Recent Waikoloa Beach Resort reviews

  • great place & location

"this was our first time on the big island so we had no idea where to stay, but this condo was great. i had searched all reviews to make sure we could walk to a beach, our first morning we ran into a super nice gal(barbara) who was out for her morning walk, she didn't just tell us route but she walked us there ! you skirt between ( i think) bldg F & G , follow the edge of golf course & walk right down to main road right across from the Marriot & acess to A bay. would i want to drag all the beach stuff & kids there? probably not but it was perfect for my husband and I . we also liked that the location was close to two shopping areas which had nightly entertainment. the Kings shops had Coach,Macys etc but the other Queens market had a grocery store , cute shops & a food court with subway & DQ , really, really handy. the condo was nice & had everything we needed. A Bay had gritty sand but we we're told they were going to be rebuilding the fresh water ponds & fixing the beach since the last big storm took half the beach away. Hapuna beach was just a 15 min drive north & that was a great typical Hawaii beach (white soft sand ,great boogie boarding) for us we would rather be close to stores , food & entertainment then isolated with only the beach & the hotel amenities so we will definitely return . thanks again ..jay & lori schell..hillsboro , oregon"

  • Beautiful Sunsets in a Gorgeous Condo

"My husband, daughter and I stayed in Halii Kai 12 b for 9 nights over the New Year’s holiday. It was exactly as advertised: clean, well provisioned, with a spectacular view of sunset and whales! They even have the martini glasses and shaker to make sunset martinis! What they didn’t tell us was that in winter you can step out on the grass and watch sunrise too!! The furnishings are upscale and the kitchen has lovely pots, pans and appliances. We have stayed at Halii Kai before and so were a bit concerned that since the b units have no windows on the sides, it would be like staying in a cave. The orientation of this unit allows light in all day long. The only draw back of that is it is a bit too hot to sit on the lanai in the afternoon because the sun shines directly on you and there is no shade. Since the amazing oceanfront Halii Kai pool is just steps away, this is an easy problem to overcome. I only have two recommendations to make this unit better. We would have loved to have a bbq on the lanai as did all of the other units in this building. The grill at the pool is often busy, so it can be challenging to time a meal. Also, we had asked that the two twins in the second bedroom be converted to a king. This was done without the proper bolster so the crack between the 2 twin mattresses was very obvious and quite uncomfortable for our daughter. The management suggested I use some extra bedding to fill in the crack and this helped a bit. If they get the proper kit for changing the twins into a king then, I would recommend this unit for 2 couples traveling together; otherwise it is best for a couple and two singles. Overall, these two issues are far out weighed by benefits of this unit’s amenities from bathrobes and soft bath towels, to the well stocked kitchen and pantry with leftover basics from previous guests to its location very close to the Halii Kai pool complex and the ability to sip martinis while watching the sun set into the ocean!"

  • Great spot

"This is our 5th year at the particular condo. Owner is fabulous and is very particular about making sure you have the best experience. Close to all sorts of great beaches. Condo is well appointed and so many extra touches to make your stay more comfortable. Pool is right at your door step and the lanai is a perfect spot to enjoy the tropical breeze."

  • Exceeded Our Expectations!

"Our entire trip was amazing! The initial contact with the owner was effortless, as she was very helpful and quick to respond to questions. Once we arrived to the Waikoloa Beach Villas we were amazed (awesome views) - it was exactly the relaxing getaway we needed from Boston. The villa was well decorated (very posh) and equipped with everything we needed (Spices, Pots, Pans)! We enjoyed the pool, the jacuzzi, the exercise room, and washer and dryer inside the villa made things super convenient! We took a few day trips to Black Sand Beach (the views were breathtaking), Mauna Kea, Hilo Waterfalls, and Green Sand Beach and having the jeep at our disposal was a great addition to the rental (it saved me a lot of hassle). And, the villa is in close proximity to some of the other resorts and we hopped over there for lunch and dinner a few times during our stay. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with the property. We had an amazing time and are considering coming back with friends next year!"
