  • Maine at it's best!!

"My family of 5 adults were fortunate enough to rent the Clapp's beautiful cottage over Columbus Day weekend. What a peaceful setting!! The home is every bit as beautiful as you see. The owners are very easy to work with through the rental process and provide great information and resources when you stay in the house. The hose is secluded, yet you have neighbors- very nice!! We njoyed our time the house by touring Central and Coastal Maine. The day in Acadia(45 min- 1 hr drive) was fabulous. The location provided easy access as well as a very nice route. We also toured to Bangor, while I am glad I visited it, I would recommend another day in Acadia. We enjoyed Bar Harbor tremendously as well. We also enjoyed a nice fire in the fire pit down on the beach of Walker's Pond- a great end to a great day. The only considerations we ran into in this house for our party was the lack of television and weak internet and phone service. We had a need for communication with the outside world and was limited. However, we would highly recommend this house and area to most parties and especially to families with Teens or Young Adults."

  • Best July 4th Ever

"We rented this place before and loved it so much we came back. The 4th of July celebrations in Castine were an unexpected perk as we had a spectacular view of the fireworks from the deck of the cottage. There was also a very sweet parade on the town green with children in creative, homemade costumes, a band concert, and a sailboat race we watched in the afternoon. The festivities were old-fashioned and small town. The owners checked with us to make sure we had everything we needed. We'll be back again."

  • A Wonderful Family Reunion at Beech Hill

"13 adults, 7 children (ages 4-14) and our Bernese Mountain dogs spent a marvelous week at Beech Hill. The house is welcoming and brimming with character, old New England with enough modern conveniences for everyone. The swings hanging from wonderful ancients trees were a gathering place for the children and the field is ideal for soccer, baseball, and croquet. Children and grown ups made themselves comfortable in the game room in the evening, playing "Spy Fail." The kayaks and bikes were put to use and the beach is so close as is Acadia National Park. The porches are wonderful for the view of Hatch Cove and for meals and visiting. The houses are clean and well-equipped. The Combs are very helpful, responsive and generous in sharing what they enjoy with their guests. If we were to suggest any improvements, it would be to the comfort of the beds, which was not to everyone's liking. There was a malfunction of a bed in Beechwood, which would not keep us from returning by any means!"

  • Beautiful location and comfortable and well-maintained property

"Spent an amazing week in the Chalet at the beginning of September - it was the perfect place to unwind from the hustle and bustle of city life. There is a beautiful view of the water from the house and deck, and it is a quick walk down the path to a private beach. If you are in to kayaking would definitely recommend renting from the Activity Shop in Blue Hill - the morning paddles were one of my favorite parts of the vacation and on the last day we say a bald eagle diving for fish, harbor porpoises and a seal! The Chalet itself is very clean, comfortable and well appointed - we cooked numerous meals in the kitchen and never felt like we were missing something we needed."
