  • Fall Get-A-Way - 8 Year's Strong!

"This is our eighth year at the Lazy Bear Lodge…. and we have no intention of going elsewhere anytime soon. The house offers the most comfortable accommodations for our get-a-way. Thirteen adults throughout the three levels found comfort and relaxation wherever they were. Each year as we make the turn into the development and approach this fabulous lodge, we are so happy to see that we are still secluded and away from the crowd! We always find ourselves outside on the deck either for coffee in the morning or entertainment in the evening. Roasting s'mores and enjoying the fireplace allows the gang to assemble each evening after our day of golfing or shopping. The owner is most generous with her supply of wood and we find no shortage throughout our weekend. This year in addition to our golf outings, the nine women rented and piloted a pontoon - taking in the beautiful lake, cruising and enjoying drinks and laughter. What a wonderful way to see the homes and scenery at the water’s edge. The owner provides a 'starter' bag of toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher pellets and a colorful fire stick that provided fun colors as an added bonus. We are always prepared when we arrive, but if you are unprepared, these few amenities could come in VERY handy! Off-Lake Rentals was a pleasure to deal with – such an improvement. They are friendly and communicated with us providing all pertinent information for our arrival. The one tip I will continue to write is this: Should you visit this magical and relaxing location – PLEASE do not forget to look up at the night sky. We shut down the lights at lodge around the porch and found 8-9 people gathering on the desk…just looking up. The comments and discussions were worth the show and for a moment – no one was looking at their phones! lol Thank you Alayne for all your wonderfulness, generosity and attention to detail. You are fabulous, your home is fabulous and we appreciate it very much. We hope to see you next year as we get closer to our 10 year return visit!"

  • Fun Family Week

"Our group of 3 adults, 1 toddler & 1 GR dog had a relaxing & fun family week at La Cabana. The cottage was charming, cozy, clean & neat. Note: Unloading is an easier job when you park in the alley behind the cottage. We appreciated having the sliding glass doors between the kitchen & family room area. Liked our kitchen table meals together. Liked our quiet time in the LR area. Liked the updated Master bath. Liked being able to bring along our dog crate which we set up in the family room. The bisected property for dock access was not a problem & we enjoyed the dock’s spectacular lake view (& the swing too). Liked being able to cook out on the deck using the charcoal Weber grill. Liked having the fenced yard. Daily walks on Deep Creek Drive with my dog were pleasant. (Dog wearing orange visibility vest.) Enjoyed the beach area at Deep Creek State Park. Especially liked the 1 ¼ mile walking trail at Swallow Falls State Park along the waterfalls. (Ranger’s office doubles as gift shop – yummy home-made jams) We also walked the short but scenic trail from the McHenry Visitor’s Center up to Wisp (1 mile). Recommend Trader’s Coffee Shop & Brenda’s Pizzeria above. Also rented kayaks at Aquatic Center (within walking distance of cottage). We ended each day with an after dinner trip to the Lakeside Creamery for made on premises ice-cream. (Yummy!) All in all it was a memorable Deep Creek vacation. Thanks Rob for renting your cottage to us! Best Regards."
