  • Most relaxing vacation ever!

"My family and I stayed at this rental for a week. We were very pleased with this rental. It was clean, well supplied, and the owner was very friendly and easy to deal with. It was one of the most relaxing peaceful vacations we have been on. The view off the deck was beautiful. We enjoyed our daily walks with the dogs along the ocean. The beach was right down the road. The yard was big enough for us to play bocce ball and can jam. It was very hard to pack up and leave this beautiful spot."

  • charming cottage with water views

"My mother and I greatly enjoyed a relaxing week at the cottage, which is decorated charmingly with the owner's painting and seaside knickknacks. We spent a good amount of time just reading on the enclosed porch and the upstairs deck. When we went to the beach, we did find that that local beaches were a little shallow at low tide, and a beach half hour's drive away, Horseneck Beach, had much better swimming. If we could've brought bikes it would have been a lovely place to do some leisurely biking to town and to local beaches. All in all, a great little getaway."

  • The best family home on the Vineyard!

"Wow, you have found the best family home on Martha's Vineyard! We vacationed for 2 weeks (July 3-15, 2016) at this fabulous, 5 bedroom, harborview home. We travel as a family of 6-10 (parents, 2 teens, 2 tweens) and include grandparents, so a property that serves multi-generations is key. The 1st floor bedroom was perfect for grandma, and the 4 bedrooms up, including a kids hang out pooltable area, allowed plenty of sleeping accommodations. The separate livingroom and TV rooms on the first floor allowed us to spread out. The highlight is the porch, with a covered pavillion table and seating for 8, overlooking the harbor and the spacious yard. The short walk down the road to a public access beach was truly a bonus, as many beaches around the island are private. Daily short drives into town to Stop 'n Shop for groceries and Winds Up to take lessons in any water sport you desire (sailing, stand up paddle boards, kayaking), made Vineyard Haven the right choice as apposed to congested traffic in other MV towns. Preston was very responsive home owner to work with. We highly recommend this home."

  • **PERFECT** Family Getaway!

"Be prepared for a lengthy review. I can’t say enough good things! This house was perfect for our family. Our teenager and 5 year old boy both loved it! The layout was spread out, so we never felt crowded. The house was clean and nicely decorated, and the beds were super comfy. There was good attention to detail (something as simple as labels on light switches!) to make the stay easy and intuitive for those not familiar with the house. We spent a lot of time outside. Lovely backyard! We kept commenting on how secluded it was, which seems to be a rarity on the densely settled island. Trees and lush vegetation border along the edge of the yard between the neighbor’s house -- you couldn’t even tell there was a house over there. We could catch a glimpse of the ocean from the backyard too, which was nice. There is a great little fire pit that we used several times during our stay, and a charcoal style BBQ, (which the meat-eaters in my family preferred over our gas grill at home). There was some road traffic, not too bad. We would help our son practice riding his bike every day, up and down the street. The walk to the beach was a little longer than 5 minutes; biking it was a breeze. But really, this location is very convenient to the town beach. The beach itself was perfect for our 5 year old. Clean, clear water! Small waves. The beach was clean, but people should understand it is a natural sandy beach, complete with seaweed, stones and shells. Quite nice. West Island is purely residential, and you will not find anything but houses, beaches and salt marsh on the island itself, which we like. Our family likes to Geocache, and there are several hidden right on the island! Within 15 minutes you are in New Bedford, which has an amazing historical district, it’s actually a National Park. We visited the Whaling Museum here, which is worth the trip! From New Bedford, we also took the ferry to Martha’s Vinyard for a day trip. The New Bedford historical district in and of itself would serve for a great day trip. With its old houses and narrow cobblestoned streets, it’s a great area for walking around, browsing the small shops and grabbing something to eat. Lastly, the icing on the cake was the owner, Laurie. Her communication was great! She was friendly and easy-going, and very attentive whenever we had a question. We took a vote on our last day, and it was unanimous – everyone agreed we would stay here again on our next beach vacation!"
