  • Beautiful Home and Perfect Location

"We rented A Loan By the Sea June 2016 to bring my 88 year old mother to spend time with her children, grand children, and great grand children. It was a beautiful home with perfect kitchen, living, and outdoor space. The large porch with the rocking chairs was our favorite meeting place. Would recommend this home to anyone renting on St. George. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful home....Loved it! Andy and Diane Price"

  • Wonderful Trip, Great Little Gem on St. George Island!

"We planned a last-minute trip to St. George Island and stumbled upon this rental. We've been renting properties off VRBO for more than a decade, and the property was exactly as pictured in the listing. Beautiful, well-maintained home. Incredibly clean and stocked with all the amenities you need—plus DirecTV, tons of games, books, and DVDs. It's an easy stroll to the beach, but we brought small kids and opted to rent a golf cart instead, which was a wonderful idea. Can't say enough nice things about the place, the island, and the rental company. It was a dream vacation (except too short), and we will, for sure, be back as soon as possible."

  • Great place!

"Totally enjoyed our stay at the last straw. The set up was ideal for our group. It was comfortable and the location was great, just a couple blocks to the beach.the kitchen had most things we needed including big pots and colander to cook lots of local seafood. We had some key issues but those were quickly resolved. Having a washer dryer was a definite plus but given the limited towels provided it was a must. I would suggest a couple extra towels for convenience. Throw rugs for inside the front door would be nice also to help cut down the sand factor. We stayed with our family pets which was also a big plus. The additional fee was reasonable.i think it would be nice to make it a deposit instead that could be returned if kept clean which we worked hard at, the only other concern was the oven. It would only go up to 280 temp wise but then cooked WAY higher than that and we had some early casualties as a result. Either a repair or a thermometer in the oven I think would be great. Overall I would absolutely stay again as would my family members!"

  • Truly a Dream on St. George Island!

"We loved spending a week at Island Dream. Bill and Nancy were wonderful hosts, from the start of our communication about our vacation through our entire stay at their beach house. This home is perfect for a small family or a couple. We loved the ability to bring our dog, and this rental is ideal for it. We found Island Dream to be well stocked with any kitchen implement you could desire - yes, even a waffle maker and a crock pot! We made extensive use of the open, functional kitchen and spent many hours enjoying the beachfront screened porch. To our surprise, we found a nice large charcoal grill on wheels under the house in addition to the camp-style permanent grill adjacent to the boardwalk. The private wooden boardwalk to the beach was heaven-sent after a long afternoon baking on the sand of the pristine St. George beach. A small shared sand path ran alongside this home, but we never experienced any crowding on the beach. Many of the necessary beach implements (sand chairs, small six-pack sized cooler, umbrella with anchor, beach towels, fishing rod holders) were thoughtfully provided for guest use. We found the master bed extremely comfortable and this home was well stocked with extra bed linens and plenty of towels. A large stained glass window in the master bedroom was a beautiful touch that brought in the morning light, and could be opened to the living room if desired. The living room furniture looks recently updated and is comfortable as well. We enjoyed the large bookshelf and its many novels! The location of Island Dream is ideal - far enough away from the lighthouse and town square to feel secluded, but a moment's drive from all the conveniences. We enjoyed oysters several times at Up the Creek in Apalachicola and visited our old favorite Papa Joe's in its new location. I highly recommend this vacation home and its gracious owners - thanks again for having us as your guests!"
