  • Comfortable, relaxing, and perfect!

"I have been to Maine a few times, but had never made it to Acadia NP. I'm so glad that I was finally able to get the family up there, and that we found Acadie Cottage. It was perfect for the 5 of us. The cottage has more than enough space and is off the beaten path enough that you don't feel totally surrounded by people like you do in Bar Harbor itself. I have used VRBO several times and this was the simplest and easiest transaction yet. While I have never met, or even actually talked to Rhonda (only email), it was like staying at an old friends house. It was simply comfortable and relaxing to come back to the cottage after hitting it hard all day in the Park. We were on vacation for over 3 weeks throughout New England and Quebec, stayed at some very nice places, and this one was my families unanimous pick as our favorite of the trip. My family and I thank you Rhonda!"

  • Our perfect vacation

"We had such a wonderful week on Mt. Desert Island and were so comfortable in this beautiful home. It is such a pleasure to rent a home where everything works -- windows, screens, kitchen, all is functioning the way it is supposed to! And we have been filled with the beauty of the view, enjoyed the deck and the yard, and taken many a walk across the street. We even took dips in the Sound! The owner was a pleasure to deal with. Thank you."

  • Great time and wonderful people.

"The wife and I had a great time and could not have asked for anything more. The apartment suited our needs well. The location is a very good reason to pick this apartment. We walked through town several times a day to eat and enjoy all the other treats that Bar Harbor had to offer. Acadia was breath taking and that time of year was very nice for our stay. We happen to meet the owners and they were just awesome. We took our very small dog and that also went well. There are comments about the shower and though the roof slopes it was fine for us. I'm 5'10". This was one of my favorite vacations and I did not want to leave. There was so much to do and see."

  • Great place to stay

"This was our second stay at Folkstone Cottage (2 successive summers). We have been very pleased with our experience each time. In prior years, we had had a difficult time finding family-friendly accommodations close to Bar Harbor. There are many hotels/motels/ cottages in the area, but we needed space to relax during down-time, and to prepare some of our own meals, due to food allergies. This home is very comfortable, and despite all the great things to do in the area, we frequently found ourselves just "hanging out" at the house because it was so comfortable. While it is a bit "off the beaten path," it is still only 10-15 minutes from Bar Harbor and within walking distance of Atlantic Brewing/Mainely Meats, one of our favorite places to eat. While Maine summers are generally not too hot, be aware that there is no air conditioning, as is true of many (if not most) of the rentals in the area. Numerous fans are provided, and although we had relatively hot weather during our stays, things did generally cool down at night. Lynn and Jeff were very responsive to any minor issues, and all appliances worked well. We will definitely be back for our next trip to Acadia!"
