  • Truly a gem on the East Coast of Hawai'i Island

"Was completely blown away by the beauty of the property and the ameneties of the house. It is right on the ocean, with plenty of body boards, floaties and snorkels for use by the tenants. Audrey is the care taker and was very helpful in getting us acquainted with all the house had to offer and property's rules. My family and friends would stay there again and again if possible. We are recommending to all of our 'ohana. Thank you for such an amazing experience."

  • As always, WOW!

"2nd time here, but certainly not our last! For those who don't need the 5 star hotel services, you can't find a better spot to chill out and hit your reset button. Beautiful setting, very friendly sea life, quiet, and now with internet, bring your roku stick and turn on a hawaiian music station, make a mai tai and reeeeelax! Bring your mask and fins! Snorkeling in the bay and champagne pond is wonderful. There are many kinds of colorful fishes everywhere and cool and hot places are all around the protected part of the bay ( it's calm in there even when the waves are pounding the rest of the bay). A 3 foot big eye tuna hung out with us for 2 weeks, as did seven distinctive green turtles and one white one. For newbies, there are coolers on site, so take one to Pahoa on your grocery trips for the perishables, just in case you want to stop somewhere on your way home. Paolo's in Pahoa offers some of the finest Italian food anywhere, including Italy. Do Not Miss the mushroom ravioli in both the world class bolognaise and the equally etherial gorgonzola cream sauces. We usually get an extra order to go - trust me, you will thank yourself later! The little organic grocery in town is awesome as well. Hale Lokelani is a perfect retreat for writing, reading or just soaking up the beauty and doing as much or as little as you wish. The night market at the end of the road is absolutely outstanding - top notch foods, fantastic music, art you will actually want to take home, great people! Tons of stuff to do within an hour's drive, but you'll find out all too soon, if you have stocked up on food and drinks, you won't want to go anywhere! Mahalo and ENJOY!!!!!! P.S. The management is fantastic! Accessible and responsive, they take real good care of you and the place. You should too! Keep the Aloha alive!!!"

  • Great snorkelling

"Very nice home, quite comfortable for up to 6 people. Good location 1/2 way between Hilo and Volcano park. Great for snorkelling as short walk to tidal pools. Would be nice if there were snorkel sets at rental until, we had to go to Hilo to purchase our own. Many rental places do include these. Very interesting area with scenic drives. Only suggestion would be to improve locking method. I would come again and stay for a week with family. All accommodation is 2nd and 3 Rd floor as most homes in this area are raised for flood control."
