  • A couple's dream getaway!

"This was my partner and my first time in Hawaii and we decided to stay in Maui because of great recommendations about the island. When we discovered Kihei Surfside we instantly knew it was beyond perfect for our stay. Diana was incredibly helpful with every question we had (we were travelling from Australia) and we were able to arrive on the island with confidence and start our trip relaxed and stress-free. The suite itself is absolutely beautiful and was an extra romantic option for us; with a king sized bed, top floor views of the breathtaking scenery, and lots of mirrors to be able to admire my partner at all angles of the room! As a young 24 year old couple, it had everything we needed to make the most of our stay, with every imaginable utensil and appliance available to us. We were able to do a grocery shop and maximise our time in our suite, enjoying romantic homemade dinners on the lanai, watching the sunset over the ocean. Kihei Surfside is an amazing resort with more options than we even thought we would make use of! But oh boy, did we love every aspect of it. The beach, just meters away, was unreal and stretched a lot longer than most beaches in the area. The water was always warm and there was plenty of space for lounging on the sand without being surrounded by others. On the main side of the resort is a lush and beautiful grassy area which we ended up spending more time on. It was a peaceful spot for sun-baking by the seaside without getting sandy or for making use of the BBQ and enjoying the sunset. There is also a trail that winds along a rocky cliff-side that made for great early-morning walks and exploring the other beaches (which were not as great as Kihei Surfside's beach but still nice). We rented a car at the airport from Thrifty Car Rental which was the another great decision we made (second to staying here). There was plenty of parking at the resort and Maui's #1 beach (according to one website), Makena beach, was a short drive away and we returned on several occasions. There are great restaurants and shops nearby and the supermarket was only a 2 minute drive up the road and it was so convenient we returned on a daily basis to get extra supplies. Overall, this was everything we could have ever hoped for on a romantic and I am so grateful for how much closer I feel with my partner after such an indescribable experience. We were so sad to leave the paradise island and return to reality!"

  • Kihei Surfside

"My wife and I enjoyed our honeymoon stay at Kihei Surfside so much, we returned 7 years later for another vacation. I'm wondering why we waited so long! I'll start with the only downside: there's no A/C in this building. On days when the winds are blowing in off the water, this isn't that much of a problem. But when the air is still and hot, opening windows/doors at opposite ends of the unit doesn't do much good, and one begins to baste in his/her own juices. Other than that, there is no downside. In our experience, Kihei tends to cool down at night enough to get a good night's rest, and if you're vacationing on Maui, what're you doing in your room during the day anyway - go sightsee, go lay on the beach, go diving, etc... ! Not to say that the rooms are anything but comfy and NICE. The ocean view smacks you in the face as soon as you open the door - which as far as I'm concerned is the #1 draw of the whole building. Units farther to the left (as you face the front of the building) are of course more desirable due to their proximity to the water. IF you can, go for lower numbered units on each floor (101, 201, 301 instead of 115, 215, 315) since you'll be closer to the water and the ocean will fill more of your view. That having been said, give me the ground floor unit farthest from the water, and I'd not complain, and you're an ungrateful slob that can't be satisfied if you'd complain. Both the units we've stayed in have been tastefully appointed - very stylish and inviting. Now that I've said all this, please disregard it: if Kihei Surfside gets too popular, there won't be any availability when we next want to stay there."

  • Paradise

"As we say Aloha to Maui, we have just spent an incredible 5 + weeks in the most beautiful place on earth. The new windows, deck railings and retiled lanai are absolutely stunning.  Kihei Surside as a complex is second to none. And of course it's extra special spending our time in our favorite accommodation in 210, our home away from home. The new TV, channels and Blu -tooth player is great and very easy to use.  The new beach chairs even come with a cooler compartment.  How brilliant is that! We got to experience the wildest thunder and lightning storm ever seen on the Island followed by an earthquake early the next morning.  Wow!  There was also another big explosion at the Maui Nui Golf Club on April 01, 2016 as Carol scored a hole in 1 on Par 3, 123 Yard,  7 th hole with a 7 iron.  Another Wow, it was her second career hole in 1 but extra-special happening here in Paradise. Our return to 210 in 2017 will mark our 15th year on Maui.  How fortunate are we. Thank you Bob and Cath for sharing your home with us.  Until next time. Aloha and Mahallo, B & C, Winnipeg, MB"

  • Kihei Surfside 507, 8-16 thru 8-24

"We've been staying at Kihei Surfside for about 35 years off and on, so it was good to "get home". The unit was ready at the scheduled time and access was no problem. We did a quick inventory of items advertised, and found a few things missing (ironing board, cooler, beach umbrella). We contacted Barrie, and she was fantastic! She met us the next morning at the agreed-to time and brought the above-mentioned items. The unit was pretty clean, but a few things could have used some attention. The sheets on the closet-side of the bed had holes in them, and there was some grossness on the toilet seat. We always travel with antiseptic wipes, so we took care of that. Other than that, the unit was as advertised. One big issue to us, however, was the management office hours. They close at 3:30. We were often out at the beach or doing something else, and didn't get back until around that time, and we could never manage to get the shuffleboard game, which had always been one of our favorites. I'd like to suggest that some way be set up to get the shuffleboard, boche ball or putter equipment after 3:30. There were still a good 3 and a half hours of sunlight left to play, but we couldn't get the "toys"."
