place. The house is spacious and thoughtfully laid out. It fits beautifully on the hill to take maximum advantage of the terrain and views. The house is fully stocked and nicely furnished for maximum enjoyment. We had full access to the 50 acre property for morning/evening walks and picked a few blackberries down in Icaria creek. The winemaker gave us a private wine tasting (excellent wine) and offers his wines by the bottle or case. I cannot imagine a better place to stay when visiting the wine country."

  • Great to Relax

"I just wanted to say thank you for the use of your house. The accommodations were very nice and there was nothing we needed that wasn't there. The heat worked well which I always appreciate being a cold blooded soul. We had a very nice time, maybe one of our best in Healdsburg in many years. We went to Chalkboard on Tuesday night and the meal was very nice, we went to Vallete on Wednesday night and if it wasn't the best meal we've ever eaten it was certainly in the class picture. The service, the courtesy and certainly the meals themselves were amazing. Last night we went to John Ash in north Santa Rosa and had a very nice Thanksgiving meal. We went to Matrix and VML right together and bought pinot from both. Very good. We went to Dutton Goldfield a past favorite and rekindled our relationship with some of the best pinot we've tasted in some time. We also went to Pappapietry Perry as always and bought a full box of pinot from them so all in all we had to leave town while we had any money left. We'll definitely be back!"

  • Beautiful Setting!

"Our group of five women from the east coast rented the Grape Escape as our home base for a wine country excursion. Happy to say, we had a great time! The house is not only gorgeous on the outside, but also spacious, beautifully appointed, and very comfortable on the inside. When we walked in we were greeted with a bottle of home-grown Zintensive Care and a vase full of Calla lilies from the garden. Then we looked at the rest: The fully-appointed modern kitchen, the roomy bedrooms, and the three full baths. Everything we needed. In back there was a porch, patio, hot tub, and lots of seating to take in the view during the day, and the stars at night. The property is on acreage, and was perfect for taking daily walks down the long driveway and out to the country road. We were surrounded by rolling hills, gardens, and grape vines everywhere. In fact, the owners, Carol and Virgil, grow Zinfandel grapes on this vineyard land for one of the nearby Dry Creek wineries--and make a pretty fine private label, too! Our hosts live just down the road, and it was a pleasure to meet them (and their dog Kallie) and talk to them about the area. Carol gave us good advice on local wineries and restaurants in Healdsburg and the area(along with places to avoid), and Virgil wowed us with a fantastic private barrel tasting and tutorial in his "cellar." The two of them really made the trip so memorable. Cheers to them! Hope to be back someday.."

  • The lodge was fantastic.

"We had a family wedding to attend and were looking for a location that could accommodate from 9 to 11 people instead of getting a bunch of hotel rooms. The Alexander Valley Lodge fit the bill perfectly. The 6 days we were there just flew by. The lodge is spread out on various levels with views looking over the valley, amazing. It's a very comfortable home, we were very happy with our choice. The lodge was as described in the website and it was neat and clean. If you are a large family or group of friends looking to go up to wine country for whatever reason do take a look at the Alexander Valley Lodge for your stay you will love it and not want to go home.
