  • Bottom line - we'll be back!

"Pros: Great location, close to restaurants and shops. Excellent view of tidal cove with mangroves and lots of birds. Very clean unit. Great private balcony. Comfortable king size bed. Comfortable sofa. Great wifi. Kitchen had new (but not nonstick) pots and pans, and while small, had everything we needed to cook the fresh local seafood we bought nearby at Cookes (highly recommend the stone crab claws and clams), Check-in was easy and friendly. We loved riding our bicycles (brought from home) all over the islands. Plenty of space under the unit for parking. Cons: Kitchen and bathrooms could be updated. Too decorated with things on all the walls and in every nook and cranny. Towels are a little old and scratchy (now I'm being really picky). When the people in the unit above us arrived we could hear them - walking, moving chairs around, and on their deck above us (just something we're not used to). If your knees aren't good, you'll need to brace yourself to haul luggage etc up and down the stairs to the unit. Bottom line - it met our needs and then some. We are birders and loved sitting on the deck to watch the roseate spoonbills, eagles, ibis, herons and egrets etc. We hope to return next year."

  • Incredible sunset views

"Cozy, comfortable and well appointed, Eagle View is a home to be enjoyed. We spent every morning and evening on the screened porch. Sunsets and watching the bird activity made for great dinner entertainment. And the stars! Cedar Key is one of our favorite places to vacation. Plenty of hiking trails in the area and biking. A short trip (35 miles) to Manatee Springs is a must. Simple fun and no McDonalds...great local food (Steamers, Island Hotel Restaurant, Holy Moly for breakfast) and the local are so nice. Take time to get to know them. It felt like home. Slept late and enjoyed every moment. Nothing fancy but oh, so cute and comfortable. Paula certainly put special touches into this treasure. Will definitely plan on another visit to Eagles View."

  • Absolutely wonderful home very well kept. Peaceful

"We have recently returned from a fantastic visit at Painted Sky Lodge. Mel couldn't have been nicer and concerned that all was well in his very beautifully kept home. The views from every side, window and chair, including the bird's nest are spectacular. We spent lots of time birding, kyaking, walking and adventuring. Of course reading, sleeping and eating. The home is very well stocked and in excellent care. The dock is out of this world and a fun place to hang out. The way the home is laid out is very conducive to privacy for two groups or couples and very quiet. It's tastefully furnished and uncluttered. The porch is a place you live at this house. We even enjoyed the inside fire on cool nights. thank you so much for sharing your home and hospitality, Mel! We will certainly plan to come back to this home is a nice quiet location on Cedar Key!"

  • Awesome time at Billy's Place

"This is a great value townhouse, especially if you want to be within walking distance of everything Cedar Key has to offer. We had a great week here, with the sand beach across the street, right next to the kayak rental. The beach was busy on the weekends, but even then it was never packed to the gills. My family rented kayaks twice, and both times spent at least an hour surrounded by dolphins! Jenny was awesome to work with, and made sure we were happy with everything at the townhouse. The restaurants and nightlife opportunities are all less than 5 minutes walk, and on Friday there was live entertainment in the park across the street. I brought my bicycle and was easily (and safely) able to get daily 20-50 mile rides around the area. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed except a pizza cutter (we managed to survive). The beds were comfy, and the townhouse comes with an inflatable mattress. There is a large sofa in the main bedroom that is very large and could easily be a sleeping spot for one. The two full bathrooms were clean and everything worked great. The clothes washer and dryer also were great to have, as we didn't have to pack as many clothes. There are charcoal grills across the street, so we brought our own portable gas grill. Wifi was fast enough for my son to play his online game, League of Legends. Our AT&T cell phone coverage was spotty throughout the island, and we were told Verizon does much better. We still could use the AT&T cell phones, but had to be careful to not drop coverage. Overall, the location is great, but that also means there is traffic from beach visitors, and from the boat launch, that pass right by the townhouse. We had the windows and doors open all the time, so at peak traffic times, there was some noise. If we had closed the windows and turned the A/C on, it would not have been noticeable. We stopped in Chiefland for our main grocery run, since there is a Winn Dixie and WalMart Supercenter there. There are two small grocery stores within walking distance of Billy's Place, which was especially nice after I learned you cannot buy beer on Sunday's. We also did a charter fishing trip, which required us to walk 3 minutes to the boat dock. After a morning of successful fishing, we took our fresh fish to Steamer's, who cooked it up for us! Overall, my wife and I were ready to sell the house at home and move here. We can't thank Jenny enough for our awesome week"
