  • Enchanting Seaside Cottage

"This has been a week in paradise. We could see the sun rise over the ocean from our bed, hear the waves on the shore, the rustle of the breeze in the trees, and the songs of birds. This cottage has it all. Tucked off a dead end road, the peace and quiet, and the friendliness of the few people we met walking, were just what we needed as a break from city living. The cottage is adorable inside and out. The owner met us when we arrived and gave us a tour. 'Cottage style' is just what this place is: chintzes and oriental rugs and soothing colors. It's clean and has modern, updated bathrooms, and a new kitchen outfitted with just about anything you might need or want. It was everything we had hoped for, just as described. Portland is a short drive away, if you want shops and restaurants and the tourist stuff. Although there are two very good restaurants a short drive from the cottage. Two Lights State Park, Crescent Beach State Park, and Fort Williams State Park are all nearby. Edward Hopper painted several of the lighthouses in the area. We definitely want to return to this beautiful place. And we just saw a deer!"

  • A perfect place for our reunion!

"A number of my girl friends gathered in Maine from different parts of the country to spend a week together and made the Thompson Point House our home base. The setting could not have been more perfect nor the house more comfortable. It met our needs perfectly with plenty of common space, enough private rooms, and every accommodation we needed during the week. The commanding view of the ocean was inspiring to wake up to each morning and to enjoy when we were not out galavanting. Having this warm, comfortable, environment made our week together even more enjoyable."

  • Great stay

"Our first time in Maine. Absolutely loved it! This house is very peaceful and fully stocked with everything you need for a great vacation. The pool was huge and a great addition to the large welcoming home. We loved the location and the owners were so helpful. Great stay. Hopefully we can visit again soon"

  • Comfortable, convenient and oh the VIEWS!

"My family of 5 adults and one child enjoyed this home immensely! It is a very comfortable home, with every amenity you could ask for, including an open floor plan, a large terraced yard for kids, plenty of room for spreading out and a wonderful kitchen in which to cook. We spent our days being tourists--the drive into Portland was easy--and our evenings enjoying wine on the patio and living room, watching the world go by. Since the house overlooks the shipping lanes, we saw container ships, ferries, sailboats and many fishing boats from the comfort of our home away from home. The furniture is comfortable and not fussy, so you feel relaxed and at ease. If you have extended family, there's a nice separate family room with a big screen TV, away from the living room/kitchen area. Kids could go in there and watch TV or play games. We didn't use it but it's there, and leads to a downstairs bedroom/bathroom. The rest of the bedrooms--4--are upstairs. 2 of these rooms are very spacious, and share a balcony with great views. The other 2 bedrooms are comfortable as well. The kitchen has an island for cooking, and plenty of counter space, all granite. There's a pantry/laundry room adjacent if you'd like to stock the house with groceries for your stay. Outside there is a lovely patio, very comfortable, and nice for dinner, as it is somewhat sheltered. Down the stairs are 2 areas of lawn, ideal for playing catch and other outdoor activities. We enjoyed getting baked items from Scratch Bakery, a 5 minute drive away. There are some nice walks, and lovely properties to view. The park is very near, and the lighthouse is not to be missed!"
