Charming home on the banks of Bayou Teche

                  5 of 5
My wife, my three brothers and I spent three nights at the Palms on the Teche. This place was perfect for us. It has all you need for a short vacation in Bayou country. The best feature of the house is the screened in porch out back. We spent every morning and every evening on the back porch talking about that day's activities and reminiscing about visiting our grandparents and our Louisiana cousins each summer as we grew up. The fact that this small country-style house sits on the banks of the picturesque Bayou Teche made it perfect. My ancestors had land all along this bayou. The house reminded me and my brothers of our grandparents' small house on their farm. The interior doors of the house appear to be original farm-style doors which give the house a rural feel. The appliances all worked well (until I put too much liquid soap in the dishwasher). The owner, Keith, was super friendly and checked with us to make sure we had everything we needed. The 90-year-old country store in Leonville, Champagne's, had all the food and supplies we needed. Additionally, the small town atmosphere of the store and all the citizens of Leonville made this visit fantastic. I ran six miles each morning on highway 31 and noticed that nearly every driver waved to me. They didn't blow their horns in anger as one expects in a big city. They displayed hospitality and a welcoming attitude. If you have family in the area, this house is ideal (especially if you have children). The kids won't be cramped in a small hotel room, they have a large yard to run around. However, you should take the warning signs about alligators and poisonous snakes seriously. The next-door neighbor said he watched the residents on the opposite side of the bayou catch an alligator this past summer. All-in-all, this place and the friendly people of Leonville & Prairie Laurent exceeded our expectations. Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez!

                  Lovely cottage on the Bayou.

                  4 of 5
Five friends spent the weekend in this adorable Cajun cottage in charming Arnauldville. This centrally located property situated in the Bayou is just steps from restaurants, produce stand, grocery store and charming shops in the heart of Arnauldville. The owner went out of his way to ensure a cozy and memorable stay by adding a live Christmas tree, inviting us all to a community potluck at NuNu's and making certain we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The cottage is both historic and equipped with modern conveniences that provide the level of convenience we are accustumed to experiencing. It's rustic charm included a generous back porch for watching the chickens or the Bayou. The beds were plentiful and quite comfortable. We would recommend this property to anyone attending events in Arnauldville, Breaux Bridge or at Bayou Tech Brewery.
